Chapter 131 SHATTERED PIECES

Chapter 131 SHATTERED PIECES
Godiva POV

I looked at Jerald, puzzled for a while before finally speaking up.

“What do you mean before we visit them tomorrow?” I demanded furiously. “What is visiting them even going to help us with?” I added, feeling even more devastated.

“I know you do not really trust me, but at least, just trust me on this. No one is telling him you're his daughter, alright?” Jerald assured gently in a way that broke my heart.

“Who says I don’t trust you?” I muttered, looking away.

“So, you trust me?” Jerald pressed, his face lighting up with a smile.

“Oh my! Things I love to see,” Dina squealed, blushing.

“Shut up, you didn’t hear anything,” I grumbled, feeling embarrassed as I hurried back to the skatepark where the others were, with Jerald and Dina running after me.

We enjoyed the rest of the skate competition, shouting and cheering for different players we were supporting. Before the competition ended, I was already locking arms with Jerald since we were both supporting the same skater.

Unfortunately, the skater we were supporting lost, and the skater Alex was supporting won the competition.

The competition ended with loud drumming and cheerleaders dancing around the skatepark in revealing outfits.

“Close your eyes. What are you looking at?” I scolded, covering Jerald’s eyes with my palms after catching him staring at the cheerleaders.

I didn’t know my drama had been noticed by a few people until they burst out laughing.

We all strolled back home, interacting and having fun as Alex kept bombarding Jerald with questions about us. I did my best to stop him, but I couldn't. I felt even more embarrassed when Jerald narrated the story of how I was dumped by Leo, which was when he first confirmed his feelings for me.

Tyler, Alex, Dina, and Trevor kept teasing me until we got to the pathway that separated our street from the twins' street, which was also the same road leading to my crochet school, where we finally said our goodbyes.

We were almost home when I stopped abruptly and turned to Jerald.

“Haven’t we gotten to your stop yet?” I asked curiously.

“Why do you ask?” Jerald smirked.

“Just because... because I wanted to know where your house is,” I stammered.

“I guess you'll get to know my house some other time then,” Jerald teased with a smile as he turned to leave.

“Wait up, how do you mean?” I pressed, causing him to stop.

“That’s because my way is the same as the twins' way,” he revealed, laughing aloud.

“What!” Dina, Alex, and I exclaimed in surprise.

“Yeah, my house is directly opposite Hakeem’s house,” Jerald revealed, laughing hysterically.

“And why did you follow us all the way here?” Dina questioned suspiciously.

“I feel like the answer is kind of obvious,” Jerald replied, smiling at me.

“So, what if that Vinny guy from the party lays an ambush?” Alex asked.

“Don’t worry, he won’t do anything,” Jerald assured, walking toward me.

“Goodnight, Zhin,” he whispered, gently pressing his lips against mine while holding my waist firmly.

I stood agape, still trying to find words as Dina and Alex blushed beside me.

“Wow, how I’ve missed this,” Jerald murmured loudly as he walked away.

It was only after he left that my face gradually lit up with a smile and then a blush. It felt surreal that Jerald had kissed me again in his usual gentle way after such a long while.

Dina and Alex didn’t stop taunting me about the sweet way Jerald kissed me until I eventually fell asleep.

As early as 6:00 a.m. the next morning, godmother forced us up to visit a public sauna and spa not far from the local church. We all protested against it, but godmother always had her way.

We arrived at the sauna looking exhausted, but before thirty minutes passed, everyone was sweaty and alive. After we were done, we headed to the spa for a massage session as well as manicure and pedicure treatments.

“Thanks, godmother, I really needed this,” I admitted with a smile as we got our pedicures done.

“I really needed this too. Thank you, godmother,” Dina chimed in her usual dramatic manner.

We left the spa a few minutes past nine when godmother suggested getting French toast, shepherd’s pie, and coffee from a bakery not far from the spa for breakfast.

After getting them, we headed straight home, strolling and sharing stories about our different school experiences.

“Who is that peeking into the compound like a thief?” godmother asked, pointing toward the gate.

“Woohoo! I guess Prince Charming couldn’t wait to see Cinderella!” Dina teased, nudging me with her shoulder.

“Then I guess that's Jerald,” godmother remarked with a smile as we walked up behind him.

“Jeez!” Jerald yelped, startled.

“How did godmother know about Jerald?” I whispered to Dina, who completely ignored me.

“Why are you so jumpy, as if you were caught breaking in?” godmother teased, patting Jerald on the back.

“Sorry about that. I was contemplating whether to come in or just go back,” Jerald admitted with an awkward smile.

“Why would you be contemplating your decision? You’re always welcome here,” godmother assured, ushering him into the house.

“I felt it was too early to visit,” Jerald confessed shyly as we walked into the living room.

“Did you miss her that badly that you had to come see her this early?” Dina mocked.

“Of course I missed her,” Jerald replied brazenly.

“Well, lucky for you, we’ve got breakfast ready,” godmother announced, ushering him toward the dining table.

“I have to decline. I just had breakfast before leaving,” Jerald explained, shaking his head.

“Thank goodness it wasn’t shepherd’s pie you had for breakfast,” I teased, pulling him up and dragging him toward the table with our arms locked.

We chatted and laughed over breakfast. Godmother eventually left us when Alex began telling us his first heartbreak story from fifth grade. According to godmother, she had heard the story a hundred times already.

“You all were already dating in fifth grade when I was only focused on school and playing with Hakeem?” Jerald laughed hysterically.

“You were friends with Hakeem since childhood?” Dina asked, looking surprised.

“Yes, I was, and I believe I’ve told you before,” Jerald replied nonchalantly.

“Well, the information didn’t matter to me then, I guess,” Dina laughed. “But now it does.”

“So, what do we need to know before going over to their place today?” I asked seriously.

“Well, they were all living in City before their parents divorced when Hilda was four,” Jerald revealed.

“They’re divorced!?” we chorused in disbelief.
