Chapter 51 Luca Softens Towards Windy
Olivia was startled by Luca's sudden braking. She pressed herself against the car window, gripping the seatbelt tightly.
Luca felt a wave of irritation, like something was pressing on his chest, making it hard to breathe.
He reached out, turned Olivia's face toward him, and forced her to look at him.
Olivia's eyes held a hint of mockery. "What else do you want?"
Luca didn't know what he wanted.
All he knew was that he couldn't stand seeing Olivia so cold and detached. He didn't want to see her speaking up for another man, standing against him!
He just couldn't take it!
Unable to hold back, Luca leaned down and kissed Olivia.
He kissed her hard, desperately trying to confirm through this kiss that Olivia still belonged to him.
"Don't talk about divorce again. Don't say things I don't want to hear..." Luca kissed her, his breath unsteady as he commanded.
Olivia didn't respond or resist. She let Luca take what he wanted, and when the long kiss finally ended, she lifted her hand to wipe her lips.
Luca felt even more panicked.
He had no idea what to do. If he kept being so forceful, it seemed like he'd only push Olivia further away.
After a long, tense pause, Luca swallowed hard before finally speaking, his voice low and a little uneasy. "Olivia, I... I'll set up a dinner with Melo and apologize properly. But from now on, I don't want anyone else putting their hands on you. No hugs, no nothing. You hear me?"
Olivia was a bit surprised.
Luca, apologizing to her? That didn't seem like something he'd do.
Seeing Olivia's expression finally shift, the frustration in Luca's heart eased a little.
Just as he was about to say more, his phone suddenly rang.
Luca answered immediately. "Grandpa."
On the other end, Linus asked, "Luca, are you with Olivia?"
"Yes, what's up?" Luca glanced at Olivia and put the call on speaker.
Linus explained, "Here's the thing. Tonight, your uncle Frank is hosting a private gathering. I want you to represent our family and bring Olivia along."
Luca and Olivia exchanged a look.
Olivia felt a bit tired, but she nodded anyway. Since Linus had personally arranged it, she couldn't refuse.
"Got it, Grandpa. We're on our way," Luca replied before hanging up.
He didn't start the car right away. Instead, he returned to the topic that had been interrupted. "Do you agree to what I just asked?"
Olivia's eyes flickered.
This time, Luca had actually hit Melo—and knowing how Melo was, he wasn't the type to just let things slide. Luca almost never swallowed his pride and apologized, so she figured there was no point in arguing anymore. Besides, whether she agreed or not, the divorce was happening either way.
"Fine, I agree," she nodded.
Luca's lips curved slightly, and the irritation from earlier finally faded.
Neither of them brought up the earlier tension. Luca turned the car around and headed to the private club for the gathering.
Inside, the place was packed with influential people—family representatives and local big shots.
As soon as Luca and Olivia arrived, they became the center of attention. Many people, eager to curry favor with the Vettels, came over to offer drinks.
Someone who knew Olivia fairly well approached and handed her a glass of strawberry fruit wine. "Olivia, I remember you like this. Try some!"
She kept a polite smile and declined, "Thanks, but I'm not feeling well lately. The doctor said I can't drink."
Luca, who had been keeping an eye on her, frowned when he heard this.
Not feeling well?
She wouldn't even touch her favorite strawberry fruit wine. That was odd.
Once the person left, Luca pulled Olivia aside. "Did you get a checkup? What exactly did the doctor say? You can't even have a little to drink?"
Olivia froze, meeting his suspicious gaze and feeling a bit nervous. Just as she struggled to find an answer, a commotion came from the entrance.
It was Windy.
She was dressed in a red gown, her makeup flawless, walking straight toward Luca and Olivia.
Everyone was stunned by her arrival.
"Who's that?"
"No idea, never seen her before."
"Looks like she knows Luca."
Olivia's fingers turned ice-cold in an instant. She looked at Luca and sneered, "You're in such a hurry to show her off to everyone? Then why didn't you just bring her here instead of dragging me along?"
"What are you talking about? I didn't ask her to come!" Luca frowned, just as confused.
Olivia found it laughable. "This is your private schedule—if you didn't tell Windy, there's no way she'd know. Think before you lie, or you'll get caught!"
Right after she spoke, Windy reached them. She pulled out a black phone from her handbag and handed it to Luca. "Luca, I'm so sorry to interrupt. I was cleaning up the hotel room and found your work phone there. I was worried you might need it for something important, so I hurried over to bring it to you."
In an instant, all eyes were on the three of them.
Luca's phone, left in another woman's hotel room.
That clearly suggested something fishy.
Everyone's gazes were filled with curiosity and gossip.
Windy's expression was innocent, but a flicker of smugness flashed in her eyes. She wanted to humiliate Olivia in front of everyone.
Luca's face darkened, his gaze icy. "You could've called me instead of showing up here." He took the phone from her.
Windy quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, it's my fault. Luca, don't be mad. I'll leave right now!"
As she turned to go, she stumbled and fell to the ground. She hit the edge of a table, causing a glass to tip over. The wine spilled, soaking her clothes instantly.
"Ah! It's freezing!" Windy hugged herself helplessly, covering her drenched chest, her eyes quickly turning red.
Olivia suddenly felt like laughing.
She knew Windy's tricks all too well. No one just falls on a smooth floor like that.
But Luca didn't see it.
Though he was annoyed that Windy showed up without warning at such an event, seeing her fall reminded him of how she had saved him in the past. His heart softened.
He took off his jacket, ignoring the onlookers, and draped it over Windy. Helping her up, he asked, "Can you walk? Are you hurt anywhere?"
Windy, tears streaming down her face, shook her head and choked out, "I'm sorry, it's my fault for embarrassing myself here."
"It's fine," Luca comforted her gently, then called over two staff members at the door. "Take her to change clothes."
"Understood," the staff said, helping Windy away.
Olivia stood there, her expression cold.
