Chapter 141 WHAT DO YOU NEED?

Chapter 141 WHAT DO YOU NEED?
MICAH'S POV

No matter how many times I try to forget or ignore it, the video has already burned itself into my brain.

It's a silent and grainy video of me backed up right against the living room wall, while Dante stands too close to me, looking like he is shouting and giving me hell.

With no audio, it looks exactly the way the caption puts it out to be.
An intimidating, one sided video of a captain cornering a rookie.

The fact that Savannah was the one to post it, with her real account and student's ID only makes it even messier and worse than it actually does.

Some are even saying that since I and Savannah are good friends, I have a hand in it and I'm trying to oust Dante just before Championships.

The screenshots of the evidence is being posted  everywhere, with several students taking sides already.

Immediately after I see it, I don't go outside to talk to Dante.
I'm afraid of what he'll say.
What if… what if he thinks I have a hand in it, and I'm actually plotting with Savannah?

I don't even answer Caleb's first three texts.

Instead, I sit right at the edge of my bed, my phone feeling a bit warm in my hands, as I watch the clip again and again, burning the frame angle of the video into memory.
The angle looks like it's high enough to capture the entire living area, but it's also off-center.

And one more thing. It also looks like it was captured from the top of the bookshelf close to the TV.

Oh my… It's not a phone recording.

This video was not taken by someone, the view of the video is too steady for someone.
Plus I think we'll both know if someone was hiding in our suite and secretly recording.

Which can only mean one thing…
Someone planted a camera in our suite.

The realization hits my guts hard like cold ice, as I stand up shakily using the wall as a frame.

Going outside immediately, I take a quick survey of the living area.

I check the obvious places first, the ones I see in movies, or in spy dramas.
The smoke detector, the lamp and the corner of the walls.

Nothing, I don't see anything.

Then I climb right into the arms of the couch to examine the top shelf.
I'm thinking it's all for nothing when my fingers brush right against something.

I bring it right back and take hold of something hard and small, tucked behind a stack of old game binders.

When I settle back to the ground, a black dot no bigger than a thumbnail with matte finish is right in my palm.

I almost dropped it when I discover what this means for me.

How long has this been here?

My stomach is churning so much that I have to brace myself on the coffee table, and put my head right between my knees.

Someone has been watching us right in our living room.

And probably in other rooms too.

That's what probably brought up all of the rumors and the study night hall.
It was… it was all Savannah.

She– I thought she was my friend, how  could she do that to me?

I can't believe it… Dante was right all along.
He knew something was up with Savannah, and he was right to freak out like that previously.

Everything he said is just shaping up to be right and now I'm not only feeling exposed, I'm also feeling stupid.

Before the panic can take cover completely, I force myself to move.
I checked my bedroom and found another camera.
I found another one close to the full view mirror in the living area.

The next one was found in the hallway facing the bathroom.

By the time I find another one in the kitchen, my hands are shaking and I feel like I'm going to throw up and be sick at the same time.

I continue searching until I can't find any more, before bagging them all in a plastic ziplock like they're some kind of forensic evidence, before putting it right in front of me on the coffee table.

The suite no longer feels warm and comforting like home anymore.
It feels like I'm on set twenty-four hours a day, and I'm the actor casted for the Truman show without knowing.

My phone buzzes once again, and I see it's Caleb.

‘Where the fuck are you Micah?! I saw the post, you alright?’

I stare at it for a long time before replying.

‘Can you meet me right now? But don't come to the dorms, come to the library basement study room’.

I'm not sure if I got all of the hidden cameras.

By the time I arrive at the library, Caleb is already waiting for me with a tight expression on his face.

I don't waste any time with pleasantries
I slap the ziplock right in the table between us, showing him several cameras that make a dull thud on the wooden table.

Caleb stares. “Where the fuck did you get those?”

Caleb really needs to stop hanging out around Natalia.

“Everywhere in my suite. My living room, my room, kitchen, the vents, the walls, and even on a shelf.” My voice sounds even flatter when I'm saying it.

“Someone's been recording us for a while I think.”

Caleb sits down slowly, rubbing his brows. “Jesus.”

I lean forward.
“Th night we went to the study hall alone, I and Dante that is, Dante had announced it very loudly that I wondered why he would do so. And then Alison showed up, and the cabin photos of I and Savannah popped up.”

“Christ.”

“It must have been Savannah. She probably is the one that told Alison, and is the one orchestrating the whole thing since.”

“Damn. Wait, Maddie was right then.”

I sigh wearily, putting my hands in my hands for the millionth time today.

Caleb rubs a hand over his mouth. “So what are you going to do now?”

I say nothing for a while, before raising my head to meet his eyes.

“I’m done only reacting to it all, and I need all of my facts straight.”

Caleb studies me for a long second, before nodding.
“Okay. So what do you need?”
