Chapter 81 81
"We'll deal with that separately. I'm not taking him to court." He glanced at Eric, "Get Ryder in prison before Alexa wakes up." He said, his eyes staring at him with trust.
"Rest assured." Eric said with a nod and he gave a small smile before walking out.
He got to the door, waiting for a moment as he watched Louisa pat Alexa's hand slowly with a white napkin. She stared at her carefully with love and released a tired weary breath.
Liam swallowed nothing down as he opened the door and walked in, "I would take care of things here. Why don't you go back and rest?" He asked, collecting the napkin.
"Don't worry, she's my daughter. I'm supposed to stay-"
"You know I wouldn't hurt Alexandra, right?" He cut her short and she licked her lips.
"Liam, would you leave her? Now or anytime in the future? I need to know before putting my daughter in your hands the second time. I've seen your efforts but..." She shook her head, "it's not enough. I need assurance. I want your words for it."
Liam stared at her without a word. He understood her. She was trying to protect her daughter from further harm but she needed to understand that he would never and could never leave Alexandra no matter what.
"Till the day I take my breath, your daughter would be the person I live for. Alexa....is the only lady I can keep on my mind." He said.
"And that doesn't change?" She asked.
"It doesn't. It'll never change." He shook his head, "So don't worry and go home for now." He said and she smiled.
"I need to tell the kids what happened. It'll be bad to keep them in the dark for too long. They have the right to know." She said. Liam bowed his head slowly, he wished no one would ever tell them. It was just a day after their birthday.
"Don't worry. I'll tell them in a way hat they'll be strong. Alexa is never leaving them." Louisa squeezed Liam's hand in assurance and he released a deep breath, trusting her this time.
Five minutes after Louisa left, Doreen rushed in, "It's Stella." She said, flying in with some sort of paper. Liam frowned at her and placed a finger on his lips for her to lower her voice. She understood immediately and kept it low.
"It was Stella. She was drunk and she drove the truck herself to hit the boss's car." Doreen said.
"How did you- the CCTV didn't get that." Liam took the paper from her and truthfully the photos were all there.
"Also, apart from the smuggling in boss's goods, they were normally into smuggling of materials from the banned sea ports." Doreen muttered and Liam smirked lightly.
"Submit this. They have to place a restriction ban on her movement before she left the country. We found out too late. How did you get this?"He asked.
"Adele."
"That sly fox." Liam hissed as he nodded his head and Doreen immediately left to submit the information. Liam picked his phone and clicked on Adele's number.
"What's the problem?" She asked the moment she picked up.
"You said you weren't going to help with the information." He said, pocketing one hand as he walked to the open window, staring outside.
"Yeah, I changed my mind. Being family and childhood friends can't do all the trick, Liam. I needed something better, Velvet Vixen offered that." She smirked as if he could see her. Liam scoffed lightly,
"What important thing did they offer you?"
"An urgent wedding dress made by Velvet Vixen and guess what, I don't have to pay a shit for it."
"Alexandra is sick right now. How do you expect her to create a dress for you?" He shot.
Adele shrugged, slurping her wine noisily to anger him the more, "How am I supposed to know, Liam? Ask your wife when she wakes up or do you think I don't know about the keeping of the divorce paper?. I practically came into the picture and cleared out all the rats for her. This should be easy for her, don't you think?" She asked and Liam sighed.
"Doreen would think of something."
"You aren't the owner of Velvet Vixen. I don't want to hear anything encouraging from you about them." She said and Liam licked his lips.
"Adele....."
"I never thought love could change you this way." Adele cut him short as she released a small breath. "I came back after all these years when you broke my heart in highschool but you are still the same. You don't really care what you do if it involves someone you love, do you?"
"Do you think I'm reckless?" He asked and she scoffed.
"Reckless, my foot. You might be impulsive but definitely not reckless." She paused, you'll be coming for my wedding, won't you?" She asked.
"I will." He said, "With Alexa."
"Then one last gift." Adele muttered and smirked when she felt the rising tension between them through the phone call. He was clearly interested. Does life really works this way?
"Reed Miller is back." She said.
Liam's fingers tightly wrapped his phone, "I can't be bothered with him right now."
"I know. But this time I'm leaving you to fix your shit. I would leave the country immediately after my wedding. Goodbye." She smirked and ended the call immediately.
Liam was about to call her back when he heard a movement and he quickly turned, his hand moving to drop his phone in his pocket.
"Are you awake?" He asked, staring at her.
Her eyes were slightly opened from the mask but she soon closed them back again. He immediately left to call the doctor.
"She's recovering. I can say that is a good process. Frankly, I didn't expect her to be able to open her eyes that fast. We'll have to keep watching her." The man said and Liam smiled as he walked out of the room.
"She's strong." He muttered, "She'd never leave." He added.
