Chapter 102 Accepted
Cara gave a soft bow of her head as she bid farewell to the Armani family. The day had gone by very quickly, almost as fast as the blink of an eye.
She had a soft smile on her face, a smile that didn't even bother to try to measure up to the happiness inside of her. She was not excited that she was going to become a part of the Armani family, rather, she was excited that she was going to move from Romeo's girlfriend to his wife.
Waking up by his side every single morning would be a massive dream come true.
Romeo stood by her side, his hands at his side as he bowed his head to show his respect to his parents. He had always been the respectful kind.
Tori gave a soft smile on response. "It was lovely to have you over, Cara. I haven't seen my son smile so widely and sincerely in a very long time."
"We hardly even see our son, we just know that he is doing s good job taking care of the company." Marcus added with his usual not to firm but not to lenient expression.
Cara smiled. "Thank you for having me over. I am overjoyed to have received any attention from you at all." She responded.
"When will you come over again?"
They all stared surprisedly at the person that had spoken. Surprise filled their eyes-- mostly Cara and Tori-- as they realized it was Marcus who had just spoken.
Tori always believed her husband could never like a person on the first day of their meeting. He was the kind who took a very long time to warm up to someone. That was how he was to her when the first got married and that was how he had always been to her friends and some people they had met later on in their lives after their marriage.
So why was he suddenly asking Cara when she would come over again? Had he fallen for the young woman's charms?
Cara too was surprised because of what Tori had told her about him but she tried not to show it too much. She casted a glance at Tori and the woman simply gave a shrug of her shoulders in response.
Cara looked back at him and smiled. "I--I would be honored to come running over at your call, sir. I mean it."
Marcus' lips pushed back into a slight smile. "Good. I hope you mean that because I will call you soon. Let's play some golf or something."
She chuckled softly. "Yes sir, I will be looking forward to that call." She excitedly responded.
She was even more surprised to see Marcus' smile grow wider.
They said goodbye to the Romeo's parents and Romeo offered to drive Cara home with her car since he only wanted to drop her home.
Cara was still surprised as she sat in the front seat of the car next to fiancé.
Romeo could not help but to notice this and he questioned not just the surprised look on her face but the tears from earlier and everything that happened in his absence, "what happened today?" He asked with a slight arch of his brow.
Cara turned her head to look at him. "Hmph?" She responded, not hearing his question as she was drowned in her own thoughts.
"Today, what really happened? What is with the mix of emotion?" He narrowed his question down.
"Oh!" She smiled softly. "Nothing bad at least. I got your parents permission as you can tell and I am just so happy." She explained.
"So... The tears from earlier were..."
"Tears of joy." She completed the sentence for him with a nod of her head as well. "I was just so happy."
Romeo wanted to mention the pain in her eyes but he decided not to press further. Instead, he asked; "and now? What has gotten you so surprised?" He spared her a glance before focusing on the road in front of him.
"Oh... That's because..." She thought about how to place it to words. "Well you see, your mom, she told me something about your dad..."
Romeo's brow arched softly, his emerald eyes spared her another glance. "Did she? And what is that that she told you about him?"
"Well, she said it takes years for him to warm up to someone. She said it doesn't show if he actually likes someone and it will take years before he can actually openly show any signs of affection to someone.
"She explained to me that it took years before he could actually warm up to her and treat her like his wife. So even if he liked me, I should not be expecting him to show it.
"That was why I was surprised when he asked me when I would be visiting him again and also to play golf with him."
"Ohh..." Romeo moaned softly. "I thought it was because you could not play golf."
"Oh no not at all, I actually play golf very well. I was just surprised that he actually smiled at me. It made me feel happy."
Romeo smiled softly. "That's good to hear. Actually, my dad is not that kind of person, well at least to me he is not. He is very kind to my friends and I am closer to him then I am with my mom.
"He is the one all my friends always want to be around. He knows how to make people feel at home so I guess if he isn't like that with someone then he actually wants to take his time to carefully assess the person and know all there is to know.
"So the fact that he was like that with my mom, well... It is kind of expected. It was an arranged marriage after all. There's a history behind it. You see he had a woman he was involved with at the time but he had to leave her to do what his parents wanted.
"To be with my mom. So it's understandable that it took years for him to truly open up to her."
Cara had not known such history. She swallowed.
