Chapter 67 067

Chapter 67 067
Evelyn's POV.

I blinked my eyes, forcing myself out of my reverie.

“Thank you,” I croaked.

Adrian stood still in front of me, no longer saying a word.

My voice rose again, slow and careful. “You got me a car.”

Adrian did his usual stuff, tucking his hands into his pocket.

“You deserved it,” he said. “You brought up the suggestion of covering the scandals up with this.”

“Accept that as a token of gratitude,” he added.

I stared in awe. Never in my life would I have thought that Adrian Kane would know how to show gratitude.

The car gift was not for my birthday but still, it was still a gift from Adrian to me.

“Let me present to you your birthday gift,” he brought a hand out from his pocket. “Here, happy birthday once again.”

Goddamn! I froze. There was a golden box in his hands, every part of me starting to anticipate what was in the box.

My face turned slightly and I noticed that eyes were now on us, everyone whispering words to themselves with a smile on their faces.

Adrian opened the box and the diamond necklace in the box earned a gasp from me.

It was the same as the diamond necklace from that time. The one which had a recorder snitching on me.

The thought made me gulp. Was he being serious right now?

“What are you doing?” I asked.

I wanted to crease my face in disgust but I was being cautious of the numerous eyes that looked at us.

We were here to clear scandals, not to create new ones.

Adrian didn't respond. He moved closer to me, closing the space between us, his cologne filling my nose and making my head turn in ways I don't understand.

Something cold dropped on my neck and I heard the click sound of something locking.

When Adrian took two steps backwards, I turned my face to my neck and the necklace was sitting prettily just like it did the other time.

He smiled. “There's no device in this, you are free to check. It's your birthday gift.”

I was short of words and I could only stare at him.

Why was he being so sweet? I needed someone to answer that but the only person who can is him and I'm not asking that.

Loud cheers erupted from the crowd, the sound of their hands clapping filling the air.

Adrian walked away to greet one of his business guests. At that moment, someone talked behind me.

“I'm jealous, your necklace is so beautiful.” Without turning, I could tell that was my sister.

I turned to her, a smile on my face. “Do you want it?”

She laughed. “And your husband will let me have it?”

I threw my head back, laughing at her words.

“You think your husband is the only one who gets to get you a gift?” She scoffed. “I have one for you too.”

I raised a brow, a smile still tugging at my lips. Eva tucked her hand into the handbag on her shoulder. She brought a box out, making the smile on my face widened as I waited for her to unbox.

There were two wrapped gifts, one looking like a book and the other a mini box.

She handed the book over to me and I unwrapped, opening the first page.

It wasn't a book, it was a photo album with some notes in Eva's handwriting.

I chuckled, my eyes suddenly getting teary. The photos reminded me of the memories we made together.

I flipped pages and kept laughing, memories starting to overlap in my head.

She handed the mini box over to me and I opened it. There was a bracelet with my name engraved on it.

“Oh my god, Eva!” I gasped. “I've always wanted something like this”

“I know.” She laughed. “And that's why I got it for you.”

I pulled her into a hug, the hug lasting for some seconds.

“I've got a gift for you too.” Someone cleared his throat, saying afterwards.

I snapped my face to see the CEO of Denklings show.

My face widened in surprise. He gave me a small mini box and I took it with hesitation.

I opened the box, looking through what was inside. It was hard to understand as there were stacked papers and disks.

I looked up at him with a raised brow and he understood that I needed explanation.

He moved closer, taking the stack of small papers into his hands.

“These are movie and concert tickets. They range from now till the end of the year” he said. “And these are video games, I don't know if you like them”

I didn't mean to laugh but I laughed at his gifts. “Wait, why?”

“Adrian is a busy man. I can't help but think about how bored you will be at home” he said. “You need them”

“Thank you” I said amidst my laugh. “I'll use them well.”

Adrian had gotten back to where I was and I was surprised to see other people bringing gifts to me. Eva held all of them while I thanked them with a grateful heart.

Suddenly, there was a shift in the air. The music was forced to pause, the people were forced to cease their laughter, everyone forced to turn their faces to the entrance.

Heels clicked, the arrival of someone capturing everyone's attention.

I snapped my face towards the entrance and there she was, the only person capable of doing this; Cassandra.

She walked elegantly, the glowing of her face enough to blind eyes.

My face was calm as I looked at her and I took a deep breath. She looked like the host of the party and also the celebrant of the day.

Cassandra's arrival was followed by the presence of someone who got my lips parting wide; Cecelia.

Cecelia walked in, a smile on her face, her steps getting picked elegantly. No, she isn't supposed to be here, she's supposed to be in prison!!!
