Chapter 36 36
|| Author POV ||
Rosalie quietly followed Mr. Kang. Her steps were hesitant. The memory of his previous insults made her chest tighten.
Aria had already left to meet Noah, leaving Rosa alone and the uneasiness grew when the office door creaked open.
She stepped inside. Mr. Kang set a book on the side-stand beside the door and smirked. His eyes scanned Rosalie and she stiffened instantly.
“Take a seat.”
Rosa lowered herself into the chair silently but a shiver ran through her when Mr. Kang moved closer, standing beside the desk with his arms crossed.
Rosa’s hands twisted in her lap. Her heartbeat thundered in her chest. The office was quiet and it felt so suffocating. Rosa tried to calm herself down.
“Miss Sinclair, do you know why I asked you here?”
Rosa swallowed, avoiding his gaze and shook her head “N-no, sir.”
“Well then, I’ve gone through your exam papers. You should see your performance yourself. The stack is on that shelf.” He pointed with a sharp gesture and Rosalie followed his hand.
“Get up! And bring it here.”
Rosa flinched before rising. She cautiously walked to the shelf.
She stretched on her tiptoes, trying to reach the stack of papers on the top shelf. Her fingers brushed just the edge of it. Her skirt lifted slightly with the effort and Mr.Kang’s eyes darkened with a disturbing gleam, fixating on her exposed skin.
He tilted his head. A predatory smirk tugged at his lips and took steps toward her. His hands twitched as if itching to touch her.
Rosa desperately stepped onto the thin bottom shelf to gain extra height. She couldn’t give up and let this man insult her again. The wood wobbled under her weight. The top shelf seemed out of her reach as if it had been placed there to taunt her.
Finally, her fingers closed around the bundle. But as she tried to step back down–a loud thud echoed through the room, making her heart lurch.
Rosa flinched toward the door and froze.
Killian was here!
He grabbed Mr. Kang by the collar who was standing just behind her, and slammed a hard punch into the man’s cheek, sending him sprawling onto the floor.
Rosa flinched hard and the bundle of papers fell from her grasp, scattering on the floor.
“I WILL K!LL YOU! MOTHERFCKING BASTARD!” Killian roared, his voice shaking the room.
Rosa’s body trembled violently at the sight. Her chest tightened with terror. She couldn’t understand what was happening.
“CEDRIC FUCKING-!” he paused to a hard punch “THORNE!”
His fists rained down on Kang without pause. Each strike pounded harder and full of fury. His presence thickened the air. Rosa’s eyes started to fill with tears.
“YOU SON OF A CHEAP WHORE!”
Blood ran freely from Kang Rowan’s nose. Rosa’s sobs filled the space. Her body froze as dread and helplessness coiled tightly around her heart. Kang’s painful grunts filled the room.
“I’ll kill you before you can even touch HER!”
Killian’s strong fist slammed against Kang’s throat without mercy making the man choke. The sound made Rosa flinch violently. Her wide eyes glistened with fear as she stared.
Then realization hit her when she caught sight of blood. Rosa was confused. Killian’s rage was uncontrolled–he was going to kill him.
“No! Don’t hit him! Stop! Please–don’t! He will die. Stop!” Rosa shouted, flinching with every brutal sound.
But Killian didn’t stop.
Trembling, Rosa wiped her tears and bolted from the office and ran down the corridor. Her steps were frantic. Her eyes darted from one classroom to another. The doors were still open which signs that security was nearby.
Rosa stumbled into another hallway. “Is there anyone? Please. Please help!”
A security guard in a blue uniform glanced up from locking a classroom. His frown deepened at the sight of her disheveled, tear-streaked face.
Rosa rushed to him. “Please! Come with me! They’re fighting! He-he’s going to kill him! Please stop him!”
Her words choked off by sobs. “Please! Hurry! He.. he won’t stop! You have to-! Someone have to stop him!”
The guard’s eyes widened at her panicked state. “Calm down! And tell me what’s happening! Who’s fighting?”
“They’re in the office! H-he’s angry! He will kill. Stop him, please!” Rosa’s voice cracked. Tears streamed down her cheeks. The security guard exhaled sharply. “Show me.”
Rosa led him to the office. Her body trembled as if bracing herself to face ghosts. When the door creaked open, the room appeared empty. The side table lay overturned messily and papers were scattered across the floor.
Her wide eyes darted around, finally locking on the guard. “They.. they were here! Please, believe me! I’m-i’m not lying!” Her finger trembled as it pointed to the blood on the floor. “See, i’m not lying.”
“Please call the police.. He will k!ll him!”
The guard’s eyes narrowed as he took in the blood. He could tell this wasn’t a lie. Something violent had just occurred here.
“Please!”
“Don’t panic.” he said firmly while pulling out his phone. “I’ll call the principal.”

—Meanwhile
The car tore down the highway, tires screaming against the asphalt. Killian’s boot slammed onto the accelerator, chasing the vehicle ahead. His eyes burned red with fury. There was no way he’d let that bastard escape.
The faint sting on his lip from Cedric’s punch throbbed. It barely registered. But it only fueled his rage further. Cars streaked past him like bolts of lightning. The highway was a blur of motion.
His hand slammed against the steering wheel, sending a shiver of raw madness through him.
Two SUVs tailing him stayed dangerously close like snakes. His guards matched his insane pace. Killian’s hands were steady on the wheel, his mind laser-focused—catch him. The target. The vengeance.
Cedric’s car darted ahead and the chase reached its peak when they were on the Bridge. The traffic thickened. Cars weaved like obstacles in a deadly chasing game.
Drifting through tight gaps of the traffic and tires sparking against the asphalt, Killian felt the rush, the madness. Every nerve screamed.
Killian pulled out his gun, aiming for Cedric’s car tires. The shot rang out but it missed. The bullet tore a jagged hole in the asphalt.
“Damn it!” Killian cursed, gripping the wheel tighter.
The bridge ended, spilling them onto the open highway. Forest on each side. His guards chased his car like a tail. Up ahead, a turn appeared. Killian fired again and this time, the bullet shredded a tire.
Cedric’s car swerved violently at the shot and disappeared into the turn ahead. He was out of Killian’s sight. Killian pressed the accelerator, closing in only to slow abruptly when he spotted Cedric’s car standing still beside the roadside.
Killian’s car skidded to a halt beside the still vehicle. His eyes landed inside of it–the driver seat was empty.
Killian slammed his fist on the steering wheel, gun still clutched tightly in his hand. He scanned the forest that loomed over the highway.
Cedric has slipped from his grasp once more.
“Fuck!”
He snatched up his phone and dialed immediately.
“Chris! Spread our men across the city right now!”

Rosa quickly walked down the street. Her heart raced, replaying the horrors from earlier. The principal had sent her away saying they would review the CCTV and investigate everything.
But her mind wasn’t on that. She actually forgot to think whatever was happening with her.
Killian was back!
He saw her. He knows that she escaped. Now she’s scared.
No matter how desperately she wanted peace, it felt like the universe itself was against her. God, perhaps, was punishing her. She couldn’t be allowed to feel safe.
Rosa’s eyes were swollen and puffy. She kept them lowered, pacing quickly toward her home. The bag hung loose over her shoulder.
‘I have to be strong.’ She told herself.
Suddenly, the screech of tires made her heart jump. Rosa moved against the wall to side herself. But the car slowed and stopped just beside her. Rosa’s body tensed. She confusedly blinked at it.
But before she could take a glimpse, the door slid open and a cloth pressed harshly against her mouth. Panic shot through her. Her eyes widened in terror when a sharp, acrid smell of chemical filled her nose.
Her head spun.
Instinct screamed at her–she was being kidnapped. She needs to save herself.
But her legs betrayed her, trembling uncontrollably at the effect of drugs. Black dots danced before her vision and a strong hand yanked her into the waiting car.
The doors slammed shut, taking her away from the world and darkness swallowed her whole.
