Chapter 31 Shopping Mall
The wind blew through her hair, entering her lungs and calming her down from the inside. She breathed, unsteadily and uneasily.
She hated how flustered she was feeling just because of him. 'So what if he is hot hmn?' She asked herself. 'He won't be the first hot guy you have ever seen before so why are you overreacting like this? Huh? Sure, he has an undeniable charm that lures women in, you're not the only one!
'So stop making a fool out of yourself whenever you are around him. Stop letting your guard down like that, besides, he is just a nice guy, you are the one making things complicated. He doesn't feel any special way towards you. Have you ever seen him blush when he is around you?'
"Are you that mad about the elevator?"
She flinched. Turning around, she saw Romeo standing behind her. "Huh?" She asked, her thin brow arching.
"You have been standing here for over two minutes frowning and throwing your hands in the air. You're not saying anything out loud which makes you look really crazy. All you keep doing is sighing and scoffing." Romeo explained to her.
She hadn't realized she had been doing that. In her head, she was just standing coolly while having a conversation with her mind. Her eyes fell close and she sighed, feeling like a fool all over again.
"You know what you have to do to make me go with you." Romeo started.
"I'm just going to tell them you are busy." She dug out her phone and dialed her step mother's number. The woman picked up almost immediately. "Oh Miranda, hello. So I--"
Romeo suddenly snatched the phone from her. "Hello mom? It's Romeo, I heard you were inviting me over for dinner tonight."
Cara reached for the phone but she was too short. "Give it back to me!" She harshly whispered as she kept jumping to reach his hand.
"Oh, yes we are." Miranda responded. "Are you available?"
"Of course I am, but I don't think Carina wants me there. She said she would sort it out that I didn't have to come even though I really do want to join you. My parents are on a trip and I'll have to be alone in my giant house."
"Oh my dear, you can come to us whenever you want to, you don't need Carina--uh Cara's permission to come over." Miranda stated.
Cara felt breathless. So she gave up, resting with her hands on her hips.
"Oh really? Then I'll do just that whenever I want to." He smiled from ear to ear.
Cara stared angrily at him, also swept off her feet by curiosity. She couldn't help but to wonder what Miranda was telling him.
"Do just that my dear." Miranda's sweet voice responded. "I'll make some delicious dessert for you to take with you. How is that?"
"I love anything brown and chocolate. Thank you, mom. I can keep calling you that right? If it makes you uncomfortable then I can just stop." Romeo's voice had turn gentle and cool.
"Alright dear. See you at eight tonight."
Romeo finally handed the phone back to her and she snatched it from his hands. He had a calm smile on his face. "We'll be having something made from chocolate as dessert, aren't you excited?"
"You are not going with me because I won't go on your cruise trip. Even if I was considering it before, I won't go at all now." She spat out with eyes widened with anger.
"Let's go somewhere for a while," he said calmly. "She is expecting us by eight."
She stared at him as he walked towards his car. Her brows creased. How could he be so calm whenever he wanted to be? She kept losing her cool because of him but to him, he was just messing with her.
"Stop letting him mess with you, Cara." She muttered to herself.
"Are you coming or not?" Romeo's voice caught her ear.
She sighed. "I'm taking my car and I am heading home." She responded and without waiting for a response, started towards her car.
Before she even realized it, a hand wrapped firmly around her wrist. She turned to look at him and her heart skipped a beat.
"Carina..." His voice caused the butterfly in her stomach to flutter. "Stop being so stubborn and come with me. There are some things I'd like to get and I need you there to help me choose."
She stared blankly at him. The whole world seemed to stop moving but by the time it picked up again, she was already inside his car with the seatbelt strapped around her. "Wait what...?" She muttered to herself.
"What is it?" Romeo asked.
"How did I... No, nothing, nevermind. So where are you taking me too?"
Romeo smiled softly. "You'll see."
She found herself smiling too. Why did he have to have such a contagious smile? Why did he have to look so good enough to make you feel good yourself as well? More importantly, why was he stupidly handsome? Did it make sense for a man to look that good?
No, it didn't make sense at all. It didn't make any sense!
It also didn't make any sense that she was always thinking about him these days. 'What is wrong with you Cara!' she beated herself up.
For the entire ride to wherever he was taking her to, she remained quiet. Not knowing what to say to him with the way she was feeling.
Arriving at a tall building, Romeo announced. "We are here."
She looked the building up and down. It was a shopping mall. She turned to look at him confusedly. "We are... Where exactly?"
"A shopping mall." He smiled broadly. "I would like to do a little shopping and I want you to help me choose."
