Chapter 52 Slapped Windy
Olivia's eyes carried a weariness that made Luca's heart skip a beat.
The people around them cast pitying looks. They could all tell that Luca cared a lot about Windy. Maybe Olivia and Luca's marriage wasn't as loving as it seemed on the surface.
The atmosphere at the party was awkward.
Olivia held onto her last shred of dignity, clenching her fists tightly. "I'm going to the restroom."
Leaning against the cold sink, she let out a long breath. The feelings of humiliation and disappointment in her heart almost consumed her.
Olivia didn't want to stay in this place for another minute and decided to leave.
But as soon as she stepped out of the restroom, she saw someone standing in the hallway.
It was Windy.
She had changed into a black dress. When she saw Olivia, Windy immediately put on an innocent expression, her voice soft and gentle. "Olivia, are you okay? You look so pale. Are you upset?" She sighed, "Don't take it to heart. I'm just Luca's secretary. It's normal for him to come to my hotel."
Windy was waiting for Olivia to lose her temper.
Olivia let out a cold laugh. Before Windy could even react, she slapped her hard across the face!
The slap was swift and forceful, the sound ringing out in the hallway.
"Ah!!!" Windy was completely stunned. She held her face, eyes wide, staring at Olivia in disbelief. "You... you actually hit me!"
Olivia raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you just asking for it by being so shameless?"
"You—" Windy raised her hand, ready to hit back.
Just then, Luca's tall figure appeared at the end of the hallway.
Windy instantly pulled her hand back, her expression turning pitiful as tears streamed down her face.
She covered her face, her voice trembling. "Luca, you're finally here! I just wanted to talk to Olivia and clear things up because I was worried she might get the wrong idea. But out of nowhere, she slapped me. My face really hurts..."
Windy sobbed, hoping Luca would scold Olivia as he had in the past.
But Luca didn't do that.
His first concern was Olivia's condition.
She stood there quietly, her eyes full of coldness and anger.
Luca felt an inexplicable pang in his heart. He directly ordered, "Windy, leave right now. And don't show up at events like this again without my permission!"
Windy stopped crying, shocked and humiliated.
"What?!" Luca was actually protecting Olivia! How could this be? She was the one who got hit, and Olivia was clearly in the wrong!
"Luca, I..."
"Leave. Now!" Luca's tone grew even colder.
Tears fell from Windy's eyes as she couldn't say a word. She glared at Olivia, covered her face, and ran down the stairs.
In the hallway, only Luca and Olivia remained.
Olivia turned her head, not wanting to look at Luca.
She slapped Windy because she couldn't stand her disgusting behavior. But she also knew this would probably make Luca angry.
She expected Luca to confront her or take Windy's side. Instead, Luca stayed calm and told Windy to leave.
Olivia didn't feel any better—just exhausted. She walked past Luca, ready to go. "I'm leaving."
"Don't." Luca reached out to stop her, his voice softer than before. He explained, "It was my assistant who called my work phone. Windy only found out I was at the party after the call. I didn't expect her to bring the phone over herself..."
"You don't need to explain to me," Olivia cut him off. "You're protecting me because this is a public place, and I'm your wife. You're just trying to save face for your family's reputation."
Luca frowned, feeling an indescribable frustration. Yes, he had to protect the family's reputation, but he also genuinely wanted to protect Olivia.
"That's not true!" Luca immediately countered. "I already explained to them that Windy is just my secretary. The phone was accidentally left behind. There's nothing else between us."
Olivia was a bit surprised.
Luca actually took the initiative to explain to those people? That wasn't like him. He usually hated explaining personal matters to others.
Luca took her hand, asking in a low voice, "Why is your hand so cold? It's chilly here. Let's go somewhere warmer."
His warm palm enveloped her cold fingers.
Olivia felt a stir in her heart. There was a hint of pleading and unease in Luca's eyes, as if he was truly afraid she'd leave right away.
But if she really left like this, it would make things worse and be hard to explain to her grandfather.
Olivia stayed silent and let Luca lead her back.
When they reappeared, everyone smiled and chatted with them as if Windy hadn't shown up at all.
The atmosphere became lively again.
Olivia rested her hand on her stomach, sitting on the edge of a sofa, eating dessert and listening to the gossip being shared nearby.
Suddenly, a woman leaned closer to her. She took Olivia's hand and asked curiously, "Olivia, are you pregnant?"
The room instantly fell silent, all attention on Olivia.
Luca's interest was also piqued by the woman's words.
Olivia froze, nervously swallowing. The question was so sudden that she wasn't prepared at all. Her mind went blank.
Luca grabbed her wrist, looking puzzled. "Olivia, is what she said true? Are you pregnant?"
Meeting his shocked and searching gaze, Olivia felt even more scared.
In that moment, countless thoughts raced through her mind, but she could only deny it. "No, of course not. How could I be pregnant? Luca, think about it. We haven't even... recently..."
Luca was reminded and felt like he might be overthinking.
They had only been intimate once.
It wouldn't be possible to get pregnant from just one time, right?
Olivia turned to the woman. "Madam, I'm definitely not pregnant. Why would you say that?"
The woman smiled and shrugged. "Sorry, I misunderstood. I saw you holding your stomach and refusing to drink, so I thought you might be pregnant. I've had two kids myself, and I did the same things when I was expecting."
Olivia pretended to stay calm. "Oh, I see. I'd love to have a child soon, but it just hasn't happened yet. I'm just not drinking tonight because my stomach's a little upset."
"I see." The woman looked a bit embarrassed. "My apologies."
Luca didn't say anything, but there was still doubt and curiosity in his eyes.
Even though it was just once, he hadn't used protection that time.
What if she really was pregnant?
Olivia's heart was pounding. She couldn't sit still any longer and stood up. "Luca, I'm a bit tired. Let's go home."
The party was almost over anyway, and Luca, knowing she wasn't feeling well, agreed considerately. "Alright, I'll take you home."
He also had a lot to ask her.
