Chapter 110 A Simple Merger
Cara despised pettiness, so she despised herself for what she did next. "Remember, Jessica, that bug could still be around here." She hinted at Jessica's ugly secret.
Jessica knew what she was saying and fell quiet. She clenched her fist in anger.
Cara continued. "If it pleases you that I leave the room, I will, just know that whatever Romeo decides is of his own choice and not mine."
Jessica still did not say anything.
Tori shook her head, "that's absolute nonsense." She touched Cara's hand softly. "You are the new woman in the home of the Armani, every decision taken shall be in front of you. We are one. You can counter his words if you wish, or you can comply. Whatever you do will be accepted because you are a part of us now."
Cara responded with a soft smile.
"Now," Romeo started off in a tone that rose with authority, "back to your case. My decision still stands, same as it was before. The Knowles family has been with us for a while now, sure, but ever since power was switched, things have not been the same.
"If you want me to revoke my words then all power will have to return to one man and one man alone, Michael Knowles, he will be the director and all decision will be made through him. Of course they have to be approved by me first.
"And your position will be filled by someone else. An outsider. Your husband though can still remain as the manager."
Jessica's eyes widened. "What? That's absurd! I just got my position and I have not even been able to do anything! Besides, my husband should be the one to be replaced! Not me! He's useless and all he does is spend company funds on prstitutes!"
"That is my condition. If you cannot accept it then I hope your family is willing to pay me back, in full, the eighty percent investment I made." Romeo said firmly.
Jessica almost hissed in annoyance. She knew that their family would go beyond broke if they ever tried to repay Romeo all of the money he had invested in them.
No one in the Knowles family would ever even accept to such an absurd thing because they did not have enough money to repay him.
It was unfair to her, she was being kicked out either way. How could she lose power before even getting to use it?
For the first time ever, the man with mesmerizing emerald eyes did not seem so attractive to Jessica anymore.
Not that she was not still seduced by his charms, her anger was just getting the best of her at that moment.
Romeo picked up where he left off. "Whatever you and your family decides, you can reach out to my secretary and let us know then we'll continue from there. That will be all from me today, you can stay for lunch, after all, you were invited by my parents."
Jessica was not shameless enough to stay for a meal, irrelevant of the fact that she had been trying to get a reservation at that restaurant for a very long time.
Their food was said to be top notch. Their tea alone that she drank was so good she had to wonder what kind of ingredients or flowers they used.
But she forced herself to her feet and bowed before leaving. Another visible factor she could not stay was the man with blue eyes watching her as she left the room.
Anger was not enough to describe how she was feeling.
Cara and her fiancé family decided on a steak to have for their meal. They ate and discussed several matters both work related and personal things.
They had just finished talking about a big deal that Romeo had once again landed for the Armani family. Tori stated that this time, he would celebrate with his parents at home and not some cruiser with his friends.
Romeo simply laughed. He had no intention of going on water for a while to come anyway.
"So Cara," Tori said, "after the marriage, I was thinking we could merge our companies."
Cara's brow arched in confusion. "Merge our companies?"
"Well yes. Once you get married, you will no longer be Cara Smith, you are aware right? You will be Cara Armani." Tori stated.
Cara nodded. "Uhm, yes, I am aware of that. But I was not aware that we have to merge our companies."
"Oh it's not like you have to, it's not some tradition or something. But I'm just saying that it would be better off that way, I mean why do we need two different companies when we are one family? We could just make it another branch of ours. Nothing is going to change, you'll still be in charge like you are now, it's just that it will be an Armani property." Tori explained to her.
"Hmm, that makes sense."
"I think it's okay too."
Both Marcus Armani and Giovanni agreed to Tori's idea. Romeo by the way, was focused on his meal and some paper documents in his hand. No one bothered to disturb him and he did not bother to interfere in their talks.
Cara did not know how to respond. Was it really necessary for her to do that? It was her own company after all, it belonged to her. Why did she have to sell the name to the Armani family?
She smiled softly while Tori continued.
"You know that way, you will no longer need us as an investor. Funds will be given to you to manage the company. You'll be the branch manager, the head of that district. You'll keep doing what you are doing, it's just a simple merger. It will change nothing." She waved her hand like it was a petty matter she was talking about. "Think about it and give me your answer later, no rush."
Tori might had said it would not change anything but it would change everything for Cara. She let out a soft sigh.
