Chapter 90 Greece

Chapter 90 Greece
Alezandra's P.O.V.

A part of me felt torn when I realized we were leaving the hotel and Liam hadn't gotten the chance to tour this massive place. On the other hand, I was practically bursting with excitement. I couldn't wait to see where we'd be calling home.

Andrea had promised me a house, and I had no doubt it would be exactly what he said it would be- if not even better.

Liam sat at the foot of the bed, watching some cartoon in a language I couldn't comprehend. However, the fact that he laughed every now and then proved he understood whatever the characters were talking about.

"Liam, did you pack all your things from your bed?"

Even though I'd asked the question, my eyes instinctively drifted from the carry-on bag I'd opened on my bed to Liam's headphones and the book he'd been reading, both still lying on the mattress.

I sighed, and just as I was about to make my way over to Liam's bed, I heard the balcony door open and close.

The strong aroma of Andrea's cologne filled my lungs and soon enough, I felt his hard chest press against my back as his strong arms wrapped around my frame.

"Are you ready to see your new home, beautiful?" His voice was low and raspy.

I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face.

"More excited than you think." I was practically bouncing on the spot.

This caused Andrea to chuckle.

"Good. I finalized everything this morning. The only thing it's missing is you."

"Liam, are you ready to go?" Andrea called out to his son, but Liam was far too engrossed in whatever he was watching to hear his father.

"Madre di Dio, he's never gotten this much screen time."

"Wait, you monitor his screen time?" I asked with a frown.

Andrea muttered a few curse words under his breath before striding over and turning off the TV.

"Andiamo. Get your stuff, we're leaving, allora."

Liam immediately snapped his head toward us, looking thoroughly offended.

"Hey!"

Andrea simply raised a brow.

"Now."

With a dramatic groan, Liam slid off the bed and began gathering his things.

Picking up a few of our bags and a suitcase, I started toward the door but Andrea intervened, slipping the bags from my shoulder and pulling the suitcase from my grasp.

"Go wait in the car. It's in the parking lot."

"I'm sure there are hundreds of cars in the parking lot."

"None as expensive as the one I drive." A smug grin tugged at his lips.

"Go on. There's a driver waiting outside the door. I'm going to help Liam get his things."

"Okay," I drawled, nevertheless heading for the door.

I made my way down the hallway and into the elevator, surprised to find that I was the only one inside, considering how massive the hotel was.

The elevator came to a smooth stop.

Assuming I'd reached the parking level, I stepped forward the moment the doors slid open- only to freeze.

This definitely wasn't a parking garage...

I found myself staring into what looked like a huge conference room. Dozens of people dressed in expensive suits occupied the space– some were seated around long tables while others stood in small groups, engaged in conversation.

Every single one of them looked polished and important.

And then there was me wearing yoga pants and one of Andrea's plain grey designer hoodies that practically swallowed my frame.

My hair was messy and my face bare of makeup. For a second, nobody noticed me... Until someone did. Heads began turning one after another as conversations quieted.

Heat rushed to my face as embarrassment burned across my skin.

"Oh God."

I immediately pressed the button to close the elevator doors but mothing happened.

This made my stomach dropped.

I pressed it again, still nothing. The silence around me seemed to grow louder and people were staring now.

Some whispered to one another in a language I couldn't understand- Greek. A few frowned while others simply looked confused.

My pulse began hammering...

No.

No, no, no.

I jabbed the button repeatedly. Once, twice, three times and still nothing happened. The elevator remained stubbornly open and by now I could feel every pair of eyes on me.

My chest tightened and suddenly I couldn't get enough air into my lungs. The room blurred around the edges as the whispers grew louder in my head.

Shit.

They were probably wondering who I was, why I was there and why I looked so out of place.

My heartbeat pounded so hard it felt like it was trying to break free from my chest.

Panic surged through me and without thinking I stabbed my finger against the button for the top floor.

This time the elevator obeyed. The doors began sliding shut and relief crashed through me so quickly my knees nearly buckled.

Just before the gap disappeared completely, I caught sight of several confused faces still staring in my direction then the doors sealed closed and the elevator started moving up- passing the floor where our room was. I didn't care, I just needed away.

The moment I was alone I pressed my back against the wall of the elevator. My breathing trembled– a painful knot forming in my throat with every deep breath I took. I could feel tears burning my eyes before they started spilling over uncontrollably.

Placed a trembling hand against my stomach, I did my best to stop the tears from falling.

The elevator continued its ascent in complete silence... and so did I. Silent tears slid down my cheeks as I stared at my reflection in the mirrored wall, trying desperately to calm whatever was raging inside me.

By the time the elevator finally brought me down to the garage level, my nerves were completely shot.

The doors slid open revealing a dimly lit parking garage. I stepped out cautiously, my eyes scanning the rows of luxury vehicles.

And there it was.

A dark blue Rolls-Royce SUV sat idling near the entrance. Beside it stood a fair-skinned man in a tailored suit, his posture rigid and professional.

A few feet away Andrea paced back and forth with his phone pressed to his ear. He looked pissed.

"What the fuck do you mean it has to be an emergency for you to check the cameras?" he barked into the phone.

I stopped walking.

"My pregnant fiancée is missing!" I whinced feeling sorry for whoever was on the other line. While the suited man shifted uncomfortably.

"No, no, clearly you don't understand." Andrea dragged a hand through his hair.

"I already told you she would've told me if she was going somewhere." He listened for half a second before cutting off whoever it was.

"No, she didn't wander off." Andrea's voice echoed through the garage.

"I need to speak to the manager." A pause...

"Oh, you're the manager?" His jaw clenched.

"Then get me someone else. Someone who isn't as incompetent as you are." Then another pause.

"I don't fucking care what language he or she speaks. Get someone el
se on the phone. Now!"

Despite everything that had happened upstairs, a tiny part of me felt guilty- he'd been worried.

Like really worried...
