Chapter 67 A Million And More
Chris got into his car and drove all the way to the place where Cara's ship had arrived. Unfortunately, he didn't meet anyone. He felt so angry but decided to calm down and check around, they couldn't have gotten too far ahead if he sped up.
Only a while ago did Andrew update it that their ship had sailed back safely which meant they were still around somewhere.
He bumped into one of the dock workers who immediately apologized to him on seeing his nice dressing and car keys in his hand.
"Uh excuse me!" He called out to the man who was about to walk away after a short bow of his head. "I'm looking for my... Friend...? My friend uh... Andrew Malhotra, his ship sailed in just a while ago and he texted me to meet up here but I don't know where."
"Ohh, I'm sorry but I don't know that name. Except if he was one of young master Romeo Armani's friends." The man stated.
Chris nodded his head swiftly. "Yes, yes! He's one of you-- one of Romeo's friends. He is tall, handsome, tanned skin and brown eyes. Andrew Malhotra."
"Oh you must be the one they are waiting for. You have brought their cars, yes?" The man's brow arched.
"What? Their cars? What do you--"
"Well there's no time for chit chat now, boy!" The man's voice had grown stern. He was well aged like fine wine but also visibly older than Chris. He had only shown so much respect to Chris, thinking he was a rich guy who had just gotten down one of their ships.
He spoke sharply and authoritatively now that he thought of Chris as no more than one of their drivers. "You've wasted enough time already just to bring their cars over! They are waiting by the antique shop not too far from here. Only takes a few minutes to walk down there but seconds if driving. And just to let you know, the Indian one is pissed that you are so late."
"But I'm not--"
The man's sharp gaze cut Chris off like a sharp knife. "Get on with it then! And tell the gentleman we appreciate the tip. And you must know that I mean young master Romeo Armani. Now go!" He hissed and walked away first, eying Chris for even having the authority to call Romeo's name so casually like that.
Chris was standing there for a few seconds, beyond stunned. But he soon realized the information he wanted was already given to him on a platter of go-- black, not gold, but it was a platter alright.
Cara was just there, a few minutes away and he could finally talk some sense into her head. Or force it into it, whichever one would work.
He walked away, hurried away rather. Rushing for his car and driving to the antique shop-- the only and first one he saw as he drove-- up ahead.
Getting down, he was excited to see Andrew Malhotra standing outside with a bunch of traveling boxes.
"Mr Malhotra!" He called out and hurried to him with a smile on his face. "I didn't know I would see you here." He disguised his plan with those words. In other words, he lied.
"Mr Knowles?" Andrew squinted. "What the actual fck? How the hell did you get here?"
"Oh I was just driving by. I uh... I'm thinking of uh... Going on a cruise trip, I have actually been thinking about it ever since you mentioned it to me and I am finally free from work today so I thought I'd come and make some findings." He stuttered over his words at first but carefully placed the rest of his lies and followed through with it.
"You came all the way to find out about their reservations when it's stated on their wall online?" Andrew looked confusedly at Chris.
"Oh uh... I wasn't sure, I wasn't provided with enough information so I thought I'd come get some myself. So uh enough talk about me, where is Cara? You must be surprised that I know her. We're friends and she told me about your trip together."
"You don't say..." Andrew there was a lie there somewhere. Or maybe everywhere! "Dude, are you sure you guys are still friends? Like even after such a terrible divorce?"
"She told you about that?" Chris' calm slipped off his face but for a split second. He chuckled softly. "Yeah, so I guess things aren't really at its best between us right now but... But uh we are in the middle of settling things and getting back together.
"And no, I know, it looks like we aren't getting back together but we are just trying to get through some things and sort out our emotions you know? Know what it is we really want..." His expression was like that of someone that was touched only by his own words. He showed sympathy to himself.
"Ah... Even though she's with somebody else? And I won't lie to you, it's pretty serious." Andrew crossed his arms and held his head high.
"Come on dude, I'm married. How serious could a relationship be in comparison to marriage?" Chris chuckled amidst his words.
"I don't know, it's pretty serious..." Andrew teased.
Chris' smile was gone in an instant again, obviously his patience was lost once more. "I just want to see her and talk to her please? If I don't talk to her now, she will think that I really abandoned her."
"Uh no, I don't think so because she was never freaking expecting you." Andrew stated firmly.
"Why don't you mind your own goddamn business and just leave us alone?" Chris' expression darkened. "I bet you're not in a relationship so you don't have any idea how love works so please, just stop trying to butt it."
"I'm not butting in in someone else's business, she's a member of AMAM which makes her my sister and she is also the lover of my best friend."
"I'm sorry, AMAM? As in mama spelt backwards?" Chris questioned.
"A Million And More. That's what we are."
