Chapter 87 PARK BLISS
GODIVA POV
“In the car,” Ben replied, still fixing his gaze on Dina.
“The car?” I asked in shock, walking toward the car with my heart pounding.
“Baby!” Jerald’s voice came from behind, making me startle as he picked me up through my waist and spun me around.
“What’s the meaning of all this?” I fired at Jerald furiously. “First you called and acted coldly, then you weren’t here to escort me to the car or even compliment me, and now you’re popping out of nowhere to pick me up?” I thundered, my voice shaking.
“I’m really sorry, Zhin.” Jerald tightened his hold on my waist and faced me fully. “I just wanted to prank you a little, make you anxious. Please don’t be mad, huh?” he pleaded, pouting.
“That’s not nice,” I barked, trying to free myself from his grip.
Before I could struggle further, he began tickling me, making my laughter fill the block.
“Stop it!” I bickered, laughing helplessly as I hit his chest.
“You look really beautiful, mi lady,” Jerald bowed dramatically and opened the door to the car.
We drove for almost an hour to ‘Tender Play’, the biggest park in the city.
“Wow, it’s been a long-time dream of mine to visit this park,” I breathed in bewilderment, admiring every corner of the park as we drove in.
“Our hearts are always in sync,” Jerald teased, holding my hands.
We began our fun moments at the park by riding a carousel where Jerald and I paired on one, and so did Ben and Dina. We took crazy and beautiful selfies on the ride before moving on to the pirate ship which got us screaming. It was one of the scariest rides, a ship moving at speed back and forth. Dina and I almost puked the second we got out of it.
We were still feeling the dizzy effects even ten minutes after the ride, so Ben suggested we took a dessert break. Jerald and I got berries gelato while Ben and Dina took mint ice-cream.
After minutes of catching our breath, we decided to take the scariest ride ever, the roller coaster.
I attempted running away from the roller coaster when Jerald forcefully held me back.
Before the ride started, Jerald turned to me, making sure my seat belt was properly fixed. Taking my hand, he kissed it gently.
“Feel free to hold on to this hand through the ride,” he whispered, rubbing his thumb over my knuckles.
I looked at him, already blushing.
“Cause you’ll need to hold on to it in even tougher times,” he finished with a grin.
The roller coaster started nicely before it turned scary. I held so tight to Jerald’s hand to the point of almost giving him a scar. I screamed, got tired of screaming, and began crying.
Dina and I hugged each other tightly, crying after the ride.
“I’m never doing this again,” I cried in between sobs.
“Never!” Dina echoed, also sobbing into my shoulder.
“You girls know you’re dramatic, yes?” Ben chuckled, staring at Dina and me still engrossed in the hug.
“Come on girl, this hug is supposed to be channeled here,” Jerald muttered, dragging me off Dina and into his arms.
We sat at a table in a mobile restaurant trying to catch our breath when Jerald suggested a photo booth session.
“Wait, that thing actually exists here?” Dina gasped excitedly, her eyes widening in disbelief.
We walked through the large crowd to the arcade center where we were supposed to take our photos.
“I’ve really wanted trying that,” I squealed in excitement, pointing at the claw catcher machine at the corner of the arcade.
“No, that’s definitely not happening,” Ben protested, already walking away.
“Please baby,” Dina pestered, holding on to him, while Jerald stood still laughing hysterically.
“What’s so funny?” Dina glared at Jerald.
“Your man is running away from being embarrassed,” Jerald laughed harder. “He isn’t good at using the machine,” he mocked, trying hard to stop himself.
“That’s not true,” Ben retorted in defense, squaring his shoulders.
“Then let’s give it a try,” Jerald challenged confidently, walking away to the claw catcher.
Jerald got a cute rabbit on his first try and a Winnie the Pooh doll on his second try, meanwhile Ben kept trying without giving up for over ten minutes before he luckily got a fluffy doll Dina chose to call ‘Lucky’.
We walked to the photo booth excited, teasing Jerald and chattering before Dina stopped abruptly to buy headbands from a spot in the arcade. She got Ben and me matching bear headbands while she got herself and Jerald matching frog headbands.
“Must we put this on to snap?” Jerald groaned, looking at the headband in irritation.
“Yes we must, something fun for the go,” Dina declared and stepped into the photo booth.
“So, how do we take the photos?” Ben asked as we stepped into the booth.
“I guess we take one together and each couple takes a single photo of themselves,” I suggested.
“That’s great,” Dina chirped, dragging all of us into position.
Pictures that were supposed to be only three ended up over twelve.
The pictures we took together were all crazy.
Ben pecked Dina on her cheek, wrapping his arms around her waist as they snapped, meanwhile Jerald picked me up in his arms for our picture together.
We all had a pair of the picture set as we sat in an Italian restaurant not far from the bouquet.
“What would you like to order?” the waiter asked, handing us the menu.
“How about we all go with pizza?” Ben suggested, glancing at the menu.
“That’s great,” I nodded. “I’ve actually heard Italian pizza is nice.”
“Then I’d take orange juice with the pizza,” Dina added, scanning the menu.
Ben decided to go with strawberry smoothie while Jerald and I stuck to ice-cream again.
While we were eating, we asked the waiter to take a photo of us which she did. I smiled, going through the photos, when I noticed Jerald’s eyes fixed on me in all the pictures.
After eating, it was past six. We knew we were running late, so we began rushing out when Jerald suddenly suggested we got something for the mothers.
“So, what do we get them?” Ben asked curiously.
“Maybe another box of pizza and wine from the winery at the other side of the park,” Ben suggested, holding Dina’s hand as we forged ahead.
But Something kept ringing in my head. This date was going to perfect and I knew something was wrong. I feared an incident might just spoil this perfect date.
