Chapter 38 Divorce Tomorrow!

Chapter 38 Divorce Tomorrow!

Olivia wasn't asleep. She heard Luca push the door open and held her breath, pretending to sleep. Soon, it got darker in front of her, as if a shadow had fallen over her.

"Don't pretend. I know you're awake."

Olivia's body stiffened. She had no choice but to ask in the dark, "What do you want with me?"

Suddenly, Luca leaned down, hovering over her.

Olivia's eyes widened in shock. She couldn't see Luca's face clearly, but she felt an intense, aggressive vibe coming from him. "Luca, what are you doing?"

"You told Grandpa I don't want to get ready for a baby, that I don't want kids, and you got me chewed out by him." His eyes dropped, lingering on Olivia's chest as she breathed heavily. Luca's breath was warm against her skin. "So, I'll show Grandpa exactly how much I want a child."

He grabbed Olivia's chin and kissed her soft, red lips.

"Mmph..." Olivia quickly turned her head to dodge, but Luca held her jaw, not letting her move.

She was shocked and scared, her mind racing with thoughts of the baby in her belly.

In the chaos, Luca pinned her arms down.

All she could do was bend her knee and, through the blanket, slam it hard into Luca's crotch.

"Ah..." Luca groaned in pain, quickly letting go of Olivia. The agony was so intense that veins popped out on his forehead.

Seizing the chance, Olivia rolled over and turned on the light.

Luca was already half-kneeling on the floor, cold sweat covering his forehead. His body trembled as he clutched himself, unable to say a word.

Olivia panicked. She had just hit Luca in his most vulnerable spot!

It didn't take much to guess how unbearable the pain must be.

She scrambled off the bed and crouched beside him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to! I'll call a doctor!"

"No!" Luca grabbed her hand. If word got out, he'd be a laughingstock!

"But..." Olivia was at a loss when a servant, hearing the commotion, hurried over. She stopped at the door and cautiously asked, "Sir, Madam, are you okay? Do you need help?"

"I'm fine. No one comes in!" Luca barked through the pain.

The outside went silent instantly.

Luca's breathing was heavy. He let go of Olivia's hand and sat on the floor for a long time, sweat dripping down his throat and neck.

Olivia felt a wave of guilt. She quietly got up, grabbed a robe, and gently draped it over Luca's shoulders.

Luca slowly looked up. "Olivia, are you that scared of me touching you? Are you that desperate to leave me?"

Olivia's heart tightened. Her hand instinctively moved to protect her belly, but stopped midway. She lowered her eyes, avoiding Luca's gaze. "We're almost divorced. It's not right to be close anymore. Grandpa kept pressuring me about having a baby, and all I could say was that you're always busy with work. This isn't on me!"

Luca got even angrier. He propped himself up on the bed, still in pain down there. "Fine, Olivia, you're really heartless." Turning his back to her, he said in frustration, "If you're so eager to divorce, we don't need to wait until next month!" Ignoring the discomfort, he threw out harsh words. "We'll handle the divorce papers tomorrow. I won't waste another day on you!"

Luca stormed out, slamming the door with a loud bang.

Olivia flinched, her body trembling. She stood there, feeling frustrated and upset.

But after calming down, she thought maybe getting divorced sooner was better!

If Luca wasn't afraid of messing up the family gathering, what did she have to worry about?

Divorce it is! This way, she could be free sooner.

Luca probably couldn't wait to divorce her and be with Windy anyway.

Olivia took a deep breath and lay back down on the bed.

The next morning, the villa was quiet.

Olivia woke up and went downstairs, only to find the servant wasn't there. A note was left on the table: [Ma'am, Sir, I had an urgent family emergency and had to leave. I'm sorry I couldn't make breakfast.]

Olivia didn't think much of it. She tossed the note in the trash and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

She wasn't hungry, so she just heated a glass of milk and made a sandwich. Thinking of Luca's injury from last night and feeling guilty, she made one for him too.

Ten minutes later, Luca came downstairs.

Olivia was eating breakfast at the table. He didn't say a word to her and sat across from her. He took a bite of the sandwich. The taste instantly filled his mouth, bringing a familiar feeling. It was exactly like the sandwich Windy used to make for him.

Luca's brow furrowed. Last time, Olivia claimed she didn't follow any recipe and just threw things together, but this tasted exactly the same as before. She had to be using the same recipe. There was no way this was just a coincidence.

Luca was about to ask, but Olivia finished her sandwich and pulled out some documents from her bag. "Hurry up and eat. Once you're done, we'll go handle the paperwork. Remember to bring your ID."

Luca swallowed all his words, feeling instantly annoyed. Just like he thought—she couldn't wait to be done with him.

But after a night's sleep, his anger had faded. At this moment, he didn't want to divorce her at all.

Yesterday, Linus had told him to get along with Olivia, and he'd agreed nicely. Yet that same night, he'd lost his temper and demanded a divorce. If Linus found out, he'd be furious.

Luca didn't know how to back out. He just kept a cold face, finished the sandwich, and grabbed his coat. "Let's go."

He drove Olivia to the courthouse. When the car stopped at the entrance, Luca swallowed hard, not planning to get out. In a stiff tone, he said, "I just got word there's something urgent at work that needs my signature. I need to head back to the office first."

A flicker of doubt crossed Olivia's eyes. "Luca, the divorce paperwork is fast. It won't take much time."

Luca's face was stern. He knew his excuse wasn't great. He should've come up with something unavoidable and told Olivia to go home first.

Olivia pushed the car door open and got out. "Come on."

Luca clenched his teeth, frustration slipping into his voice. "What's the rush? It's not like waiting a little will change anything!"

"I just like to get things done," Olivia replied, crossing her arms. "Unless there's something you're not telling me?"

Luca went silent again. He had no choice but to unbuckle his seatbelt, get out of the car, and walk inside with Olivia. The whole way, he was thinking of how to get out of this.

But just as they reached the entrance, Olivia caught a glimpse of something nearby and froze.

Not far off, Linus was getting out of a car with his cane, accompanied by an old friend.

They were heading toward the courthouse!

"Luca, why is Grandpa here?!"

Luca's expression changed. He turned and saw Linus.

Both of their eyes were filled with shock and questions.

"Did you tell Grandpa?!" they asked at the same time, the air between them instantly tense.

Linus and his friend stood by the roadside, chatting for a bit.

Then, supporting each other, they walked toward a nearby restaurant. Turns out, Linus was just passing by to have lunch with his friend.

Both of them let out a sigh of relief at the same time, a subtle awkwardness lingering in the air. After all, they both hoped Linus wouldn't find out about the divorce.
