Chapter 66 Back On Dry Land
Jessica bent her head to the side slightly. "Are
you even hearing me?"
The maid blinked. "Yes! Oh of course! Thank you so much! I really appreciate this opportunity ma'am, thank you so much! I promise to return this favor someday one way or the other." Tears brimmed at the young girl's eyes.
She looked slightly over twenty with beautiful blue eyes and silky blonde hair. Her small body was wrapped in her maid uniform of black and white. Her small dress was black while the apron clinging on to her waist was white. A color to match the scarf on her head.
Jessica stared at her with an unreadable expression and rolled her eyes. "Go on then. And next time, don't make a promise you're not so sure you can keep. Also, I don't know how long you get to keep the job so don't look at me like you worship me now."
The maid chuckled softly before running off in excitement.
Jessica rolled her eyes once more and shook her head. People were so gullible, she thought to herself.
The thought led her back to her father in-law, Chris was unaware but she already had him on a leash he could never cut no matter how hard he tried. It only got tighter if he kept struggling.
And now, the leash for her father in-law was being prepared. With those two on her side, her mother in-law would be no trouble for her at all.
With the weekend gone like a passing breeze, the crew were off the water and back on dry land. They were all grateful to have returned to the city, they almost tore Andrew apart when he made a joke about going back to the water the next weekend.
Meanwhile Jessica had begun to enjoy her life as the wife and daughter in-law of the Knowles family.
Like she had predicted, a few more words placed decently and properly were more than enough to seduce his mind and lure him into her lease while Chris had barely been at home.
Every single time, he had some important business to do and wouldn't be back until late at night just to give in to his urges and call Jessica into his bed for another sensual night.
She obeyed, every single time, making sure he got all and some more of what he asked for. Slowly, it was almost like he was falling in love with her once again.
But everything fell apart when she came across his phone that morning and realized he had been stalking Cara and trying to find out when she would be back. Apparently, she was on her way back that day! And Chris had begun dressing after another morning of waking up next to his wife.
His only words were, "there's something important I have to tend to right away." As it always was. And he always said those works with a serious expression on his face.
She made sure he didn't know she had gone through his phone and simply pretended when he left for his 'important business'.
Immediately after Chris' leaving, Jessica jumped out of bed and didn't even bother to shower before rushing out as well and tailing her husband secretly.
Romeo walked with his arms around his girlfriend as he led her to a small antique shop where they all decided to wait until their cars arrived.
"I can't believe those lazy bones haven't brought our cars yet!" Andrew whined as he rolled his eyes skyward. "What are we supposed to do? Take a bus or something?" A confused look played on his face.
Jastrow's eyes squinted. "You know the bus is filled with humans right? Just like you and me."
"That's exactly the point." Andrew stated. "It's just me and sometimes, my driver and I in my car but in a bus? There's like... Fifty people!"
"You're over exaggerating." Jastrow said.
"Stop your whining, Andrew," Rick chimed in. "I'm going inside the antique shop to see if they have anything nice. Anyone wanna join?"
"Should we check it out?" Romeo asked Cara and Andrew shook his head.
"You really are Romeo." He remarked and Romeo chuckled
Cara, with a soft smile on her face, responded. "I'd love to."
"I don't see why not." Jastrow added.
"It's all settled then." Camilla spoke up. "Andrew, you're on bag guarding duty."
"Hey, no fair. I want to go in too." Andrew whined.
Rick placed a hand on Andrew's shoulder. "Don't worry dude, we'll buy you something nice and interesting if we can find any."
Without waiting for a response, they all left their bags with him and walked inside. Andrew didn't even get the chance to reject the offer.
The rest of the gang-- a million and more was the name Andrew had agreed to call them-- went into the antique shop to admire the things they would find inside.
Cara was surprisedly drawn to the trinket section and Romeo stood by her and adored the things with her. A particular golden necklace-- as thin as a thread-- with a tiny butterfly ornamented in diamonds for a pendant caught her attention and Romeo couldn't help but to notice it.
He took out his phone and took a picture of it.
"What did you do that for?" She arched a confused brow at him as she asked.
He seemed quite occupied tapping the screen of his phone but only for a few seconds. He looked up from his phone and smiled. "I ordered it. The real one."
"What?" She squinted.
"This is nice but a few days is all it'll take to get worn out. But the original will stay with you forever just like me. You'll get it when you get home." He had a gentle smile on his face as he explained.
She opened her mouth to speak but the door to the antique shop opened, the bell atop it jiggling, and Andrew poked his head through. "Uhm...Cara? I think you might want to step out for a little bit."
She looked confusedly from Andrew to Romeo.
