Chapter 125
Chapter 125
Serena's POV
When I slowly regained my consciousness, the first thing I felt was cold. It wasn’t sharp, but chilly enough to make me shiver.
The warmth of my room was completely missing.
Slowly, everything replayed in my head from discovering Kayden’s truth to him kidnapping me. I tried to move my body, but it felt very heavy, as if someone had tied me down to the bed.
Slowly, I tried to open my eyes. My head was throbbing in pain, my throat was dry, and my eyelashes felt too heavy to even move.
When I tried to breathe, the air felt heavy.
I had to blink multiple times to finally open my eyes. The room was dark. The moonlight penetrating through the window told me it was already nighttime.
I was out for hours.
Slowly, I tried to move my body. It wasn’t completely immobile. I wasn’t tied to the bed as I had thought. My wrists were free.
The fight and the panic before I was forced into unconsciousness had drained all the energy from my body.
When I was able to move my hands, the first thing I checked was my clothes and my baby.
I let out a deep sigh when I felt both.
I looked around and realized Kayden had brought me to a very old house. It was made of wood and looked ancient. It barely had any furniture. He had laid me on a single bed in the middle of the room.
My head shook.
I had no idea what he was planning to do with me. His intentions seemed evil. I needed to leave this place as soon as possible.
I swung my legs off the bed and stood up. A shiver ran down my spine when the cold floor came in contact with my bare feet.
I had to swallow again and again as my throat turned as dry as a desert. My hand instinctively went to my stomach.
Small tears appeared in my eyes. Why did my baby have to suffer through all this?
I sniffed and wiped the tears with my knuckles.
I will fight for you.
But right now, I badly need hydration. I found a small bathroom attached to the room. I went inside, turned on the tap, washed my hands, and took a few sips just to survive. The cold water helped with the dizziness as well.
I stood there for a few seconds after drinking the water, trying to calm my racing heart, telling myself that I wasn’t weak. I could do this. I would have to fight the demon for my baby.
I turned around and slowly pushed the bathroom door open, stepping back into the room where I was kept.
I moved quietly, taking each step very carefully. Wherever Kayden was, I didn’t want to alert him. I wrapped my fingers around the knob and pulled the door open.
Silence.
It gave me hope. Maybe Kayden had gone somewhere. Maybe I could escape this place now.
I looked around once more, just to be safe, and immediately stepped forward. My eyes scanned the surroundings, and a wave of happiness flushed through my heart when I saw the main door.
My fingers trembled as I wrapped them around the knob. I prayed it was unlocked.
I let out the breath I was holding when the door opened without any resistance.
Quickly, I pulled the door wide open with the intention of running out, but all my plans came to an end when I saw Kayden standing right in front of me.
He was holding a broom and a dustpan, most probably cleaning the place. He was about to open the door at the same time.
Fuck.
He looked down at me, his eyes widening in surprise. But he masked it quickly and smiled casually.
“So, you’re awake. Huh?” he asked.
I didn’t reply.
"Oh!" He looked down at himself and chuckled "I know I am not in my best attire, but I was just cleaning the house. It was very dirty, you know"
He casually placed the broom and dustpan outside before stepping inside the room as if it was the most casual thing.
“Were you going somewhere?” he asked, tilting his head slightly, his tone almost amused.
My palms curled to my sides so harshly that my nails dug into my skin. He is acting as if everything is just normal. As if he hadn't kidnapped me.
He quickly kicked the door closed the door and before I know he locked it, and shoved the key into his pocket.
"Kayden, just let me go" I said firmly but calmly, folding my arms to my chest.
"Now, I didn't took the risk of my life, just to let you go. Did I?" He raised one of his eyebrows.
"Kayden, you will not get anything out of it. Just let me go before things done really bad for you"
He chuckled throwing his head back.
"I am ready to face everything if you are with me" he tried to reach out for my shoulder but I immediately took a step back.
"I can never be with you" I told him clearly.
His jaw tightened slightly and a flicked of irritation passed through his face. Closing his eyes, he inhaled sharply, trying to calm down his anger.
Taking the advantage, I lunged at him and tried to pull out the keys from his pocket. His eyes shot open. My fingers could barely touch the key before his hand shot out and grabbed my wrist tightly.
“Enough!” he snapped. "Don't make things difficult for yourself.
I struggled in his hold, trying to pull back my hand and get to the key anyhow.
"Stop!" He said
But I didn't.
“I said stop!”
He shoved me backward.
It was so hard that I stumbled and almost lost my balance. Before I could fall on the floor, he lifted me off the floor like I weighed nothing.
“Put me down!” I screamed, hitting his chest with my fists. “Let me go!”
He threw me on the couch. The air knocked out of my lungs. Pain shot through my back as I bounced against the cushions. Dust from Kayden's clothes exploded around me, filling my nose, mouth and throat.
I coughed out loudly as my chest burnt to struggle to breathe.
"Fuck" he pulled his hair and rushed to the kitchen.
He came back with a glass of water.
"Here take it!"
My coughs died down a bit. My gaze flicked between the glass and his face.
I felt pure rage running through my veins. What am I? His toy? My jaw clenched and nose flared.
He shifted the glass make towards me but in the fit of rage, I slapped it away. The glass went flying in the air and shattered on the floor. I heard a loud gasp from him. The man who never did anything, just cleaned the floor and I ruined it. But I didn't feel bad.
His head snapped to my and expressions hardened. His eyes turned dark, his jaw tightened and his nose flared in pure anger.
He loomed over me like a beast and in a fit of rage he raised his hand on me...
