Chapter 77 The Harmonious Melting together

The day before the wedding.

Lara was still confined to her room.

However, the media had already spread the news about this wedding far and wide.

That bastard deceived her again!

He said he would fulfill her demands and only invite the board members, but it was all bullshit!

She was angry, but since she couldn't meet the person who made her angry, she could only accept the current situation unwillingly.

Although she had been grounded for two days, her private tutor came punctually every day to help her catch up on her studies.

Even though the wedding was imminent, she had to obediently accept her fate and spend a significant amount of time on studying.

It seemed that the man truly despised her education.

Yes, he graduated from the world's top-ranked institution and held various records, while she struggled to get into college and failing exams was the norm for her.

In this aspect, he indeed had the capital to look down on her.

Leaning on her cheek, Lara couldn't help but feel annoyed for who knows how many times. The teacher's voice made her feel like sleeping.

After finally finishing the morning lessons, Lara, feeling listless, ate lunch and took a short nap.

When she woke up and prepared to continue with the afternoon lessons, Chloe suddenly appeared.

Surprised, Lara asked, "How come you're back?"

Chloe smiled and replied, "How could I not come back when you're getting married?"

The smile faded from Lara's face, and she said, "There's no need to come back for that."

Putting down her bag, Chloe looked at the teacher nearby and smiled, "Tomorrow is Mrs. Avila's wedding. Let's skip the afternoon class."

The teacher stood up with the textbook and also smiled, "Wishing Mrs. Avila a happy wedding."

Lara gave the teacher a forced smile.

After the teacher left, Lara asked, catching up with Chloe, "Where have you been all this time? I called you yesterday, where were you?"

Chloe sat down on the couch and blinked at her. "I was in Hong Kong for a layover."

"No wonder..."

Chloe patted the seat next to her and said, "Come sit here."

Lara sat down and hugged her, acting spoiled, "It's good that you're back. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how to handle tomorrow all by myself."

"You only need to take care of impressing the guests at the wedding. What else do you have to handle?"

Speaking of which, Chloe asked her, "By the way, has Avila returned?"

Lara pouted, "It seems like he boarded the plane. He said he would arrive in Emberton city in the afternoon."

Chloe nodded, "That's good."

Chloe's return to Emberton city before the wedding somewhat reassured Lara's anxious heart.

With Chloe around, she wouldn't feel so lost.

"By the way, why did you and Gregory separate so suddenly?"

"Is your marriage sudden as well?"

"I'm talking about your situation." Lara pouted and curiously asked, "You two were entangled for two years, and now all of a sudden, you're getting divorced. When Laura told me, I was really shocked."

Looking at the curious girl, Chloe touched her hair and said, "It's precisely because of being entangled for two years that we were able to divorce. Of course, it was a spur-of-the-moment decision."

"That's true, just consider it a way to escape from misery."

Lara supported herself with one hand on the armrest of the couch, and then angrily said, "You don't know, after the news of your divorce was released, Laura became so proud and occasionally appeared with Gregory in the gossip magazines."

Chloe smiled faintly, "Isn't that a good thing?"

Lara widened her eyes and looked at her with confusion, "You told me before that Gregory had issues in that aspect, so did Laura... did they never...?"

"..."

Chloe quickly averted her gaze and brushed away the stray hair near her ear, "Oh, by the way, what does your wedding dress look like? I'd like to see it."

Lara instantly forgot about her previous words and stood up from the couch, saying, "Follow me."

Bedroom, walk-in closet.

Chloe scrutinized the stunning and extravagant wedding dress, "It's really generous!"

Lara leaned against the closet lazily and said, "Considering Mr. Avila's current net worth, a wedding dress is nothing special."

Chloe quickly noticed her odd attitude and asked, "You don't like it?"

"I don't like it." After answering, she quickly added, "But it still suits Mrs. Avila's status."

"You're being ambiguous. What do you mean?"

Lara walked over, lifted her hand, and lightly touched the intricate white petals layered on her corset. "There's no deeper meaning, I just simply don't like wearing wedding dresses."

As she said that, she raised her gaze and complained, "Do you know how difficult it is to wear this outfit? Straight male aesthetics, plus so many diamonds."

"In the world above, just taking a couple of steps makes me gasp for breath," she said.

She tried on over a dozen wedding gowns, tortured every day. Finally settling on one, only to have Avila make changes?

It was suffocatingly frustrating.

Chloe smiled, "It's a once in a lifetime event, a little bit of endurance is expected."

Once in a lifetime...

Lara tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Not necessarily."

Chloe was taken aback, her calm eyes flickering subtly, "I have a special circumstance, one you can overlook."

"Why is that?"

"Gregory and I... it was an arranged marriage, it doesn't count."

"That makes sense."

Then she said sympathetically, "Chloe, you've been through a lot these past two years. If things don't work out, I can introduce you to a man, and well, you can make up for lost time."

"Make up for lost time?" Chloe widened her eyes, "What kind of language is that?"

Lara tucked her smile away, "You, as a good student, don't understand this analogy? It's about harmonizing Ying and Yang. You must have heard of it, right? Hmm... you're not getting any younger, I think it's time to arrange something."

Chloe gently brushed her fair and tender face with her hand, "Looks like Avila has done a good job with you."

"..."

Lara blushed, scolding, "I was talking about you!"

Chloe couldn't help but burst into laughter.

The two of them returned to the bedroom and chatted continuously until the servants notified them to come downstairs for dinner.

Strangely, the man who was supposed to return this afternoon had not sent any message.

Despite appearing calm on the surface, Lara's inner anxiety was far from subdued.

The wedding was already announced to the world, and if the groom really couldn't make it back, wouldn't she become a laughingstock?

Lara lost her appetite for the sumptuous dinner.

She called Avila, and although the call went through, there was no answer.

Chloe frowned, "Still no contact with him?"

"No."

Lara had lost her previous calm and composure.
