Chapter 109 A Pretty Liar

Chapter 109 A Pretty Liar

As Jessica noticed that they were all walking towards her, she rose to her feet and tried to act as composed as ever. "So...?"

Cara wanted to roll her eyes, knowing well that Jessica was acting like she was not worried of the situation. Romeo could discard her right away if he wanted to, Jessica ought to be smart enough to know that.

But she said nothing about it and continued. "It has been decided. Both of you, you are going to pretend like you don't know each other. We are just going to tell Mr and Mrs Armani that you have a very low tolerance rate for bugs and you saw one under the table. That was why you ran out."

"And if they ask about the bug or want to call the manager to take care of it?" Jessica questioned.

"Then we will just tell them it has been taken care of. No story." Cara responded.

Jessica was silent for a while before speaking. "Why are you helping me this much? It makes my skin crawl."

"Because no matter how much of a btch you are to me, I am not a petty woman and I want to actually fight you back the right way."

Without uttering another word, she turned and walked away.

Jessica swallowed uncomfortably and went back into the room as well with the boys behind her.

Mr and Mrs Armani who had been left in the dark for so long watched the party return into the room. "Are you alright? What's the problem?" Tori questioned out of worry.

They went ahead with the lie Cara had made up and when Mr and Mrs Armani actually offered to change the room, they said it had been taken care of.

As ambiguous as the story sounded, they went with it anyway and carried on to why they had decided to meet up in the first place.

"So," Mr Marcus Armani said, "I am all ears, Mrs Jessica Knowles."

Jessica smiled. "Okay. So what actually happened was... There was a nod understanding that day, the happenings are not really clear to me because I was traumatized that day. You see... My husband has not really been much of a husband to me, same thing with that day, I was angry.

"It is no suspense to us all that your daughter in law to be was married to my husband for years. I was furious when I saw him smiling with her and acting like their love had rekindled. So I acted involuntarily and created a scene but I deeply resent my actions from that day and I wish to make things right."

She wiped a tear that was not there. "You see, we can be more than what we are, business does not have to be the only thing that brings us together. We can try to be closer but you have the upper hand and only if you will allow it will it come to pass."

Mr Marcus turned to look at his wife, her expression was blank. She did not look convinced by Jessica's story but neither did she look irritated.

Marcus touched his wife's hand softly and she smiled. "Well," Tori started in a soft tone. "I actually watched the news that day, it was a live stream even and I witnessed everything that happened with my own eyes. The whole world did.

"You insulted the Armani family, called us different things which translates to manipulative, domineering, money driven fools! You said it yourself that you did not care if we cut off every business deal with your company because we are not the only investors.

"According to your words, we are full of ourselves, prideful," she laughed softly. "I don't even like to remember it. Do you know that your words that day could have caused a lot of damage for our company? For our name built by our forefathers?! Now you want to have a nice relationship with us? You blame your actions on your husband?"

"I don't even hear an apology." Cara added in a cold tone.

Jessica turned to glare at her, why was she making matters worse? Did she help her just to destroy her?

She remembered Cara's words, all she wanted was a sincere apology. She wanted to fight fairly. Well, that was not her way of doing things. It was never the way of doing things in the Rhodes family.

They did whatever it took to get what they wanted while making sure their pride was never hurt. And an apology would definitely crash her pride.

So fck the help Cara had offered her to sit in that seat, what was important now was getting what she wanted.

She smiled softly at Cara, "Miss Smith, I appreciate your contribution." She said, trying to remind Cara that she was not an Armani yet and so she had no say in the matter.

Cara knew exactly what she was hinting at and she scoffed softly.

Tori turned her attention to her son now. "Since, for reasons known to Jessica alone, you and your fiancée were the ones invited to the event in your father and I stead then I leave the judgment to you."

Jessica's broke shot up questioningly. "But... But I came to you because I needed you to help me resolve the matter and not leave it in the hands of your son. Your son will not be able to make a clear decision, he is going to be manipulated by his fiancée into kicking me out!

"I don't know if you know this but she and I used to be best of friends but her husband left her for me and she has been trying to get revenge ever since! This might be a chance for her! Please don't do this to me!" She pleaded desperately.

Cara could not believe the words that were coming out of Jessica's mouth. She had thought Jessica would learn to play fair after what happened but she was still being as petty as she had always been!

She was disgusted by her.
