Chapter 47 Forty-Seven

Chapter 47 Forty-Seven

Kimberly

Andre was holding my hand as we went through the hallway. The air felt off. I could feel the eyes of people watching us, they weren’t saying anything, but their eyes spoke a lot.

As we got outside the building, whispering started and some students looked at their phone screen and then to me.

My shoulders stiffened and my eyes darted all over the place.

What could be wrong.

I stopped walking and Andre did too, pulling me closer.

His gaze shifted to me

“Are you okay?” He asked.

“Yeah… I just feel so uneasy,” I said simply, my eyes still over the place.

“We should go sit,” he said, grabbing my hand and pointing over to a chair.

We went there and he went ahead to get cups of cake ice cream.

Just a few minutes after I dug in my ice cream, some students passed by and they stood in front of us. They were laughing and pointing their fingers at me.

“Oh she’s the one?” One of them questioned, one hand on her stomach trying to subside her laughter.

“Who else could it be?” They all started laughing.

My brows squished and I sat up straight. What were they even talking about?

“Will you two get out of this place now?” Andre yelled at them.

“Ohhh Senior Andre, we are so sorry,” their elbows pressed into their sides as they pleaded. And they ran off.

I continued eating my snack and then someone shouted from a distance.

“That’s the HOUSEHELP guysss.”

I jerked up, dropping the spoon on  the table abruptly.

All eyes were on me.

“What’s going on?” I muttered.

“Oooh you’re wearing your apron?” One of the students laughed.

“What do you mean?” I questioned, my expression dazed.

“We all already know who you are, so don’t try to fake it,” a girl snickered.

My stomach twisted. I don’t even know what they were talking about.

Andre turned around on his chair.

“What’s wrong with you all, can you just let her be?” He snapped.

“Andre…” I whispered softly, reaching out for his arm.

“This isn’t about you Andre,” a girl smiled tightly, then she turned to face me.

“It’s about her. She isn’t supposed to be one of us, she is not even supposed to be here.”

“She is just a commoner, a regular  house-help,” another girl said, twitching her lips up.

I blinked my eyes rapidly, shifting on the chair.

“Look,” one of the girls said as she pointed her phone to my face.

“Aren’t you the one?”

My eyes widened. How?

My stomach dropped, my eyes landed in one of the pictures, it was me standing in the Grey’s kitchen in an Apron.

“Oh my God, this can’t be true,” I mutttered, my fingers shaking as I held the phone.

“Oh yeah it’s,” she smirked,“Now we know who you are.”

“The Grey’s househelp,” one of them snapped their fingers.

“And we don’t want you here,” another person snapped her fingers.

“A house help shouldn’t be here!”

“A house help shouldn’t be here!”

They started chanting.

My shoulders slumped and the back of my eyes started to burn

Is it a crime to be a househelp?

“You’re basically feeding on our parents money, that’s how you got the scholarship,” one of them yelled.

“I earned it,” I whispered, tears already streaming down my face.

My chest was tightened and it felt like the whole place was enclosing around me.

They continued chanting, their voices echoing around me, my vision was becoming blurry.

I just want to leave this place. I don’t deserve all these.

“Can you all just stop!” Andre yelled from where he was sitting and everyone went silent immediately.

Then he stood up from there and stepped in front of me, shielding me away from the others.

“What’s actually the big deal if you saw her in an apron in the kitchen?”

“Wait…” he paused,as if trying to remember something,“Is that you all don’t have kitchens in your houses or you don’t help in the kitchen sometimes?”

His shoulders stiffened, I could see his veins  popping on the side of his head, with sweats.

“How do all of you just assume nonsense just by some random pictures that must have even been manipulated!”

“It’s not manipulated, she has been pretending,” one girl said, leaning forward.

“Shut your mouth up!” Andre Snapped.

“Did any of you even ask her to confirm, you just drew up a conclusion,” he spread his hand in the air, and from his expression, he looked deeply frustrated.

I felt somewhat bad that I’m putting him in the center of all these again. This will definitely give these students more things to talk about.

“Well we don’t need to ask her, even her expression showed she was the one, what more do we need?” One boy from the front of the crowd said.

Andre scoffed.

“You all are really a bunch of …” he shook his head slowly.

“I don’t even know what to say to you guys, you people should just get something better  to do with your life and not trolling someone just because you saw her in an apron in the kitchen,” he twitched his lip up in disgust.

“Well, we don’t care about all the trash you have been saying, she doesn’t fit to be here, that still stands,” one boy said.

The tears that were burning from the back of my eyes started slipping out. I quickly wipe them off.

Andre turned to the direction where the voice came from, his eyes hard and flinty.

“And who implemented that?”

His eyes darted to everyone as if he was searching for the person who said it.

“Technically, she is feeding off our parents' money, like our money is being used to cover her fees, don’t you get it?” That same boy questioned.

Andre leaned closer to him.

My stomach twisted, I hope this doesn’t escalate into something more. My back straightened as if waiting for the next action to know if I was going to flee or react.

“And you, are you supposed to be here? This will be the third time you will be repeating a class, aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”

The crowd gasped and the boy’s shoulders slumped.

I felt really embarrassed on behalf of him.

“Now can y’all just move away from this place!” Andre snapped.

“Oh Senior Andre, do you really want to be friends with a househelp?” A girl asked, twitching her lips up.

“I don’t care who she is or what she does and besides what’s wrong about that?” Andre’s eyes hardened.

“Oh my God,” Cassie Clap her hand gently as everyone parted for her to walk in

“What’s going on here?”

“Oh we just found out that she's the Grey’s househelp,”someone said from the crowd.

“Oh,” Cassie’s mouth fell opened and she used one hand to cover her mouth.

Then she turned around, her gaze piercing at me.

“I never thought you'd get discovered so quickly.”
