Chapter 54 Lily Got Scared
Everyone was stunned when they saw what Rossie was holding, especially Lily. She even looked down and tried to avoid eye contact with Rossie.
Bryce paused for a moment, then said sharply, “Okay, you're the one who said it. Don't blame me if the police arrest you and throw you in jail. Your actions could land you in prison for at least five years!”
Rossie nodded with a smile, completely unafraid.
“Oh, five years, huh? Hmm,” replied Rossie, glancing at Lily, who was turning pale.
“So who's going to call, me or you? Or maybe Mr. Thorne, as the auctioneer, will report it. He's a neutral party!” challenged Rossie again, further annoying Bryce.
Bryce gritted his teeth and pointed his finger at Rossie, “You...”
“What about me?”
"Huh! Just because you have the support of Dominic and Marcus Cavendish doesn't mean you can bend the law as you please! Even though they are rich and powerful, I'm sure you won't be able to escape the clutches of the law! Look at the people here, they've recorded this incident and it will definitely go viral. Do you think the court will just stay silent? They won't risk their reputation for you!“ shouted Bryce.
Rossie just chuckled, ”Yes, the law cannot be toyed with. So hurry up and call the police, what are you waiting for!“
”Rossie, don't cross the line! Even if Catherine defends you, her testimony is questionable! Catherine is mentally unstable, who would listen to a crazy person!“ Kelly exclaimed, defending Lily.
Rossie held Catherine's hand, who was now looking down sadly. ”Catherine isn't crazy! You're the one who always makes her look crazy, just like she looks now!“
”Rossie, don't cross the line!
We haven't called the police yet because we're still being kind to you! We still remember that we have family ties. You really don't know how to be grateful!“ added Miranda. ”Since I don't know how to be grateful, then I shouldn't be a member of the Johansen family.“
Rossie then turned to Bryce and said, ”How about you take care of the divorce tomorrow. Once we get the certificate, we'll truly no longer be family!“
Bryce was annoyed to hear Rossie's words. His face was so gloomy, and he finally said, ”Rossie, don't change the subject! You think I don't want to divorce you? We've already agreed on that! Now settle your business with Lily!"
Rossie shook her head again and said to herself, 'Huh, I don't know what's wrong with Bryce, is he blind or stupid? The evidence is clear, but he refuses to think clearly. I don't know what I ever saw in this man that made me love him so much.
“Enough... enough. Don't make a fuss. As Rossie requested, let's just call the police. Let them decide! If the Johansen family suffers any losses from this incident, let the Thorne family be responsible!” Alex exclaimed, then picked up his cell phone.
Seeing this, Lily immediately shouted, “Mr. Thorne, don't do that!”
This time, everyone turned to look at Lily, including Bryce.
Bryce furrowed his brow. He then looked at Lily's pale face and gazed at her gently. His embrace of the girl loosened. Lily hugged him tightly and said.
“Bryce, I did have a fight with Rossie. She provoked me.”
"I know, it must have been her. That's why you should let Alex call the police. You don't have to be nice to Rossie!" Bryce took a deep breath, his voice tense.
Alex's action of grabbing his cell phone and preparing to call the police made Lily break out in a cold sweat. Even though Alex was a prominent family and Rossie had connections to the Cavendish family, the facts would still speak for themselves and his fingerprints were there.
It was possible that Catherine would be questioned. She knew Catherine wasn't crazy, she was just autistic, and usually the words of an autistic person were like those of a child, honest and innocent.
Lily then shook her head, “I think this is just a misunderstanding, there's no need to involve the police.”
“Lily, there's no need to feel sorry for her!” Miranda exclaimed, then turned to Rossie. “You can hide behind Mr. Dominic Cavendish, but you can't mess with Mr. Thorne! The Thorne family is just as powerful as the Cavendish family!”
Lily bit her lip and said again, "Aunt Miranda, I don't think we need to do that. It's just a misunderstanding, and let's just settle this matter amicably.“
”Look how kind Lily is to you!“ replied Miranda.Rossie couldn't help but laugh, then she covered her mouth and laughed loudly, ”Ha ha ha, you want to settle this matter amicably, or are you worried that the police will find whose fingerprints are here?"
Lily turned pale upon hearing this, and her body trembled with fear. This made Bryce suspicious of her.
“Lily, tell me what really happened?” asked Bryce.Lily became even more depressed and finally snorted in annoyance and spoke in a high tone. "I already said this is a misunderstanding, why are you guys insisting on reporting it to the police? Do you want to tarnish the Jones family name?“
Rossie smiled mockingly at that, as did Alex. He even raised his eyebrows at Rossie.Bryce stared intently at Lily, and Lily finally spoke, revealing another lie. ”I was confused, my mind was so chaotic that I said this. I was wrong, I'm sorry."
Everyone was stunned to hear Lily's confession.“So Rossie didn't do this to you? Then what was your purpose? To ruin her good name?”
Bryce asked sharply, putting Lily even more on the spot.Rossie folded her arms across her chest, one hand on her forehead, and thought to herself, 'Huh! After three years, only now can she think objectively. It turns out it takes courage to stand up to these hypocrites.'
“I... I...”Lily trembled with fear, her knees as weak as twigs blown by the wind. Suddenly, she fainted.
