Chapter 55 Alex The Knight
Darren finally showed up after Lily was taken to the hospital and the incident was over. He looked rushed. "Sorry! I'm late because I had to take care of some things at the pawn shop."
Darren accidentally saw the white handkerchief stained with blood in Rossie's left hand. He gasped in shock and immediately raised his hand. "Miss Rossie, what happened to you? Did someone hurt you? Do you want me to do something about it?"
"It's okay, it's a small matter, Aunt Caroline, and..." Rossie stopped talking and turned to Alex Thorne, who was standing not far from them. Rossie smiled at him.
Darren followed Rossie's gaze and nodded at Alex. He knew that the man must have done something for Rossie. Even though Alex and Rossie always acted like cats and dogs when they met, when needed, Alex was always there as a hero.
"Hmm, what did I do? You didn't even allow me to reveal my identity. If it weren't for Alex, who is like a knight, how could this incident have ended?" Aunt Carolina chimed in, glancing at Alex.
Rossie pouted, "Why is everyone so fascinated with this annoying Alex, but this time I agree with them, Alex played a big part in resolving the incident at the auction."
"Rossie, why don't you reveal your identity? Why do you have to let them continue to insult you? You should tell them that you are the youngest daughter of the Cavendish family. Then they would know what they would have to pay for offending you! "
Rossie smiled slightly and shook her head. She said," Auntie, I have left the Johansen family. They don't need to know who I am. What I want to do is to live my life better.
Aunt Carolina smiled, "Yes, life is full of suffering. The beginning of a relationship may be beautiful and sweet. But it can also end terribly. You're right, now is the time to think about how to live a better life. "
She pursed her lips and couldn't help but smile." Do you want to come home with me? "
Rossie shook her head," No, Auntie, I'll go back to the office with Darren."
Carolina nodded, then Alex cleared his throat. At that moment, Aunt Carolina and Darren understood and allowed their stepdaughter to enjoy her time with Alex.
Rossie knew what she had to do at that moment; she had to thank Alex. She stepped closer to Alex and smiled at him.
"Thank you for helping me," Rossie said softly.
Alex frowned, then smiled slightly. "Just thanks? What about a reward for me?"
Rossie's face turned gloomy, and she pouted again. "Huh! So you didn't really want to help me. You're expecting payment from me!"
Alex smiled slightly, "Other than air, is there anything free in this world, Miss?"
Rossie snorted in annoyance, then took her cell phone and opened her mobile banking app, pointing it at Alex. "Fill in whatever amount you want, I'll transfer it to your account!"
Alex narrowed his eyes and then laughed out loud. "Miss Roseanne Cavendish, I am the only child of the Thorne family. Do you think we are so short of money?"
Rossie snorted in annoyance, "Then what do you want?"
Alex smiled cynically and folded his arms in front of his chest, then leaned slightly toward Rossie and whispered, "How about you treat me to dinner for two?"
"Dinner?" asked Rossie.
Alex smiled thinly, "Yes, just dinner for two. But today I still have to report this auction problem to my family, and I'll let you know soon when you can take me out. See you! "
Alex waved his hand at Rossie and left her standing there frozen. Aunt Carolina, who saw this, just shook her head and muttered," Alex is really a unique person; he has his own way of getting Rossie's attention."
Meanwhile, at the hospital…
Lily had regained consciousness and was receiving treatment. The doctor said that her condition was not serious, only minor injuries that did not even need stitches. Lily fainted due to emotional problems, or maybe, as usual, she was pretending.
"You're finally awake, Lily!" Daisy cried beside her bed and hugged her daughter, "I thought I would never see you again!"
Lily, sitting while being hugged by her mother, still couldn't stop crying.
"Stop crying! It's so noisy! Bryce is no longer here, there's no point in crying anymore!" Miranda exclaimed curtly.
The woman stood with her arms crossed and asked coldly, "Do you already know how to handle this situation?"
"What situation?" Daisy was a little confused.
"What situation? Have you already forgotten about your failed drama this time? We almost ended up in jail because of you and your stupid daughter! "Miranda snorted in annoyance and narrowed her eyes at her younger sister.
" You have more failures than successes. I supported you so that your daughter could be with Bryce. Unfortunately, with your stupid brain, did you think your daughter could enter such an elite family? Impossible!"
Lily was also annoyed with her mother for being short-sighted and only caring about short-term gains.
Because of her mother, she had to sell the necklace Bryce had given her, and this could threaten their relationship.
"Miranda, let's talk outside!" Daisy said, taking her sister's hand.
Miranda said nothing and just followed her younger sister.
Both of them still looked gloomy, even outside.
"Lily and I should have succeeded in our plan this time, but because of your autistic daughter interfering, the plan failed!" Daisy complained.
"How was I supposed to know Catherine would be there? You two were so careless in handling things, leaving behind evidence that even you didn't know about?"
Miranda was indeed annoyed by Catherine's sudden presence, but she thought the biggest mistake was her sister's and niece's carelessness. She returned to Lily's room feeling resentful, followed by Daisy.
"Anyway, right now, words aren't enough," Miranda said as she approached Lily's bed. "There's no evidence to prove that Lily hurt herself. Lily, listen to me! If Bryce asks, pretend to be shocked and say you don't know anything."
Miranda added, "Bryce always listens to you, and he owes you a favor, so we have to keep taking advantage of this! If that doesn't work, I have another way to make Bryce keep listening to you!"
"What are you planning, Auntie?" Lily stammered.
Miranda smirked at her. "Don't ask so many questions, just do as I say!"
