Chapter 106
Sienna's pov
I grabbed the bag without even looking at it, holding it loosely in one hand. My eyes stayed locked on Agnes, I was afraid that if I blinked, I might miss her smile forever.
"Grandma, you were just messing with me, right?" I whispered. "You were mad 'cause I didn't visit, so you played a trick on me, right? I'm here now, so please get better."
Agnes shook her head slightly, the movement so faint I could barely see it.
The light in her eyes gradually faded, and the sound of the ventilator and the nurse's urgent calls filled the room.
Until the line on the monitor went flat.
I didn't cry or show much sadness. I had already been through this kind of pain once before.
And the person responsible was the same...
And that person... was smiling triumphantly, relishing my suffering.
"Sienna, I'm sorry for your loss. Grandma's health was already poor, and sudden illnesses are inevitable. Look at it this way: she was old and living with pain. This was a release for her, right?"
Those words, so full of fake sympathy, it felt as if he stabbed in his heart. They were like invisible wounds that made his body tremble.
I clenched the bag and stuffed it into my pocket, then turned and walked towards Elena.
Her brow seemed to be furrowed with worry, but her eyes were clearly filled with glee.
"Grandma's gone, and you're happy about it, right?"
My voice was as calm as a still pond. There was nothing left in this world for me to hold onto.
"Tell me, what did you do?"
I took a step forward, and Elena took a step back.
Maybe my expression was terrifying at that moment, because no one dared to stop me, and fear gradually crept onto Elena's once pitiful face.
"Weren't you just stopping me from coming in? What did you do behind my back? What did you do to Grandma?"
I cornered her in the hallway, and the collapse in my heart could no longer be contained. I grabbed Elena's neck, my thumb pressing hard.
"Sienna, calm down..."
She seemed shocked that I would be so bold, daring to lay hands on her, and she stared at me with a look of sheer terror.
I used all my strength, and Elena's face turned red immediately.
I would just strangle her to death; it would be justice for the two lives she took...
No, it was not worth it. Her worthless life couldn't compare to my two loved ones...
"Sienna, if you have the guts, then... kill me..." Elena's lips moved, her voice hoarse, audible only to the two of us.
She smiled even more smugly, as if provoking me, her mouth curling up crazily. "Kill me, and you'll go to jail. If I die, we both go down together, and my goal would be achieved. I just want to see you alone. How does it feel? You better kill me now, or it won't be easy to get revenge later."
Her body trembled even more violently.
Even knowing Elena was behind all this, she didn't expect her to be so brazen.
"You think I wouldn't dare?"
It felt like the whole world had shrunk to just the two of us. I couldn't hear anyone else's calls, only a voice in my head screaming.
Just kill Elena, and I would have my revenge.
"Sienna! Let go! There's no need to dirty your hands on someone like her!"
Luna finally realized something was wrong and called for the nurses to intervene.
"Luna, don't stop me. Even if I go down with her today, I have to avenge Grandma and Mom!"
She glared at Elena, ignoring the people trying to pull her away.
But the strength of a group was too much, and eventually, they managed to separate them.
Luna stood in front of me, she held my jaw her voice urgent. "Sienna, if you kill her, you'll be a murderer. Do you want that label? There are other ways to get revenge, don't rush."
After struggling, I was exhausted.
Facing Luna's persuasion, I shook my head lightly, a self-mocking smile on my lips. "But Luna, if I had killed her when she drove my mom to her death, Grandma wouldn't have died that day."
All my indulgence led Elena to kill Agnes. Everyone who protected Elena was an accomplice!
"It's my fault. I don't want to be like this anymore."
As I spoke, tears began to fall, and Luna hugged me tightly, her voice choking up.
"It's not your fault. You've done your best."
The commotion attracted the attention of nearby people, and the Blackwood family, who were handling Arthur's paperwork, also came over.
Among them was Harrison.
"Sienna, what a surprise. You actually know how to come to the hospital. I thought you had abandoned Agnes after not seeing you for two months."
Chloe sneered. "Elena kindly took care of Agnes, only for you to and cause trouble. Good intentions turned to nothing." She turned to Elena, "Elena, don't bother with her, let's go!"
Seeing her step forward and take Elena's arm to leave, I immediately rushed to stop them. "You're not going anywhere!"
"Sienna, you need to calm down."
Elena sighed. "I know you're feeling terrible right now, but you're too agitated. Our arguing won't solve anything. Let's calm down and talk later."
"Elena, don't waste your breath! She won't appreciate your kindness. Let's go!"
Chloe pushed me hard and tried to leave again. I still blocked them, grabbing Elena 's wrist.
"I said you're not going anywhere!"
Everyone fell silent because of the slap.
My cheek burned with pain, and I looked ahead in disbelief.
At some point, Harrison had appeared in front of me.
He yanked me over and slapped me hard on my face.
It hurt.
I never thought I'd give him the chance to slap me in my lifetime.
Wasn't it my indecisiveness that led to this?
"Sienna, snap out of it!"
His voice was cold, devoid of any warmth.
He just looked down at me coldly, his eyes showing impatience, as if I had done something utterly unreasonable.
"Harrison, are you still protecting her?"
The person who had been gentle with me was him, and he was the one who told me he didn't like Elena.
Were his words during those days all lies?
Harrison crossed his arms, hiding his clenched fists. "Whether she did it or not, the law will decide. Don't lay hands on her again."
I laughed bitterly and shook my head.
"Harrison, don't regret this."
I suddenly glanced at Catherine, her brows furrowed, clearly fed up with me.
Of course, this commotion would bring more scandal to the Blackwood family.
Suddenly, I thought of something and looked at Harrison with a meaningful expression. "I hope when someone close to you is murdered, and you can stay this calm."
