Chapter 54 54
"We are home." Cassidy called loudly as she pushed the door open and the twins rushed in.
"Mommy." They hugged her tight.
"Calm down. Your mom isn't fully well yet. Let's not forget she went to the hospital." Cassidy said and Alexa glared at her.
"They don't know." She mouthed secretly and Alexa smiled in return.
"Are you okay?" Jade asked worriedly, "Dad called last night and said you were asleep because you were a little bit tired." She muttered and hugged her more tightly.
"Mom was just a little bit tired. Dad had just rushed her to the hospital out of concern." Alexa replied cockily and Jace frowned.
"You fainted, didn't you?" He folded his hands and stood straight, "Mommy, are you sick?" He asked and Alexandra smiled lightly.
"I'm not. I'm fine now. Now about you guys go have a shower and then come downstairs for lunch?" She asked.
"Alright mommy." They repeated and rushed upstairs immediately.
"Are you okay?" Cassidy asked immediately the kids were out of their hearing.
"I'm fine." Alexandra replied, walking back into the kitchen.
"Are you serious?" Cassidy asked again, "I know you can't be fine after hearing what happened. The video of Liam rushing into that building is all over the internet. As a matter of fact, the hate for him is slowly dying down. Everyone says he truly loves you. You can't be fine with that." Cassidy said and Alexandra covered the pot, resting her back on the counter as she turned towards her friend.
"Liam is crazy." She muttered.
Cassidy took a deep breath, "It's obvious. I hate him a lot but with everything he's doing, I'm not sure. You sure you don't want him back? He almost died saving your life. At least forgive him." She said.
Alexandra rolled her eyes, "You hate him."
"I'm not sure." She muttered.
After lunch, Cassidy stayed with her for about an hour before finally leaving and then Louisa's call came in.
"So you wouldn't call me if I didn't call?" Louisa snapped.
"I didn't want to bother you." Alexandra replied calmly.
"Alexandra, I know you are avoiding me because of Liam but I am your mother. You can't keep things like this from me. I would never have known if I didn't watch it on the news." Louisa sounded disappointed.
"I wasn't trying to keep it away from you. I just...I just wanted to take care of the kids first ..."
"You are also my child." Louisa sighed and Alexa heard a sniff.
"Why are you crying? I'm not dead."
"How did you expect me to know when you didn't call immediately!?" Louisa shot and finally burst into a full blown crying phase.
Alexandra dropped the phone on her bed, her eyes glassy as she listened to her mother sobs.
"What would have happened if I had lost you?" Louisa said.
"You would have to take care of the kids because Liam would have died there too." She muttered in reply.
"You fool." Louisa sniffed.
"Not know mum."
"I'm coming to your place tomorrow. Just get lots of rest and I'll do the rest." Louisa said and Alexandra.
"I actually need you right here." She muttered and Louisa chuckled.
"What would you do without me?."
That night, it took a lot time for Alexandra to sleep and when she finally did, memories of eight years ago came rushing. When she first met him, with that hardened face that could kill. With a face that stabs. Could she ever forget that?
And when she finally made her way into her heart and healed him up, his first smile. It was crazy to know how that warmed her heart. He was so free with her. But what had changed? When had Liam changed?
"He rushed into the building for her. He never loved me like that." Stella muttered, her red face full of sadness as she drowned her fifteen cup of hot drink.
"Let's go home." Sam sighed, pulling her hand up.
"Can't you do it again?" Stella dragged her hand away from and gave him a small smile, "You did it five years ago and successfully tore them apart. Can't you do it again?" She asked, holding her hand up to support her chin.
Sam's eyes darkened, "That's a long time ago, Stella. I stopped things like that."
"But I'm your sister..." She muttered, pressing her lips together tightly, "You promised together forever didn't you?" Her eyes were getting glassy as she sighed, relaxing back on the chair.
"I've never liked someone the way I liked Liam and I really wish he could be mine. I can't let that btch take him away from me."
"If Liam doesn't like you, leave it at that. You can't force someone to love you." He said.
"I can, only if you help me, Sam. Just like you did before." She held his fingers, pressing them tight and muttered the words again, "Just like you did before." Her grip on his hands loosened and Sam placed his hand right on the table just as her head fell on it.
She had never looked this sad. Not when when her heart was broken in California five years ago. Not even when she found out Liam got married. Not since she heard about their mother's dead. It was the last time and Sam had promised she'd never look that way again and here she was once more, that sad.
"Alexa is the best friend of the woman I love, Stella. Can she really be broken apart this time?" He muttered.
