Chapter 39 Sugar-Coated Kiss
"Ahem, let's wait until after the family gathering," Luca broke the silence, his tone a bit unnatural. "Getting divorced now will only cause trouble."
Olivia also felt their decision was too impulsive. She hid her emotions and said lightly, "Okay."
"Let's go. Get in the car, I'll drive you back," Luca said as he stepped down the stairs.
Olivia trailed after him. Suddenly, everything went black for a moment—her heart pounding out of rhythm, cold sweat breaking out across her back.
Damn it! She bit her lip. She had eaten breakfast, so why was her low blood sugar acting up again?!
She could only pinch her palm and slowly squat down.
"Olivia?" Luca noticed something was wrong. "What's wrong?"
"I'm fine..." Olivia wanted to shake her head, but she realized she couldn't even manage that simple movement. Soon after, her consciousness started to blur.
Luca quickly helped Olivia into the car. Her eyes were tightly shut, and her lips had lost all color.
"Olivia!" Luca called her name several times, but she didn't respond. His heart raced with anxiety.
"Olivia, wait in the car. I'll be right back." He jumped out and hurried to a nearby shop. "Hi, can I get some candy or chocolate? My wife has low blood sugar," he said urgently.
The cashier quickly grabbed a pack of fruit hard candies from the display.
Luca ran back to the car and brought the candy to Olivia's mouth. "Come on, you'll feel much better after eating this!"
But Olivia didn't react. It seemed like she had completely passed out.
Damn it! He was so anxious he felt hot all over.
There was only one way now.
He quickly unwrapped the candy, put it in his own mouth, then gently opened Olivia's jaw. He kissed her cold lips, using his tongue to push the candy into her mouth.
A faint sweetness melted between their lips.
Olivia instinctively sucked on it, pressing closer to Luca's lips.
Luca froze, his Adam's apple bobbing as he couldn't help but kiss her back.
"Mm..." Olivia wrapped her arms around Luca's neck, unconsciously responding to him.
Luca didn't push her away either.
The two of them kissed passionately in the car, the sweet candy melting between their lips.
Two minutes later, Olivia's rapid breathing gradually calmed down, and she opened her eyes. She blinked in confusion, realizing Luca was holding her with a worried look on his face.
His voice was full of concern. "How do you feel?"
Olivia nodded awkwardly, unable to resist glancing at Luca's lips. They were redder than usual.
Her breath hitched, and she quickly looked away. "Thanks."
"How did your low blood sugar get this bad? You never had this problem before," Luca said, his brow furrowing with concern.
Olivia's gaze shifted as she pressed a hand to her stomach. She was pregnant—of course her body was reacting differently now.
"I don't know. Maybe I've been too tired lately," she lied casually.
Luca wasn't reassured and drove straight home. "Stay at home and rest. I'll call the maid to come back and make you some nutritious food."
Olivia was slightly stunned, a bit surprised. She blurted out, "You don't have to do this for me."
Luca frowned, gripping the steering wheel tightly. "You're still my wife! Your safety and health are my responsibility!"
Olivia lowered her eyes and stayed quiet, her heart uncontrollably beating faster.
Damn it, she was actually feeling touched!
Exhaustion hit her, and sitting in the passenger seat, Olivia soon fell into a deep sleep.
When they arrived at the villa, Luca carried Olivia to the living room sofa, covered her with a blanket, and placed a glass of warm water on the table. Only after seeing some color return to her face did Luca finally relax.
There were urgent matters at the company that needed his attention, but he didn't want to leave Olivia alone.
The image of her nearly fainting earlier was still fresh in his mind. If something happened to her again while he wasn't around, it would be bad.
So, he went to the nearby study, planning to work online on his computer.
Olivia lay on the sofa, her head feeling heavy and dizzy, unable to sleep soundly. After some time, the doorbell rang, followed by voices.
Olivia frowned and opened her eyes.
Who would come to the villa at this time?
Before she could get up to answer the door, it was opened from the outside.
Two people walked in. The one in front was Windy.
As soon as Windy entered, she gave Olivia an apologetic smile. "Olivia, I came over to sincerely apologize in person for taking your clothes yesterday."
Standing beside Windy was a young woman. Olivia recognized her as Luca's cousin, Linda.
Linda also worked at Luca's company, handling overseas business in the sales department. They didn't interact much at work or in their personal lives.
More importantly, Linda was Windy's college classmate, and both naturally harbored hostility toward Olivia.
At this moment, Linda looked Olivia up and down without holding back, her eyes full of disdain and disgust.
Olivia leaned on the sofa, her voice weak but firm. "Those clothes—Luca already paid for them. They're yours now, so you don't need to apologize. If there's nothing else, please leave."
"Leave?" Linda sneered, stepping in front of Windy as if she were the owner of the house. "Olivia, do you really think you're the lady of the house? Windy already told me you and Luca are about to get divorced! Someone who's about to be out the door doesn't get to tell us what to do! Besides, Luca said just yesterday that Windy can come over whenever she wants. Who do you think you are? Mind your own business!" Her voice dripped with contempt and challenge.
Windy tugged at Linda's sleeve and whispered, "Linda, don't say that. Olivia might be in a bad mood."
Linda crossed her arms, smirking arrogantly. "Being in a bad mood doesn't mean she can just kick you out! If Luca were here, he'd say even harsher things than me!"
"Are you done?" Olivia's gaze was calm, not taking the two of them seriously. "Luca and I are still married. We're not divorced, so this house is still under my say. I'm telling you to leave, so leave. Stop wasting my time with nonsense!"
"You..." Linda's face changed with anger.
At that moment, the study door opened, and Luca walked out with a dark expression.
Windy and Linda both froze, not expecting Luca to be home.
Had Luca heard all the rude things they just said?
A flash of panic crossed Windy's face, but she quickly put on a more pitiful expression. "Luca, you're home. I came to apologize."
Linda immediately plastered on a sweet, fake smile. "Luca, did you see that? We came here just to apologize, but Olivia tried to throw us out and acted like a total brat. She has no manners at all! You're about to get divorced, and she's still trying to control everything!"
"Who are you saying has no manners? Say it again!" Olivia's face was cold. Though she was physically weak, her presence wasn't.
Suddenly, an arm blocked her path. Olivia looked at Luca in shock. "What are you doing?"
Was Luca siding with Linda against her?
Luca didn't answer her. Instead, he turned to Linda and snapped, "Who told you I'm about to divorce Olivia?!"
Windy's face paled, a hint of guilt showing.
Linda was stunned, too. What was wrong with Luca? Wasn't he supposed to like Windy the most? Why was he defending Olivia?
