Chapter 123 Retiring
The night went by in the blink of an eye, Jessica was wide awake all through. Her hunger had suddenly disappeared after her encounter with Sarah.
She had gone through her phone and truly realized that she did not have the video anymore. How it happened, she did not know. But she knew how angry it made her and the bitter aftertaste it left in her mouth.
How did that witch even get access to her phone if not by witchcraft?
But thinking about it would solve nothing. The video was gone and there was no getting it back.
As the day got brighter and brighter, fear dug its wretched nails deeper and deeper into her skin and all she could do was remain there defenseless. Nursing the pain with nothing but her emotions.
As the clock hit seven, she came to decision. She had better not killed herself before death would come and take her.
She was hungry and tired from not eating for so long. So she got off her bed and walked into the bathroom to freshen up. Picking up her toothbrush, she brushed her teeth and took her bathe.
Putting on a green floral mini dress that hugged her body tightly, she made her hair into a ponytail and applied light make up on her face.
Confidently, she went out of her bedroom and went to the kitchen. The house helps were already preparing breakfast.
They bowed their heads to show their respect to her. Most of them murmured softly to themselves, it had been a while since they had seen her because she had always been hiding behind her bedroom door.
Now she was out looking confident and powerful like she always did. She opened the fridge and stared at the things available. "I need a fruit salad right away." She ordered, not pointing at anyone in particular but throwing her order to the air.
The house helps as well did not bother to waste time trying to choose who would go, the last thing they wanted was to face her wrath.
About three of them rushed forward at once and stopped not too close but not too far either from Jessica. "Yes ma'am."
"I want apples and melons and banana, hold the strawberry, also some berries. Just anything and everything else apart from strawberry. I don't want strawberry." She ordered with a strict look on her face.
They immediately nodded their head in response and started doing what she had ordered them.
While she waited, she took an apple and started eating it to keep her mouth busy. The fruit salad did not waste any time tough because the maids did not want to see her get angry.
Immediately they finished it, they dished it in a beautiful manner and served it to her. She picked up the tray herself and went into the living room to enjoy some television while eating her fruit salad.
The milk inside was just about enough, the way she normally liked it. 'Who would have guessed that those puny lizards would remember the way I like my fruit salad to be?' She thought to herself.
A few minutes later, she was done with her salad and she had already finished watching her show. So she picked up her phone and began scrolling through the Internet for anything interesting.
Around eight that morning, her husband and his parents walked down the stairs and joined her in the living room. They would be lying if they said they were not surprised to see her there, knowing well that she had hidden herself away for the past few days.
Chris stared suspiciously at his wife, thinking that she was up to one of her no good plans again. "Well look what the cat dragged out of its hiding hole?" He said with an arched brow. "To what do we owe this pleasure?"
Jessica could tell that her husband was teasing her but she decided not to care about it.
Instead, she smiled softly as she spoke. "The cooks are done preparing breakfast, would you like to eat first or shall we discuss while we eat about the outcome of my visitation to the Armani family?"
Sarah smiled contentedly. "Well I don't see any reason why we can't discuss it while we eat. I am actually quite famished."
Micheal Knowles nodded his head as well and they all agreed to discuss while they ate.
Sitting around the well constructed dining table fit for more than their number, the cooks brought in their breakfast and decorated the table with it.
Sarah asked them to bring in a very special bottle of red wine and Micheal was confused as to why she wanted to drink something like that rather than a regular bottle. "Why do you ask them to bring such a special bottle of wine when we are not hosting anything special?" He asked his wife.
Sarah smiled softly. "Oh but my love, I am actually celebrating something special. It is not a must we drink it on a day every single one of us are celebrating something special." She explained to him.
Micheal decided not to question his wife further. She was a very cunning woman and only the heavens knew exactly what she was plotting. All he knew was that whatever it was, he did not want to be a part of it.
Jessica bit down on her tongue, holding herself back from cussing at the woman. Forcing a smile to her face, she started. "Well, after my meeting with the Armani family... I have come to realize that it was my fault, what happened to us. I caused it out of my actions and I personally volunteered to..." She swallowed hard, almost choking on her saliva and her fist clenched tightly on her lap. "Step down from my position just to save us from a lifelong of paying debts we will never be able to repay."
All jaw dropped, except from Sarah whose smile widened. Never had they expected to hear something like that from Jessica not even in a lifetime.
