Chapter 89 - His Betrayal
Josie
I couldn’t have heard him right, Angela did this? I knew she was angry that they broke up and he was with me now but to actually intentionally hit us, this was something that you would see in a soap opera. I didn’t even know how to process this information, “Josie, say something please. I am sorry this happened to you, and it is killing me that Angela tried to hurt you.” I immediately took his hand in mine, “She tried to hurt both of us Joey, and I don’t blame you at all for her actions, so please don’t blame yourself.”
I didn’t want Joey to blame himself for Angela’s behavior, however I do hope that they do keep her in custody if she did this purposely. “The officer that came to talk to me said he would be back to speak to you when you woke up, I am sure he will be here in the morning. Hopefully we will have an update on what is happening with Angela at that point, I hope they have kept her in custody but who knows. Joey filled me in on everything he remembered while I was unconscious and how scared he was that he couldn’t make sure I was okay and he had to rely on updates from others.
The next day I had a short meeting with Officer Martinez and then I laid back resting. I hope the doctor will release me soon, I would rather be home. Joey had been released today, he came in with his parents to see me before he went home. He said he would clean up and then see if he could come back later today if he could get a ride. I told him not to push it and I hoped to be home soon as well. I had my eyes closed just trying to focus on trying to rest when I heard a knock on the door, I looked over to see Drew waving at me from the doorway. “Hey there Josie, I stopped by your parents house because I couldn’t get ahold of you and your parents filled me in on what happened. Do you mind if we come in?”
“We?” Drew stepped aside and a girl stepped into view. “Josie this is Izzy, she was with me when I stopped by your parents house and I hope you don’t mind if I brought her here with me too? I waved them both in, “Of course not, come in. You will help me from being bored here on my own.” Drew laughed and pulled chairs up for both of them.
“Your parents wanted me to tell you they will be back here soon, they had a few things to finish up at home.” I just nodded, “So, what did you need that you were trying to get ahold of me? I have no idea where my phone ended up, but I am assuming it is trashed and I will need to get a new one.” He looked over at Izzy, “I was hoping to line up a day for us to all get together as we talked about before but when I couldn’t reach you I decided to stop by to make sure everything was okay. I hope you don’t mind we came straight here after hearing what happened.”
“Not at all, it is nice to meet you Izzy. I am glad that it seems things are working out for you both.” She smiled at me then leaned forward, “Josie, I want to thank you for encouraging Drew to meet with me so we could talk. Most girls in your situation would have forbid Drew from meeting with me or even insist on coming with him, especially knowing that there was a chance I would be trying to get him back.” She seemed like such a genuine person and I couldn’t help but like her and feel like we all ended up the way we were supposed to.
“Izzy, honestly I am sure Drew told you we went into this with open eyes. We both knew our hearts were elsewhere and took things slowly for that reason. I am glad we did because we are now where we were meant to be this whole time. Drew and I realized that while we had a lot in common I think we were just meant to be good friends and I would like for you to be a part of that too.” Izzy stood up and pulled me into a hug which I returned and I could see Drew smiling at us from his chair. When she sat back down he took her hand in his, we spent the rest of the time they were visiting just talking and I enjoyed getting to know Izzy. She was very easy to talk to and it made the time at the hospital fly by.
My parents returned around the time Drew and Izzy had to leave but we agreed to get together again soon. My parents told me that they had checked in with the doctor and he said that if everything looked good when he checked back in with me, he would let me go home today. That cheered me up because there was nothing like sleeping in your own bed, I asked my mom to share that news with Aunt Jessie so she could tell Joey. I sat back and awaited the doctor eager for him to allow me to go home.
