CHAPTER SIXTEEN
XAVIER'S POV
"Xavier, I was thin...Holy moly." Imelda said slowly as the glass vase she held in her hands fell to pieces.
I immediately pushed Irene off my body and stood up from the bed.
"Imelda…" I tried saying but trailed off.
"Don't take one more step closer to me, sorry for interrupting your time of the year." Imelda said, trying her best not to break down in front of us.
I could see it in her eyes, her looks and facial expression. The way she stared at me, I could hear it in her voice, feel her emotions running through my bones.
"Angel—." I tried saying but Imelda immediately interrupted.
"Oh what is this? I'm your angel now?...." She said as her voice tailed off a little bit, the tears she had tried to conceal came streaming down like a downpour.
"Imelda, I can explain everything you just saw but trust me, it isn't totally what you think." I pleaded as I took a few steps to her side.
"Not like he's obliged to do the explanation part even if it turns out to be what you think." Irene muttered but loud enough for both I and Imelda to hear.
"Just shut it, Irene?." I groaned as I gave her a death glare.
"What? Not like our lips didn't meet." Irene stated and winked at me.
"Our lips met, Imelda and that was the most memorable kiss for the both of us, right Xavier?." Irene continued blabbing.
"Irene, please shut up already." I growled in the lowest way possible.
"No, I totally get it." Imelda said, smiling weirdly as she approached I and Irene slowly.
"Baby, listen. We—"
"Obviously, I'm not listening and don't baby me please, I don't want any of that." Imelda silently growled as she approached us.
Oh goddess, there's something like a silent growl now.
"How dare you? How dare you?." She screamed as she stood at the front of the both of us.
"Baby—."
And the next thing I heard was a blinding slap sent to Irene's face.
"How dare you try to seduce your Alpha?." She asked as she pulled Irene's hair, slapping her hardly for the second time.
My lips curved upward in a coy smile, damn!!! I wasn't expecting this to be the turn of events.
"Imelda—" Irene tried saying but another slap shut her up.
"Don't…make…a.. sound." Imelda warmed as she yanked Irene's hair again.
"You think I wouldn't know, I was standing at that doorway this whole time. Though, you still owe me an explanation Xavier." Imelda stared and winked at me.
"Irene, this would be the last time I'll warn you and the truth is your face might not look as pretty as it is anymore if you attempt this again. I'm not begging you not to because I want to rip your skull open anyway but since I've got to play fair in justice, I'm giving you this chance." Imelda warned sternly as she roughly threw Irene to the floor.
"And as for you, Mister. Come with me." She concluded and started walking out of the house.
" Jeez…..you're really giving off cold, mafia boss vibes right now and I love it." I commented as we stepped out of the room.
"Well then, slow down or this cold hearted mafia lady would send a hole down your head. What was all that romantic session with Irene all about?." She asked as she halted in her steps crossing her arms in a challenging manner.
"Okay calm down, I had to. Firstly, I had sent her to a dungeon without proper investigation and you even scolded me for that and secondly, it's true that I and Irene haven't been seeing eye to eye on things, actually we haven't been seeing eye to eye on anything—" I was explaining but with a wave of hand, Imelda interrupted.
"It's okay, I don't want to hear that. You can leave now!." Imelda said and slumped on the bed.
" I can't leave. I'm sorry for what happened earlier, you were totally correct and I acted unreasonable. The thing is, ever since you got kidnapped by Alpha Blake's men and almost got killed while I was unable to do anything……I've not been myself, I feel like I haven't been able to fulfill my obligations to you as my mate." I explained as I went on my knees while tears streamed out of my eyes.
"It's okay….I understand—." She was saying before I cut her off abruptly.
"No. No, you don't understand how much it hurts. Even the physical pain I obscure from war doesn't amount to this one, it hurts right deep into my heart." I cried as I clutched my heart, staring at her.
Just then the door burst open as a maid came to inform Imelda that dinner was ready.
"My lady……." She said and trailed off as she saw me kneeling.
The shock that was registered on her face wasn't a surprise to me, after all they have never seen their Alpha acting all weak, kneeling and even weeping.
I'm sure for them, these few weeks just got weirder.
"What is it?." Imelda asked as she flashed the maid a bright smile to ease her nervous and tense self.
"I'm sorry for barging in…I just wanted to let you know that dinner is ready." She said, curtseying.
"Sure, we would be out in a jiffy. You may leave." Imelda responded. She looked like and she is a good Luna in every sense. I thank the moon goddess all the time for bringing this angel my way.
"Listen Xavier, I perfectly understand everything but I must let you know that you shouldn't beat yourself over everything. After all, you're the one that still saved me right? There's no need to act like a lunatic." She said and flashed a wild smile because she knew that the word 'lunatic' would get to me.
I also smiled mischievously and held out my hand for us to go to the dinning. She placed her hands in mine and arose from the bed as we walked out of the room.
"I sent the guards to check the footage and you won't believe what we saw. I guess getting those CCTV cameras from the human world wasn't totally bad." I noticed as we walked down the hallway.
"What was seen?." She asked inquisitively.
"I'll suggest we check it out before going to eat."
"Fine, dazzle me then."
