Chapter 107

Chapter 107
Sienna's pov

Maybe I said it out of anger.

Everyone knew Harrison 's real mom wasn't Catherine. So where was his actual mother?

I wasn't trying to remind him of anything, just wanted to get under his skin.

Harrison just frowned, tightened his grip on my wrist, and insisted, "Come back with me first!"

"No way!"

Did he really think I'd go back with him now?

"Grandma's still inside. I missed my mom's funeral, but this time, I want to handle Grandma's funeral myself. Mr. Blackwood, are you really going to deny me that right?"

Harrison 's slap seemed to have woken me. My emotions gradually stabilized.

The most important thing now was to arrange Agnes's funeral. As for everything else, it meant nothing to me.

I scanned everyone present.

My gaze unintentionally landed on Catherine, and I noticed she was scrutinizing me.

I smirked, a subtle response to her stare.

As expected, I saw her pupils contract sharply.

"Harrison , it's my fault. I shouldn't have come to see Grandma alone. That way, Sienna wouldn't have misunderstood."

With Ophelia's comforting, Elena finally calmed down. She quickly apologized and gave me an apologetic smile. "Sienna , believe me, Grandma's death has nothing to do with me. I didn't expect things to turn out this way."

"Anyone who believes your act is blind," I shot her a glance and then focused back on Harrison . "Mr. Blackwood, what's your answer?"

Maybe my sudden change in attitude caught Harrison off guard.

He nodded slightly and then left with Elena.

"Don't think about running off. I'll come to get you later."

Even as he left, he didn't forget to warn her.

I forced a smile, my lips moved, but no words came out.

Luna was furious at Harrison 's behavior.

She rushed to me, looking at my slightly swollen cheek with deep concern. "How dare he hit you? Even if you were emotional, the person who passed away was your only family in this world!"

"Maybe he just wanted to wake me up." I touched my left cheek, feeling numb. I couldn't feel the pain anymore.

"Let's go. We need to take care of Grandma's matters first. After that... we'll do as you suggested."

Luna was slightly taken aback. "What I suggested?"

"Yes, your proposal about Blackwood Estate."

I didn't elaborate, but a cold glint appeared in my eyes.

"We need to plan carefully. I might not be able to leave for a while."

It wasn't quick to handle the aftermath.

I watched as the coroner's office filed Agnes's death certificate, her social security record flagged as deceased, yet the whole process still felt surreal.

In just four months, I had lost two family members, seemingly at Elena's hands.

Was it really... just her?

After the medical procedures were completed, it was just about closing time.

Luna and I walked towards the hospital entrance, chatting intermittently.

"Luna, don't you think something's off about everything that's happened recently?"

My thoughts seemed to find a breakthrough, flooding out like a tide.

"Elena's target is just me. She has no reason to add two more deaths to her hands. It would only cause her more trouble."

Luna was stunned for a moment, her brows furrowed. "You mean someone is directing her?"

I didn't answer.

Back then, Elena left because she despised Harrison 's status.

What if Adrian showing up and her return weren't just coincidences?

But why did my family have to be the ones sacrificed?

"Whether it's her own doing or someone else's manipulation, she'll do anything to make me suffer."

My voice was barely above a whisper. "If the law can't judge her, I'll take revenge my own way."

"Don't get worked up. Don't dirty your hands for someone like her," Luna said, her voice full of concern. "I was really afraid you'd strangle Elena today."

We finally reached the hospital entrance, and I got a call from Harrison .

I didn't answer right away. Luna saw the caller ID and asked, her tone complicated, "Are you going back with him?"

"Yeah... I'll go back first. The Blackwood family owes me so much. If I just leave, it would be too easy for them."

My heart felt completely dead, only hatred driving this shell of a body to do the one thing I wanted.

"Just don't act impulsively. If anything happens, come to me."

As we talked, Harrison called again, and I answered.

"Where are you?" he asked.

Still so cold?

I replied calmly, "I'm at the entrance. Come over."

The call lasted no more than thirty seconds, just enough to convey the necessary information.

Harrison and I still hadn't divorced.

"Luna, you should go back. I can handle this. That matter isn't urgent. If needed, I'll ask Julian for help."

A black car appeared in front of me, the window slowly rolled down, and Harrison spoke decisively.

"Get in."

I got into the passenger seat and chose to close my eyes and rest.

At this point, I no longer wanted an explanation from him.

On the way home, neither of us spoke. I kept my eyes closed but couldn't sleep. I stumbled a bit when getting out of the car.

Entering Blackwood Estate, I went straight upstairs. "Martha, please prepare my old room."

For now, I couldn't bring myself to share a bed with Harrison , who defended a murderer.

Even if it was just an act.

Harrison just silently followed me.

I returned to my old room and was about to close the door when Harrison blocked it.

"I want to be alone for a while."

Harrison ignored my words and forcefully pushed the door open.

"You were too emotional at the hospital."

I nodded, indifferent. "Yeah, I know. You did it for my own good. Otherwise, I might have killed her. I should thank you."

Harrison suddenly reached out to touch my left cheek.

"Does it hurt?"

His hoarse voice seemed to suppress something.

I didn't push his hand away, just smirked. "Of course it hurts. You hit me hard. Don't you know?"

Harrison suddenly picked me up and carried me into the room, closing the door behind us.

He placed me on the bed and sat beside me, his actions surprisingly gentle.

"Mr. Blackwood, what does this mean? You hurt me, and now you feel sorry?"

I tilted my head, resting one hand on his shoulder, pointing to my right cheek. "If I wanted to kill Elena now, would you slap this side too?"

Everything was already shattered. A bit of tenderness was just a facade, ready to crumble with a few words.

"You don't need to kill her." Harrison suddenly kissed my left cheek. "You can slap me back. I won't dodge."

I said expressionlessly, "But I only want to hit Elena to vent. What should I do?"
