CHAPTER TEN
IMELDA'S POV
"Leave." Xavier yelled with a tone filled with venom.
Irene jerked backward out of shock and immediately exited the room. I just stared at Xavier dumbstrucked, this was the first time I've seen him raise his voice at Irene and I kind of felt hurt because of the spiteful and regretful look Irene peered at me before leaving.
"I think I need to use the bathroom." I said, standing up as I left the room.
I walked out of the throne room, heading towards the gamma's quarters in search of Irene.
I just felt the urge to settle stuff with her. I didn't want to be the obstacle between her and Xavier, all I ever wanted and still want is peace and unity.
The black claw pack took me in as theirs even when I was rejected by the people I call my own.
Reaching the gamma's quarters, there I found Irene, standing and watching the outskirts of the city.
"Irene!" I called out in a low yet firm voice.
She swerved slowly at the call and her face immediately turned into frown as she rolled her eyes once she beheld me.
"How have you been?." I asked, unsure of the way to start a harmless conversation with her due to her body language that was screaming at me to get lost.
"Obviously, I've been…..hurt, wounded, battered and after all, I'm healing and it's all because of you." She answered without even sparing me a glance.
"Woah, I didn't know about all these.. in fact, I don't understand how I'm the cause of your problems." I started with slight confusion.
"How would you understand anything, Imelda? Of course you wouldn't. You're as dumb as I thought." She answered as she rolled her eyes in what I felt was disgust.
"You could just explain to me other than putting on that look of witchery!." I retorted and she glared at me.
"You want an explanation right? You'll get it!!! Ever since you joined this pack, everything I had, I lost it. My status, my authority and most of all, my man!." Irene yelled as she tugged her hair.
Okay, I understand when she talked about status and authority though I had no idea how I took it from her but what I didn't quite understand was when she talked about 'her man!.'
What man was she referring to? Was it Alpha Blake? Or Xavier, no there's no way she's talking about Xavier.
I mean, he didn't choose her as his mate prior to my arrival.
"Okay, I'm confused. What man are you referring to please?." I asked with confusion written all over me.
"You really love hearing everything straight out huh, what I just want to let you know is that I've been in this pack way longer than you and you can't rip me off my position. I'll definitely do my best to break the news to you when Alpha Xavier finally chooses me as his mate." She poured out as she gave me a hard glower.
I didn't even know when I burst out in laughter as I stared at her determined face.
"For some seconds there, I thought you were actually serious. You're quite good at making jokes, I must commend." I managed to say while still breaking out in laughter.
Small drops of tears even cascaded from my eyes as I held my belly out of pain as I laughed hard.
"I'll stay put till all my plans materialize, then we'll know who's good at making jokes." She responded to my query with a brusque retort.
"Goodness!!! You're actually serious? How did I ever take Xavier away from you? As far as I know, Xavier hadn't choosed a mate prior to my arrival before he finally chose me." I responded to this heckler with a scathing yet hilarious retort that got her bulging out her eyes in shock.
"What…did…you…just…say?."She asked in bits as she approached me slowly like she was the main character in a horror movie.
"Umm...I'm not sure I said something wrong, but since you want me to repeat it, I said that Alpha Xavier had not picked a mate, until I came and that's when he picked me." I repeatedly matched her glower with a glare.
"Do you mean to say that Alpha Xavier has chosen you as his mate?." She asked again and I wondered what she was getting at.
"Yes, exactly!." I concurred and like a flash of lightning I felt a sting on my cheek.
Fuck!!!! Did she just slap me? Like, what the hell did I do to deserve that?
I looked up only to see her blood lust look, as she raised her hands to hit me again I held her hands, blocking and shielding myself as well.
"Don't you dare!!." I warned as anger grew in me.
"And if I do?." She asked in a challenging manner.
"I swear, I would break your bones and crush them into pieces." I accosted as I bent my head slightly like someone drawing a fight line.
She was about to send a kick to my belly but I noticed it on time and hit her on her belly first. She screamed as she crouched on her knees, I grabbed her hair as I pulled it.
"Whenever and wherever you try that ever again, I mean..raising those filthy hands to touch my skin, I promise you Irene. You would curse the day you met me." I forewarned as I slapped her with more gravity than what she gave me at first.
Looking at the bitch I came to make peace with, I mentally cursed myself inwardly for taking that foolish step. Now I get it.
My instincts are always right, I wasn't mistaken when I said that Irene had a crush on Xavier but now, he was mine. And I don't share what's mine.
Just then, Irene stood up and looked at me with those pair of dark hellish eyes…..
