Chapter 76 The Ambush After The Negotiation

Chapter 76 The Ambush After The Negotiation
Lucas's POV

“You're speaking with the man who kidnapped your daughter,” I started on a scary note.

I figured that hitting the nail on the head would get his attention quicker than expected.

“You are what? Is this a joke? You really need to stop this game you're playing with me. My daughter is at home with my wife and me.” Kingston lied.

“Where are you even getting your information from? You're losing your mind” Kingston made fun of me.

He didn't think I was being serious. He tried to play a fast one on me without realising the big problem he's creating for himself.

“Shut the fuck up, Kingston,” I silenced him. “What kind of father are you?”

“Do you really care about the life of your daughter? From what you just said, I can bet my life that you're not her biological father,” I challenged him.

His actions just proved that I may be telling the truth. His nonchalance irks me. I feel like punching his face through the phone.

No sane father will say those words after finding out that his daughter has been kidnapped.

His display of mockery forced me to yell at him, “Do you really think I'll call you just to waste my time?”

“Your daughter will be shot dead in the head any moment from now if you refuse to heed my instructions,” I threatened him.

“Please don't hurt her,” he panicked. “She's too fragile,”

“I promise to do anything you say to ensure she stays alive. She's all I have got,” he vowed.

Yelling at him worked for me eventually. That's the only language he understands.

Violence had always been the way out of any mess. Whoever prefers simplicity over ruthlessness should be dealt with mercilessly for lacking the basic knowledge of life.

“Just name your price and your wish will be granted. Amina is my heir apparent. I'm too weak to start having another child,” he lamented.

What a way to open the floor for me to make my request. I was gonna state the demand before he popped the question. He just made my job a lot easier than I imagined.

“Five million dollars and Amira will live,” I stated my demand to Kingston.

“Failure to do so, prepare to receive her corpse. I will shoot her in the throat where she can't stand a chance of surviving,” I revealed my plans to Kingston.

I had fun doing that. I wish I were there with him to see the reaction on his face.

I didn't bother introducing myself to him, knowing how worthless it is.

That would have been the initial plan if Parker were still alive. He knows how to handle a critical situation like this.

“Five million what?” Kingston reacted negatively.

“I wasn't wrong for calling you a comedian because you're sounding like one. Too bad your jokes are too dry to crack me up,” Kingston deploys yet another means to discourage me.

Somehow, it worked for him until I had to spank my head to remind myself of what's at stake.

“Where do you expect me to get such an outrageous amount from? You may have mistaken me for someone who prints money on trees. You really need to stay away from drugs before it messes you up,” he pretends to be broke.

He has no idea that I've done my research about him before initiating this call.

“Nice try, Kingston.” I applauded him for the effort in trying to pull me down.

“I expect you to go get the money from the same company you stole from my father, you traitor,” I let the car out of the bag.

That wasn't supposed to come out of my mouth at any point in this conversation.

Blame it on Kingston, who just pushed me to the limit. He brought out the beast in me that I've been harbouring for decades.

Kingston didn't respond. My rage sponsors his silence. I'm pretty sure he's racking his brain to decipher what I'm talking about and why I called him a traitor.

“Sorry, what's your name again? I may have missed that,” He asked me in a relaxed tone. I guessed right again. I just hit a nerve.

“I'm Lucas Hernandez, the son of Don Pedro Williams Hernandez whom you murdered and took over his company. Does that name ring a bell in your head, or do you need me to do another introduction?” I broke the camel's back with my shocking revelation.

This is meant to be the original plan, and I am pleased to have fallen back on it. Parker will be proud of me that I managed to pull this through without him.

“That's a lie. You must be a ghost. You are meant to be dead. My assassins told me that they eliminated you,” Kingston freaked out like a kid who just lost his candy.

It took him a while to speak. He needed to process the authentication of my information.

I'm not standing next to him, but I can feel his heart beating faster. It appears as if it wants to pull off his chest.

“That was what we wanted you to believe. My brother and I. This ain't got nothing to do with your assassins. They carried out the job they were paid to do. Let's just say we just rose from the dead. Haha,” I mocked him with wicked laughter

“Now let's get to the main discourse,” I switched back to character. “I have all the evidence that you murdered my father in cold blood. It's inside his diary. I am willing to publish to the media if you refuse to meet my demands,”

“How do I find you?” He bowed to pressure. “I don't want to lose my reputation. I have worked so hard to attain this success,”

That happened so fast. I never knew he was such a weakling. The Kingston I read about on the internet is stronger than the lion.

It's difficult to break him down. He's more fearless than a hyena. It's funny how I made him dance to my tune, and I did it effortlessly.

“I'd text the address to your phone in a bit and with the instructions to follow,” I said to him.

I had no plans of leading him to the warehouse since I'd be leaving soon. I am pretty sure that Amira will be working tirelessly behind the scenes to get me arrested.

“I need you to come alone. If you dare involve the cops, trust me, you'd be responsible for whatever happens to your daughter,” I warned Kingston.

I also explained to him how I derived joy in peeing at Amira to my satisfaction.

He nearly puked over the phone. That must have irritated him. I did that to send a message across to him that I am not to be messed with.

“Can I speak to my daughter, please? I need to be sure that she's alive," he requested.

I ended the call before he was done making his request.

“What nonsense?” I hissed.

It took him ages to get back to his senses. I thought that would be the first question he'd ask me.

A thousand times he called, and not for once, did I respond.

He eventually gave up when it dawned on him that I was never going to answer the phone.

“Yes, I am gonna be rich forever. What a time to be alive,” I exclaimed in joy and celebrated my victory even before the final whistle was blown.

I counted my eggs before they were hatched because I was so sure that nothing could stop me now, not even Parker's ghost.

I am already making plans on how to spend the five million dollars once I receive it.

Like the president of a country, I walk to my car. I was about to enter when six police cars pulled up out of the blue.

Without hesitation, I rushed inside the car intending to drive outside, but unfortunately for me, five cops stormed out of their cars and stood in front of my car, with their guns aimed at me.

I was stuck on the spot. I couldn't try anything stupid, or else I'll be joining Parker in hell.

“Just step outside the car now, or we'd be forced to shoot,” one of them warned me after cocking the gun.

I was eager to see the end of this. I was planning my next move when I saw Sheriff Maurice and Mark stepping down from the car to lead the operation.

It just had to be them. They weren't alone, they were accompanied by Amira.

“Amira?” My voice echoes back to me as though I were in an empty room.

“How did she come across the cops so easily? I thought she just escaped?” I came up with different narratives to understand the situation better.

She stares at me with so much despair. All she needed right now was a gun to blow my fucking brains off. I just goofed for the second time.

Staying in the warehouse longer than expected was where I got it all wrong. That small miscalculation is about to cost me my life.
