Chapter 100 100
"Drop your weapons." A voice sounded and footsteps filled the quiet cave. Ryder cocked his gun again, targeting Alexa but the several sounds of gunshots made him halt in his movement, his hands falling to his side as blood escaped from his lips.
He fell to one knee, and then hit his head hardly on the ground, splitting it open. His body was designed with various holes as blood rushed out of them.
With his eyes wide open, red and teary, Ryder took his last breath, staring at Alexa. He'd loved her to death. There was no other definition, yet, she refused to see him.
Her eyes were glued on Liam who fell to his knees in front of her, his eyes glassy. Her fingers caressed his cheeks, as tears escaped her eyes shamelessly.
"Li...am?" She called as a question. Was he still alive? He was staring right back at her and a smile was on his lips but blood splurted out of his mouth when he tried to talk and she cried more, her body vibrating. She couldn't lose him, she just couldn't lose him.
"You are safe. That's all that matters." He murmured.
"Don't say a word, okay? You'll be alright. I'll make sure of that, don't worry. I'll make sure you make it out of here in one complete piece. You'd be fine!" She shot.
"Let the paramedics do their job." Cassidy pulled her away from Liam as the medicals moved towards him.
Following them, she rushed down the hill. Her eyes caught the kids crying and she immediately went to them, hugging Jade tightly.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so... sorry, Jade."
"Would daddy make it?" Jace was also there and for the first time ever since he'd grown up, she was totally afraid, seeing him cry. He'd been able to hide his emotions well just like Liam, but still he was just a kid. She pulled him into a hug, her tears wetting his hair as she cried.
She held Jade's hand tightly and gave Jace a kiss on the forehead as she looked at them, "I'll be back. And I promise you, your daddy would be okay." She muttered, pulling her hands away from them as she got into the ambulance and they immediately drove off.
"Mommy!! " Jade ran blindly after the car but Cassidy took her in her hands, hugging the sweet little girl and patting her back.
"Mommy would take care of daddy, dong worry. Stop crying, sweetheart. Shhh, daddy would make it back."
Alice cried a meter away, as she was cradled in her own mother's arms and just like that, sadness filled the happy family in just a morning. Eugene and Doreen gulped, staring at each other. Danger had always lurked. They'd just been too happy to know and see it.
Alexandra's legs hit the ground impatiently as she stood up, and sat down again before standing up and pacing round the place. The coldness in the hospital gave her chills, making her rub her shoulders numerous times. She'd even lost record of time and from time to time, people stared at her cause she was looking too crazy to be the lady on socials.
When a nurse passed by, Alexa rushed to her, "Liam Jordans." She made her cause known.
The nurse shook her head, "Still in surgery." She said and quickly left making Alexa let out a cold shaky breath. Her eyes glassed as she leaned on the wall in desperation, her hands clasped tightly together in front of her. She muttered some words in a short prayer which was so desperate and then touched the diamond ring on her finger.
He wouldn't let go just like that. She knew. He wouldn't. She had to believe it, it was the only hope she had.
The police officers got into the hospital and walked towards her, "Mrs Alexandra Jordans?" They asked.
It was Chapman but she couldn't be bothered with correcting them right now. They could think whatever.
"Yes."
"We need you at the station to make a statement. We know it's a lot for you now but you know, the man deceased and you guys involved are not citizens of Hawaii. It causes a problem when we think about the dead man. So we have to settle things with statement." One of them said.
"Can you take me to and fro?" She asked immediately, willing to get over with it, so she'd just be here with him.
An hour later and the station returned Alexa back to the hospital. She rushed in, her eyes searching the surgery board for his name. It was no where to be found. Running to the desk, she met with the nurse.
"Liam Jordans." She called.
"Liam....Oh, madam. He is in the VIP ward. Please take the elevator and go to ward B." She said.
"It was successful?" She asked and the nurse smiled.
"It was. Totally successful. You should go and meet him right now." The nurse said and Alexa licked her lips as tears of joy rushed out from her eyes, her chest heaving as she exhaled hardly in relieve.
Her legs made way to the elevator and then the VIP ward. She opened the door, her eyes going quickly to the bed.
"Liam." She muttered, seeing him on an oxygen mask, different support machines connected to his body. A shiver went down her spine and her hands went to her mouth.
It was successful but what was all these?
The door opened and the doctor stepped in,
"What is going on?" Alexa asked, her lips quivering. Her ears weren't eager to hear his response but she knew she had to. She had to get herald for whatever is coming.
"Miss Alexandra." The doctor called, "You have to b-"
"I'm fine. I'm okay. I can take it. So just....please....tell me...okay?" She pleaded, a tear running from her eyes, she cleaned it instantly.
"The upper part of his spinal cord was damaged, resulting in what we call partial paralysm. You don't have to worry, however, because through medical stabilization, pain management and other processes, he should be able to heal in about 6 months time or more. Maximum of two years."
Was the doctor speaking? Yes.
Was Alexandra listening? Yes.
Was she actually hearing him? No.
Her body shook and her eyes closed as she fell to the ground, loosing all consciousness.
"Ms Chapman!"
