Chapter 101 Greedy Love
The gentle breeze whipped against Cara's face, playing with the loose strands of her hair and caressing her cheeks. She took slow steps forward, allowing her legs move at their own will and nothing more.
Her hands were placed by her side, she strolled in her high heels like they were a part of her feet.
Her lips may have remained silent and still, but her mind roared with thoughts, tearing up her brain. It was a massacre.
All she wanted was peace and silent, to calm the ongoing storm in her own head. So she took to the gardens after her meal with Romeo's parents. She was waiting till romeo arrived.
The several scents of a wide collection of flowers wasp against her face and filled up her nostrils, creating a one of a kind cologne. The sight alone should have been calming, not to mention the tantalizing scent.
But nothing was working, Cara brain still allowed itself get ambushed by thoughts.
Firstly, in a thousand years, she would have never thought that Tori Armani, soon to be her mother in law, would ever come to apologize to someone like her.
It confused her and surprised her at the same time. Why would Tori Armani apologize to her? Was it because she was no longer a nameless nobody? Because she had a company to her name?
After all, a family like the Armani would see every opportunity as a chance to grow in business and wealth. Even marriage was an opportunity. So why would they suddenly want to settle for less?
In a million years, she would never become a suitable match for a man like Romeo Armani. That was part of the reasons she stingily loved him.
Did Romeo really convince his parents that she was the one he wanted? Maybe he had made it clear that if it wasn't her then it would be no one and they had no choice because they wanted to see their grandchildren.
But that was still not reason enough for Tori Armani to utter an apology from her perfectly full lips. The woman was a goddess, she owed no one but herself an explanation for whatever she did.
But Tori had suddenly become so humble enough that it was suspicious.
Cara knew that no amount of thinking could ever bring an answer to her now aching head. Rather than chasing away all thoughts, she let her mind wander back to the fact that one factor had caused her to separate from Romeo and go through hell and high waters.
She would have never cut ties with Romeo if she had not overheard his mother that day. If only she had not listened, if she had not even gone to his home that day, what would have actually been her fate?
Would she still have married Chris? Would she had gone through the heart wrenching pain of divorce? Would she have gotten married to Romeo instead?
All those thoughts caused a heavy storm in her mind. Her eyes pricked with tears for some reason. "It could have been different..." She muttered to herself.
Warmth encircled her waist suddenly and she felt her body press a solid surface. Romeo's handsome face dropped down to kiss her cheek as he hugged her tighter and closer to himself. "What could have been different?" He questioned with a subtle arch of his brow.
Her lips spread into a smile. She felt so comforted at once, her aching heart and head felt lighter as the ache fled without hesitation.
She wished he could hug her so tightly until their bodies became one. "Us." She responded softly.
Romeo's expression was soft yet confused. "Us? Why would you want us to be different?"
She turned herself to face him, her eyes staring into his emerald ones. Her smile grew wider yet not even expressing the joy she was feeling by half.
Tears glistened in her eyes, her smile never fading, and a single droplet came tumbling down her cheek. Her small hands raised to his smooth face and cupped it gently.
Romeo no longer had a smile on his face though. His gentle expressions morphed into deeper confusion and pain. How much it hurt him just to see a single droplet of tears in her eyes.
He immediately wiped it away, worry drenching his soul. "What's going on? Why are you in tears? Did my parents... Say something to you? Speak to me Cara." The questions left his mouth desperately after the other.
She smiled and shook her head. Her hands around his face wrapped around his neck and she brought herself to her toes just to get to his face.
Even as at that, Romeo had to bend forward for their faces to meet.
Softly, like the gentle caress of the breeze, she placed a kiss on his lips, electrifying her soul as well as his own.
The electricity flowed, zapped through their bodies and awoke a dangerous aching inside of Cara. She wanted him, she needed him, she craved him, though feeling like she did not deserve him.
Even if she felt that way, she refused to care. She had taught herself to be greedy, in life, it was advisable to aspire for things that were not in ones reach. At least sometimes.
This was one of those "sometimes" and she did not plan on letting her catch go. Did it sound weird that she had called him her catch in her own head?
Pulling away from him, it was just them in the entire world. Well at least it felt like it. Romeo did not understand what was going on, but he listened to her silence and watched her unmoving body.
He was in love with that woman with everything he had and he feared that he could not do without her. Even in death.
Cara felt the same way too. She wanted him in that life, in death and in the next life. She caressed his face softly while staring at him like it was the last time she would ever see him again. Like she wanted a sculpture of him crafted in her brain.
"I love you..." She softly whispered to him.
