Chapter 167 LOVE IN THE ORDINARY
Chapter 167 LOVE IN THE ORDINARY
NIRELLE
"I missed this so much." I snuggled into Lucien's arms more than before; if it were possible, I might have even tried to enter his body. He kissed me gently on my hair, and I felt all the cells in my body respond.
"I am sorry that it had to hurt you this way."
"But you only did it because you had to," I murmur, my finger making continuous circles around his chest. "I know that if you didn't have to, then you wouldn't have done it."
His voice drops as he goes on. "I heard that bastard was going to try to rape you once more."
"Don't you dare blame yourself for something like that," I say, lifting my head a bit. The victims should never blame themselves for the perpetrators. Even if things were different with us and we had done better, they would have still done it because they do not care about us."
"I was so focused on the revenge that I might have hurt you in the process," he murmured, taking my fingers and intertwining his between them. "I won't have been able to forgive myself if anything had happened to you..." His words choked in his throat as he spoke.
"I can only imagine..."
"Do not think nor imagine it; you do not have to," I say, squeezing his fingers in mine slightly. "It did not happen, and it can never happen; this is the end to their misdeeds. I had also told you that I was going to help you, so I have to help you."
"You are right."
"Of course I am," I said smugly, but a yawn escaped my lips.
"And sleepy," he added playfully. I snuggle in closer to his chest and close my eyes. "Welcome home, Nirelle..." was the last thing I heard before I was lost deep in sleep.
When I stood up the next morning, Lucien was already out of bed. I strolled into the bathroom, where the water had just been turned off. Opening the shower door, I stepped in fully clothed and wrapped my hand over his torso. His body tensed up from shock and then leaned in.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, trying to turn around in my embrace.
"I came in here because I missed you," I murmur, pressing the side of my face into his back. "You should have woken me up so we could shower together."
"I wanted you to sleep." He managed to free himself and turn to hold me. I wrap my hand almost immediately over his body again, and he holds my upper body. "I know you must have been tired from the stress."
"I am tired, but seeing and holding you like this gives me courage."
He groaned at the sound of that, and I looked at his face with a tease in my smile. "Was that too cringe?" He nodded, and I laughed, taking a step back. "Are you going to work?"
"I have a few things to do today."
"Oh, okay, I guess I would have the designer come over so we can discuss," I say. I was in the process of getting the house redecorated before I was thrown into all of the madness.
"Today? Already? I at least thought you'd rest today."
"Yes, we have a lot to do, and I had a lot of rest while I stayed at the safehouse," I explained gently.
"But still"
"I do not want you to act as if I am incapacitated because of the baby."
"I am not acting that way; I just want you to rest," he replied, trying to be as careful with his words. I nodded and then continued.
"We are going to include the baby room as well," I say as I rub my belly gently. It was still so surreal that I would be a mother sooner than I expected.
"Oh, the designer is going to do that?" Was I missing something? I thought we already agreed that the designer was going to be in charge of it. "I thought we were going to do it together.
"I am not sure if you have the designer prowess for that," I tease, and with a smirk, I add, "I have to take all of this and add a little class to it."
"Are you saying I do not have class?" he asked, and I shook my head with the smirk still on my face in its full glory.
"Of course not, I am just saying that it might be a fact that I have more class than you do."
"Huh! "Here I thought that I was the one with more class," he added as his hand wrapped around my waist playfully.
"Oh, you possibly did not believe that, did you?" I asked, and he nodded. "Then I must show you what real class is." He planted a kiss on the side of my mouth, and before I could react, he pulled me closer and began to plant kisses all over my face at once, not even allowing me to catch a break.
As soon as he pulled away, I pulled his face in and caught his lips in mine, kissing hard, my hand roaming his bare chest. "You have to get to work," I say breathlessly as I pull away.
"I do, but you started this, and I have told you never to start what it is that you can't finish."
"I did not start this..."
"Then did I?" he asked, kissing me before I could respond.
"Then you shouldn't continue with it if you did not want me to start it."
"Should I not go to work? We can have a day together, just you and me."
"As much as I would really like that, I think I want to get to working on the house."
"Are you saying you'd rather work on the house than spend the day with me?"
"I said no such thing, and I won't allow you to interpret it that way."
"Huh!" He sighed and rolled his eyes as if I had caught him and prevented him from doing something suspicious. "Okay, let's have dinner together today."
"Like a date?" I ask, and he nods. "Are you asking me out on a date?" I clarify, and he nods, his eyebrow going up in scepticism.
"If you do not want to, then it is fine, no..."
"Maybe you should ask my husband because I do not know if he would want me to go out with you." His confused expression turned into a smile and then a laugh.
"Your husband, huh!"
"If he says it is okay to go out with you, then I have no choice but to."
"Okay then." He takes my hand up and plants it on his lips. "If that is the case, then I would pick you up tonight."
"Do I have to wear something like sexy or..."
"Even if you were in a sack, I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes or hands off you," he murmured, leaning into my ears, and I giggle, feeling a butterfly war in my stomach and my cheeks flush red in joy.
"See you tonight," I say, trying to match his tone as well but failing woefully.
"Fine," he kissed my earlobe and moved back. "See you tonight," he winked, leaving me standing in the shower wanting more but knowing I would have to wait just a bit.
