Chapter 37 Sowing Discord
Windy was dressed in Olivia's favorite brand—a brand-new outfit from this season's latest collection.
She hadn't even removed the price tag yet and had been saving it for a special occasion.
Not only was Windy wearing it now, but she was also clutching a scarf she usually wore.
"What are you doing?" Olivia's tone was harsh. "Who gave you the right to touch my clothes without my permission?"
Windy put on an innocent look. "Olivia, let me explain. My place got flooded because of a burst pipe, and all my clothes got soaked. Luca told me to come over and borrow some of your clothes."
She didn't put the scarf down; instead, she draped it around her neck. "Besides, I have an important meeting tomorrow and need something proper to wear. It's just a dress. You've got tons in your closet. Can't you just help me out? I'll wash it and return it to you."
Olivia's gaze turned icy. Windy's fake, pitiful expression made her sick. Windy knew full well that Olivia often wore this brand and loved this scarf, yet she deliberately wore them to annoy her.
Olivia narrowed her eyes. "You knew I wasn't home. Why didn't you wait for me to come back? Going through my closet and picking out my clothes without asking—do you have no shame?"
Windy lowered her head, looking all sad and wronged. "I didn't mean to. I know I was wrong. I'm sorry. Please don't be mad, okay?"
Olivia didn't want to hear her nonsense. "Take it off. Now."
Windy's expression shifted slightly, but before she could say anything, she suddenly looked behind Olivia.
Her eyes lit up. "Luca, you're back!"
Olivia turned around and saw the door open as Luca walked in.
He looked irritated, like something had gone wrong and put him in a bad mood.
And the moment he walked in and saw Olivia giving Windy a hard time, he got even angrier.
He had just come from the family estate, where his grandfather had scolded him harshly. Linus questioned why he only focused on work and wasn't cooperating with Olivia on starting a family. He even ordered Luca to make it a priority next month.
Luca was completely caught off guard. It took him a while to figure out that his grandfather had arranged for a doctor to help Olivia with her health, but she had shifted the blame onto him! She told his grandfather that Luca didn't want kids and often stayed at the office instead of coming home!
Now, seeing Olivia, Luca felt even more annoyed. With a dark expression, he stepped between the two of them, shielding Windy. "Windy's apartment got flooded. She's just borrowing a couple of your clothes. Do you really need to get this upset over it?"
Olivia laughed in anger. "Luca, those are my personal clothes. You let someone wear my stuff without even telling me. That doesn't show any respect!!"
Hearing the word "respect" made Luca even more displeased.
"Have you ever respected me? What did you say about me behind my back to Grandpa?"
Olivia was taken aback.
Luca scoffed, "Your clothes aren't some fragile treasure. Why are you so stingy about them? How much did they cost? I'll pay you for them!"
Olivia looked at his unapologetic face and found it ridiculous.
In this house, did she not even have the right to decide who wore her clothes?
Olivia took a deep breath and walked past him.
Luca was stunned. Clearly, she was the one in the wrong, so why was she acting like the victim?
Windy spoke weakly, "Luca, I shouldn't have put on the clothes first. But I was so cold, and I didn't feel right taking a shower here and wearing a robe, so I borrowed her clothes to stay warm. I didn't think it would upset Olivia this much…"
Hearing this, Luca felt Olivia was being unreasonable. Olivia disliked him, so she couldn't even tolerate the people around him.
As Luca was thinking this, Olivia came out of her room.
She was holding a big pile of clothes she had taken from her closet.
Standing at the top of the stairs, Olivia threw the clothes down.
They scattered all over the floor, leaving Luca and Windy stunned.
Olivia crossed her arms. "Don't you love wearing other people's clothes? Here, take these and wear them to your heart's content! I don't want anything you've touched. It's disgusting!"
Windy's face turned pale.
Olivia lifted her chin. "Pay me, Luca. For the ones with tags still on, pay the full price. For the ones I've worn, pay the second-hand market rate. Give the clothes to her. I don't want a single piece back."
Luca's face darkened with anger. He immediately pulled out his phone. "I'll transfer the money to you right now! Olivia, you're so unreasonable. No one can put up with you!"
Olivia wasn't upset. Getting a big sum of money made her happy, if anything.
The faint sound of a bank transfer notification echoed in the room.
Windy secretly felt thrilled but pretended to sigh with concern. "Luca, don't be mad. Olivia's in such a rush to settle things with you because she's probably preparing for a divorce."
The word "divorce" made Luca even more irritated.
He was the one who had brought up the agreement first, but now Olivia couldn't wait to draw a clear line between them!
Every day she lived here, she couldn't stand it, treating him like a stranger she wanted nothing to do with!
Luca felt a surge of anger out of nowhere. He stormed forward, pushed open Olivia's bedroom door, and shouted, "From now on, Windy can come here whenever she wants and use anything she needs. This isn't going to be your home for much longer anyway!"
After saying that, Luca felt a pang of regret.
Because he saw Olivia's body sway, as if she couldn't handle the impact of his words.
Olivia clenched her palms, using the pain to remind herself not to get too worked up for the sake of her health. Getting sick over Luca wasn't worth it.
Olivia took a deep breath, turned around, and looked at him with a hint of mockery in her eyes. "Then I won't stay here either. If you're not afraid of Grandpa finding out that Windy's become the lady of the house, then I'm not afraid of him knowing our relationship is bad."
She grabbed her car keys, ready to leave.
Luca felt an inexplicable nervousness and grabbed her wrist. "No way! You're not leaving without my permission!"
Olivia shook off his hand. "You don't get to decide that."
"Then let's see if you can take a single step out of here." Luca's tall figure blocked the doorway, standing there like a mountain.
Olivia felt suffocated with anger.
She had never met such an unreasonable man!
"Luca, you're a jerk!" Olivia pushed past him and slammed her bedroom door shut.
"Luca," Windy tried to stir things up again, "Olivia's so weird. She's impossible to get along with."
Luca stared at the closed door, his expression dark. He told the housekeeper, "Clean up these clothes on the floor." Then he turned to Windy, "This doesn't concern you anymore. The driver's waiting outside. Go with him to the hotel."
"But…"
Luca's tone grew heavier. "Leave now!"
Windy didn't dare make him angrier and put on an obedient act. "Okay, don't be too upset. Talk things out with Olivia. I'll go now."
After she left, Luca tugged at his tie in frustration and went to the bathroom to take a cold shower to cool off.
The icy water poured down, but the anger in Luca's heart only burned hotter.
After the shower, he wrapped a towel around himself.
He was the one who got scolded today, and he was the one who paid for a bunch of clothes.
If he didn't do something to get back at Olivia, wouldn't he be at a total loss?
Luca let out a cold huff, pushed open Olivia's bedroom door, and walked straight in.
