Chapter 164 No One Else Can Have Her
As she had all of their attention in the grasp of her hand, she took out her phone and played a recording.
Murmurs immediately filled the hall at what they heard. It was none other than Sarah Knowles, begging Jessica not to let her secret be known that Chris was not the son of his father and that she would do anything for Jessica to keep her secret and help her remain in the knowles family.
Every single word was typed and recorded by the enthusiastic journalists.
As the recording came to an end, Cara continued. "As convincing as the recording was, some people might say it was fabricated right? Well here's true evidence just in case."
Jessica appeared on the screen behind her with her son in her hands. She looked so afraid and tense.
Cara continued. "This is Jessica Knowles, ex wife of Chris Knowles. Yes, they are divorced. After finding out that Jeremy is not his own son, Chris attempted to murder him. If you don't believe the words from my own mouth, how about you hear it from the horse's mouth?"
She stepped aside so they could have a clearer view of Jessica.
Jessica's eyes suddenly filled with tears. "Everyone, everything she said is true and I am not AI generated, this is the real me. My son and I are in danger in the hands of Chris, he is a molester, a wife beater, a man who attempted to murder my son.
"Even if his trust was hurt when he found out that Jeremy was not his son, how could he try to murder a child?" Her face became wet with tears. "I was the one who instructed Sarah to frame Jessica so Chris would hate her and come back to me but I never expected him to find out the truth about Jeremy and try to kill us. I would have appeared in person but Chris has huntsmen after me so I have to hide to keep myself safe.
"I can't be on broadcast for too long so my location won't be tracked. I'm so sorry Cara."
The screen went blank.
People were stunned. They didn't know how to react to what they had just watched.
Cara stepped back towards the microphone. "The Knowles family is filled with psychos and monsters scarier than we have ever seen, not to mention all of their illegal biddings.
"This ledger," she took out a ledger from her bag and raised it in the air for the journalists to take pictures, "shows all of their illegal spendings which is currently being investigated. After it has been confirmed, the Armani family will know what step to take next regarding it."
She kept it back into her bag. "With all that has been said, I hope all of you can believe that I am actually a victim here. All I want is to live a normal life like everyone else but the Knowles family are after my life. I won't give in though, I deserve this no matter what anyone thinks. I deserve to be happy, I have the right to it."
With a sigh, she asked with an arched brow. "Questions?"
The hall was silent. Apparently no one knew what to ask, they were so stunned by what they had just heard.
At the absence of questions, Cara gave a bow and walked off the stage.
Sarah jumped up, startled by the breaking news she saw while scrolling through her phone. Micheal was startled by her sudden reaction and rose to his feet as well.
"What? What is it?"
She suddenly stumbled back into the couch, looking as pale as a ghost in an instant.
Micheal rushed towards her to help her but the sound of footsteps diverted his attention.
A young man walked in with his team behind him. "Good afternoon Mr Knowles, my name is officer Austin and I have with me an official search and seize warrant." He didn't even wait for a response before ordering his boys to go in and take everything they could find.
"Also, you are both under investigation so I would advice you to come with me peacefully or I could use handcuffs if you make me. I'm only trying to save you the shame." He blatantly said to them.
Micheal was confused as to what was happening. He hadn't watched the news, he was busy with his game of chess and didn't even turn on the TV.
"Wait I don't understand, what is going on?" Micheal asked confusedly.
"Everything will be explained to you once you get to the station. Please just come with me for now, I don't have patience for this."
In movies, whenever they mention good cop, bad cop, officer Austin was obviously the bad cop.
Truth be told, he had actually been on the Knowles family case for a while, he didn't trust their biddings so he wanted to find out the truth about them.
Having such evidence in his hands and being the officer in charge of investigating them further, he felt like his Christmas wish as a child finally came true.
Chris stared at the TV in the cafe, jaw dropped in confusion and surprise. He had not been aware of what was going on before until the cafe owner tuned in to the news so his customers could watch it.
He could not believe his own eyes, Cara was standing there, spilling all of his family's deepest darkest secrets.
He could hear judgemental murmurs from the people around him, words that stung more than a bee ever could.
He immediately rose to his feet and left before anyone could notice him and recognize him.
He possibly couldn't go back home, not after seeing the news update that his parents had been arrested and Jessica had fled with her son.
How did things go from bad to worse so quickly? Cara, why would she betray him like that? A restricting order? Why would she ever do something like that?
It must have been the work of that Armani spoilt brat!
Well he didn't care about what was going on, he refused to care. All that mattered to him was Cara and if he couldn't have her then nobody else could.
Nobody. Not even the Armani who had it all.
