Chapter 62

SOFIA

A heavy and loud sigh.

One of relief as I entered into the room and shut the door behind me.

I took a deep long breath and exhaled out loudly.

The tension downstairs was nothing I could stand. What exactly is going on?

Why does his Uncle sound like he knows what is going on at the moment?

Maybe he is my Savior and I should just let him know about the document. I have gone through the file over and over again…

It was vivid Steven needed my signature before he could get his hands on those estates.

“That simply means I am very important to him…” I voiced out.

I sat on the bed and stare at the document once again. This had to be the hundredth time I was doing that already. I wasn't sure of what to do and the best option didn't seem like the wise option.

“Or perhaps I should call Kiki and tell her about this. I mean, a sister should be able to help out in situations like this,” I said to myself.

I snapped out immediately and my eyes scanned the whole room for my phone, “Oh shit!”

I had forgotten it downstairs whilst in a hurry to leave the men. “What do I do now?” I questioned myself.

Any moment now, that Thomas guy is gonna come upstairs for the document once again.

I sighed. I need to decide this real quick….

I don't think I have anything to lose, after all Steven has been really kind to me. Money hasn't been a problem so why doubt and why delay what he wants?

I signed the paper instantly but I kept the signed document in my drawer.

Few minutes later, I went downstairs only to meet Thomas about to come upstairs….

“You don't have to. It’s done but before I give it to you, I need to talk to the visitors. My husband, your Boss, won't be happy that I kept his Uncle waiting,” I said.

“Oh our darling. You are back downstairs. I thought you will be coming back downstairs with something in your hand,” Uncle Greg spoke.

His other friend kept quiet and just looked at me like he had set his eye on something uncommon.

“I still don't understand you, Uncle Greg. Is there something I was not told when I got married to my husband?” I said like I was ignorant of what he meant.

“Sofia…your husband loves you and I am sure he keeps things with you. I'm not here to come in between you both. I'm only advising you and letting you know certain things you might not know before…”

“You are not living life of a Gold, our wife,” the other friend suddenly spoke up.

“Exactly,” Uncle Greg added.

“You don't use what they use yet. You are not enjoying it all yet and it's not even far from you…from where you stand,” he said.

At this point, I was more interested in the conversation but Thomas cleared his throat, snatching the attention to his.

He signaled to me that Steven was calling again and this time around, there was no longer time to waste.

I walked closer and whispered to his ears, “Go to the room, soon as you open the door, it's the first you will see on the bed,” I whispered in his ears.

He rushed upstairs and I turned to Uncle Greg who seemed distracted by something on his phone.

“Is there a problem, Uncle? Or would you like me to call Steven, perhaps he could join in this conversation??” I asked.

He scoffed…..”Join in? You think we are here for familiar discussions? This is for your own damn good!!” He said in a rather loud tone.

“Greg, take it easy already…” his other friend cautioned.

“Look, don't be a fool. We all know you know what we are talking about. We aren't taking what isn't ours. We are helping you out. Aren't you tired of being alone in here? Wouldn't it make more sense if you had someone fighting on your behalf???!” He uttered in a sharp tone.

I couldn't say a word….

“So, young woman, will you bring down the document for us or not?”

Before I could respond, his friend stood to his feet and walked out without saying a word.

“What hap-”

“What happened to your friend?” I stuttered.

“Let him be…You give me what I asked for. I'm sure it's around the house somewhere…I can help you out before he comes,” he said.

The surprise in my face as he uttered those words.

Desperate. I could see as it grew in his eyes. His body became restless and for a moment, I was scared he just might come at me if I didn't fulfill his wish.

There was no one present, just I and Uncle Greg. Thomas ahead walked out, the other bodyguards had walked away from the sitting room as I had instructed.

His eyes glared at me.

“I don't know what you really want, Uncle Greg.”

“Oh stop it, already. What do you even want here? I mean, you just came out of nowhere and got married to Steven. I know you are here for the money. You can't have at it alone so c’mon, involve me!” He cried out.

Oops. Here for the money? I could have concurred to that sometime ago but now something else was brewing inside of me.

I know I am in love already even though Steven's still seem a bit shaky. I thought times would change after we had sex but I don't think it made any difference.

Maybe it’s the other girl he is seeing but no one knows that except me so it's better I just keep shut before that becomes a problem I won't be able to get out of.

“A rich man does whatever he likes.”

“Uncle Greg..”

“I am his wife but he doesn't make me know all these things. If there is anything about a document, I would suggest you see him privately and discuss with him,” I said.

“Pfff….you are just as dumb as I anticipated. You would be surprised how he would swindle what actually belong you!!” He voiced out of frustration and walked away.

That same minute, he paused and stood at the entrance, his attention drawn strongly to his phone like head seen something horrific.

“What the fuck?!” He blurted out.
