CHAPTER FIFTEEN
XAVIER'S POV
"Imelda!!!." I screamed as she hurriedly ran out of the room.
But that didn't make her stabilize her pace or rather run a little bit slower. She kept sprinting like a wolf that was participating in a Marathon competition.
"Imelda!!." I yelled as I did my best to catch up with her.
Gawddd, how can a woman run so perfectly well and this fast even after all the horrible things that happened lately.
"Imelda." I called as I managed to outrun her and now I was standing right in front of my already pissed off Luna.
"What's your problem? Just let me be and do the right thing already." Imelda started wiping her face like an outstressed person.
"Fine….I mean, yes. Why not? But where are you running to?." I asked as her words kept replaying in my ears like some eerie music that sounded like torture itself. "Maybe I should just fall off a cliff."
"I'm running to get as far away as possible from any member of this pack, precisely I'm running to the comfort of the solitude of my own room ... .my personal room." She announced and then gave me that scrutinizing look that I would never understand…or maybe I'll understand Sooner or later, most especially…later.
"So you're not really thinking of jumping off the cliff?." I demanded again as I was still panting furiously like some deer.
"For real! Xavier, I'm forced to say that lately you've been acting insane. Do you mean to tell me that you felt that I would actually love to fall off a cliff because you decided to take and vent out your anger on your best friend?." She screamed, rolling her eyes as she pushed her room door open.
Only then did it dawn to me that we had actually reached her room, quite fascinating because I didn't notice that prior to this moment
"Imel- '' I tried saying but was abruptly interrupted by the deafening sound from the way she banged her door on me.
This isn't good!! This is very bad, I haven't seen Imelda in a fit of rage before so I just had to keep my cool.
I walked back to…..I don't even know where I was supposed to be heading anymore.
My head's a complete mess for real; with Alpha Blake and Imelda's dad on one hand then Alpha Lena and Irene on the other, I felt like my skull would soon be ripped apart because what Imelda said was actually true.
I wasn't thinking properly any longer. That was so unlikely of me to pronounce judgment on Irene. Though I know I haven't done anything brutal to her yet but trust me when I say that sending Irene to the dungeon was enough brutality for her.
Any other thing and I'm sure her body wouldn't take it, now what am I thinking about?
"Free Irene from the dungeon." I ordered the guards standing in the hallway and they all scurried away to do my biddings.
And now I'm the lost man here, Irene is definitely going to be out of the dungeon in a few minutes and flung to talk with her now is a NO NO.
Alpha Lena is the suspicious damned bitch and my mate is brooding, completely angry with me.
Perhaps I should go and apologize now, no…..the plan was to let her cool off for a while. Maybe, I'll just handle some Alpha duties.
Or better still…
"Irene, open up." I yelled for the hundredth time while knocking and banging on the door.
"Go away, Xavier." She said in a tearfilled voice.
It's high time I start acting like a normal person if I really wanted to achieve success.
"Irene…you and I know that I'm not good at apologies and I don't do this often but I'm sorry for throwing you into the dungeon without listening to any explanations. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have." I pleaded hoping that would work the trick and just like a spell that a sorcerer casted, Irene opened the door slowly.
As the door screeched open, her bulgy eyes that were swollen from crying I guess surfaced.
Gosh, it made me hate myself for even doing that to her, no matter her offenses and how suspicious she had become; she had been by my side even before I started this pack. When it was just the both of us, I'm an asshole for real!!
"May I come in?." I demanded slowly giving her those cute puppy eyes that she could never resist.
Oh yeah….I know my eyes are cute.
She just opened the door wider and retired to sitting on her bed.
"How are…are you feeling?.' I asked unsure of what to start from.
" I'm feeling like someone that was just brought out of the dungeon for goddess knows what." She answered sarcastically and I couldn't blame her.
"Irene, I already said I'm sorry, okay? I just met my office in shambles and my mind drifted…." I was saying they trailed off.
"You met your office in shambles and your mind drifted that it could be me? Why didn't you think of Imelda?." She asked, staring at me accusingly.
"I know Imelda can't do that!." I stated a matter of factly.
"So what is she now? The moon goddess???." She fired back.
"Don't get Imelda into this!." I retorted as I banged the table.
"That's what I thought you'd say from the start!. She yelled and sat back resignedly on her chair.
"Irene—"
"No, don't give me that. You and I have always been a great team, the best team before that girl came along. Everything changed after that, more war's, more arguments and quarrels, more things that never happened and never would have happened. Why can't we just go back to what we used to be?." Petal spat out rising up as she placed both of her hands on my chest.
Hot breath on my neck as she was directly talking into my face, her lips were so close to mine and for a second, I almost thought of how luscious they must feel on mine…..I didn't think of that though.
And before I could say JACK, Irene placed her lips on mine, engulfing me in a salacious kiss.
And then the door creaked open…
"Xavier, I was thi…..Holy moly."
