Chapter 63 063

Chapter 63 063
UNCLE GREG
“What sort of message is this?”

“How can Salem leave me there all alone and now he is texting me to meet him somewhere that there is an emergency?”

Am I supposed to be bothered or moved by this?

I hissed aloud as I stared at the message with a frowned face.

“To hell with Salem…he couldn't even help me convince that slum girl to bring the documents instead him just walked out like a pussy!!”

“I really should have known better. Salem is just so ordinary and doesn't have the balls for anything,” I voiced out as I boarded a taxi to my place.

“Where to, Sir?” The taxi driver said.

“Just imagine….a whole me boarding a taxi..who could have just thought? Isn't that an insult? That a member of the Gold family is boarding a cheap ass taxi cab just to get to his destination?!” I lashed out angrily.

“Wait, you mean you are a member of the Gold family?” The driver exclaimed.

“Yes, I am Greg Gold, my brother is Ray Gold, the founder of….”

“But if he is your brother, why aren't you the one in the papers and all?” The driver interrupted before I could finish up my sentence.

“What sort of rubbish talk are you saying, young man? Is that what you should be saying???!

He laughed out mockingly and smiled, “Mr Greg or what is it you call yourself again?? You think I don't know you or I don't remember you?”

“Oooh…don't be deceived. I'm very much aware of who you are even before you came in to the car,” he hissed aloud.

“Who do you think you are to talk to me that way? Do you know I can make them seize your car and even seize you from the streets?” I threatened in a loud tone.

The car slowed down and the driver gave me this look with a smirk on his face.

“Seize my car?” He laughed out.

“I doubt if you even have any money to pay me. I told you I know you right? Not because you are a Gold but because I have seen your face in the papers years ago and I can never forget.”

“We know your story, Greg Gold. The public knows you are the unflavored one in the family so why stress it?” The driver insulted.

My eye widened in shock as he spoke. “What do you mean? What papers???? When are you talking about?

“Oooh….I see that you have forgotten. I‘d remind you, Sir. I'm sure it will jolt your memory and by that time, you would be able to keep it sealed whilst I drive,” he spoke rudely.

I became agitated and at the same time, anxious to hear what he has to say.

“The Ball Point!” He blurted out.

I paused.

How did he know about that? Was there a news on that?

Oh it definitely can't be. That was between me and Ray Gold. How come an ordinary stranger knows about it now?

Fuck!!!

The Ball Point was an humiliating incident, one I never pray to witness again.

The minute he mentioned it, I couldn't help but remember how everything went down that month in that year.

Few Years ago,
“How the heck am I supposed to even put this in my damn head?”

“This is just too much for me, Ray,” I said to my brother whose eyes wouldn't even shift away from the bright light emanating from his laptop screen.

The next day was the big presentation. Dad's lawyers claimed we were to do a big presentation and win a chest box.

A stunt I believed my father pulled to humiliate me. I hate debates. I hate speeches. I hate virtually everything formal.

Suits were my worst wears and those Eddie Brock shoes, goddamn shoes, I would rather opt for a Timberland than wear those things on my legs.

Unfortunately, I can only complain but I can't do a thing about it. No one knew what the chest box was but of course, my father was a man who really liked to show off.

So many people wouldn't actually call it a show off cause he did actually had the money. Oh, I mean, he had a whole lot of money.

Enough to buy the entire city to himself if he wanted.

“Please just help me out, Ray. I really can't do this shit right in front of me,” I uttered as I closed the bunch of clipped papers in my hands.

“Would you just give in and tell the lawyers. Who knows? Maybe that would save me a night time of studying and the chest box would just be given to me without stress,” Ray responded.

I shook my head. Obviously, Ray was the intelligent one.

But I knew I had something upstairs too. I wasn't dull even though my father had called me a fool one to many times.

But I wasn't actually dull. Cunning is the word. I had ticked every box the word stand for and I know it too.

But sometimes, cunning is all you need to be, to beat the smart ones.

“You and I know the lawyers won't accept that I don't participate. You really want me to go out there and disgrace myself in front of everyone tomorrow,” I said.

“Stop saying it like there would be a bigger audience! You know what those lawyers are fond of when it comes to Dad's stuff.”

“......it could just be them and a few more people. So not to worry, you won't be disgracing yourself unless you choose to,” he teased and winked his left eye at me.

“Pffff…”

Nothing funny about that. Infact, it was so irritating that I just had to look away immediately.

“How is that even a thing to consider in the first place???!” I said to myself inaudibly.

Ray didn't get it.

It wasn't just about the audience we were going to face that day, whether big or not. It was just me.

I didn't want it to happen at all, “Why the fuck do I have to compete for something I can easily have?”

After all, it's our Dad chest box. Do we have to debate to get it??

Ray still seem unbothered…..I presume he was enjoying it. Maybe that was just how it was, for him but definitely not me.

I sighed out heavily and picked up the stack of papers again. I didn't even know what I was arguing for or arguing against.

All I could see was bunch of words written in blank in on a white background and struggling to get in line with my sight and make sense to me.

“I need to step outside. Maybe I could get it if I am out there,” I said to Ray whose head was still buried on his laptop.

A card fell out on the papers as I walked out. Luckily, I caught sight of it.

Wow…is that what I think it is???
