Chapter 123 – Eat Your Words

Chapter 123 – Eat Your Words

Trinity's POV
“Dinner will be soon, so… you’ll have to stay here. I’m sure you’re not so hungry that you’ll pass out.” Nasir said, coming so close to me that our lips were barely touching.
Why did I even choose to push their limits? What was I thinking?
I kept my gaze low and focused my mind on the sound of my heart beating. It was beating quite fast, and I knew it was because of a certain someone that was currently holding me half against my will.
“Look at me.” He whispered, and my gaze shot up, my eyes obeying him instantly, without giving me the time to think about if I really wanted to.
His amber eyes watched me, locking mine in his in a turbulent storm of conflicting emotions that made my breath catch in my throat.
The golden flecks seemed to burn with fury, yet beneath that anger lurked something darker, more primal—desire that he was fighting desperately to contain.
Or was he?
His jaw was clenched tight, the muscle ticking with tension, but those eyes betrayed him completely.
They smoldered with want even as they flashed with rage, creating an intoxicating combination that sent heat spiraling through my core. The way he looked at me was dangerous, compelling, absolutely magnetic in its raw intensity.
I felt relieved that he didn't realise we lied to him, but then a mix of dread and excitement filled my gut. "I-" I didn't know what to say. My mind was blank all of a sudden.
I could feel my heart hammering against my ribs, each beat echoing in the hollow space of my chest.
I was scared, but underneath that fear was something else, something I didn't want to acknowledge. Excitement. Raw, shameful excitement that made my skin feel too tight and my breath came in shallow gasps.
The danger of it all, the way he commanded the space around him, the sheer force of his presence—it was intoxicating in the most terrifying way possible.
My tongue felt heavy in my mouth, useless.
Words that had always come so easily to me seemed to have evaporated, leaving me standing there like some speechless fool. I opened my mouth again, trying to force something, anything, past my lips, but nothing came.
Suddenly, he grabbed both my arms and pinned them above my head with one hand, while he raised my chin with the second.
The movement was so swift, so unexpected, that a gasp escaped me before I could stop it.
His grip was firm but not painful, his fingers wrapping around my wrists with a confidence that made me know he was in complete control. The position left me utterly exposed, vulnerable in a way that should have terrified me.
And it did.
But it also sent liquid fire through my veins.
"You what, Trinity?"
My knees felt weak and I revelled in the way he called my name.
There was something about the way it rolled off his tongue, the slight emphasis on each syllable, that made it sound like a prayer and a threat all at once.
Trinity.
Not just any name, but mine.
Spoken with such deliberate intention that it seemed to reach inside me and touch something deep and hidden.
breath was warm against my face, his body close enough that I could feel the heat radiating from him. Every nerve ending seemed to be screaming, aware of his proximity in ways that made coherent thought impossible.
And maybe that’s why I found my voice.
I was being mischievous again, and I realized this side of me only came out when I was turned on. “I know.”
What the flip was I even saying.
He chuckled, the sound slightly mocking. “What do you know?”
"I know enough," I breathed, meeting his burning amber gaze. "I know you're scared."
A muscle in his jaw ticked. "Scared? Of what exactly?"
"Of admitting what this is between us." The words tumbled out before I could stop them. "Of feeling something real for once instead of hiding behind your precious duties."
His face darkened. "You don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't I?" I tilted my chin up defiantly. "You keep pushing me away, telling yourself I'm beneath you because I'm wolfless. Because loving me would make you—"
"Don't." His tone was lethal, like a blade warning me that if I came any closer, it’d cut me.
"Would make you do, Nasir? Less of an Alpha? Less of a man?" I would’ve flared my hands up in the air if they weren’t currently pinned above my head. As much as I loved to be in this position with him, it frustrated me a little bit.
His eyes flashed dangerously. "Careful, Trinity."
I could feel his body trembling with restraint, I could see the war raging behind his eyes. The smart thing would be to stop, to back down. But I'd never been particularly smart when it came to him.
So, I did the stupid thing instead. I pressed on.
"That's exactly what it would make you," I whispered, angling my head closer to his, causing our lips to brush against each other. "Less of a man."
I felt the electricity course between us from that small gesture, and all I wanted was for him to ravish me. My juices were literally dripping on my thighs, and I didn’t know what made me hornier. Because I was only in my robe, or because I knew he could smell my arousal.
Something snapped in his expression. The careful control he wore like armor cracked, revealing something raw and hungry underneath.
"Say it again," he growled, his face inches from mine. "I dare you."
My heart hammered against my ribs. This was dangerous territory, but I couldn't seem to stop myself from stepping right into the fire.
"You're less of a man for being afraid of what I make you feel."
His laugh was dark, predatory. "You want to test me? Want to see just how much of a man I really am?"
The air between us crackled with electricity. "I already know the answer."
"Do you know?"
