Chapter 61

Aria

"Sorry, beloved," Knight whispered before he pulled the knife out and thrust it into my stomach once again, "Revenge is more important to me than possession, but don't worry..." he once again pulled out the sharp weapon and insert it into the same place with double force, "Once I kill your mate, I'll save you because I have plenty of things I haven't done with you yet."

He finally withdrew the knife and let go of me;  The imbalance left me stumbling a few steps backward.

My hands moved to press onto the wound. The blood endlessly gushed out it, covering my hand and dripping down to the floor, the pain was unlike anything. Everything in front of my eyes went blank for a second and I found myself falling to the ground.

But my body did not end up colliding against the floor— Before I could fall to the ground, Hunter caught me in his arms.

"Aria..." He began hesitating, his eyes wide in horror and hands vigorously shaking as he watched the blood gush out of the deep wound continuously.

"Hunter, I..." I did not know what I should say, my skin went cold and the unbearable pain because of the deep wound....I was just at a loss of words, unable to even think straight let alone utter anything.

The force Knight stabbed the knife inside my stomach, made the wound so deep that it punctured through all layers of my skin and flesh and jabbed inside.

"Don't worry, love. I won't let anything happen to you," He rushed out, putting pressure on the wound using his hand to stop the bleeding. However, I knew the bleeding was not going to stop and the fear in Hunter's eyes, said that he knew it too.

Amusement was written all over Knight's face as he looked at us. Hunter's helplessness and my pain, both made a look of joy plaster on his features.

"Listen...." I struggled to speak but he did not let me finish my sentence. His restlessness was beyond the limit.

"I'll take you to the doctor right now, nothing will happen to you."

"No," I shook my head sucking in a breath, it was getting hard for me to speak, "You need to...kill this demon first."

A peal of laughter from Knight echoed the room upon my statement. A well-expected reaction from the rouge who was too full of himself to realize with each of his sins he was reaching his ultimate end that'd be nothing else than a pathetic death bestowed upon him.

"Good decision, Aria. Now I can have the satisfaction to kill your mate too. Your family and pack must have turned into food for the starving rouges I have sent to them," He said, "It's your mate who's left to be killed."

The preceding anger I had seen in my mate's eyes a while ago was still intractable, it was rising to the point of a flaming fire that could not be tamed and show Knight the wrath of the beast.

"If you don't kill this monster today, there are going to be thousands more victims like us and our pack. He'll ruin more lives of the innocents and build his empire over their dead bodies like he has been doing all these years. Today, this has to be finished. Monsters like him, do not deserve any mercy, Hunter." I spoke, "Kill him. Wipe his existence."

"I will," Hunter leaned closer and pressed his lips against my forehead then my lips, pouring all his love for me in that one single kiss only "I promise, I will."

"Go, kill him," I spoke against his lips and the beast within him was out once again, his claws extended and canines tore through his gums.

He did not shift completely, he stayed in control only to seek every bit of the revenge that burned within him.

I pulled myself away from him, resting my back against the table near us and putting my hand over my wound as sealed as possible to stop the blood loss.

"I must say, her blood smells too good." Knight hummed tracing my blood on his knife and inhaling the scent of it.

It all happened in a second. Once second Hunter was sitting close to me and the next second, it was him who was standing where Knight previously stood and Knight's body was left flying to the other side of the room, landing on the glass pieces of the broken bar and beer bottles.

It took me a minute to finally realize that it was Hunter's hit that left him like that.

It did not take Knight much longer to stand up and recover from the impact, he brushed off the glass pieces from his shirt and pant; Pulled the few ones that punctured his skin. Unexpectedly a smirk curved onto his lips; He snapped his fingers and beckoned Hunter to attack.

A growl rumbled in Hunter's chest and he strode towards Knight landing a tight punch on his jaw, I heard a cracking sound this time but that was soon broken with the sound of a...stab.

I looked at the scenery in horror, that monster used the same knife to injure him. But the difference was he stabbed it in Hunter's shoulder.

A worried gasp escaped my lips as I saw his blood drip down from his wound, "Hunter...."

"Don't take stress, sweetheart," Knight chuckled using the same twisting motion to deepen the injury, "I won't kill your mate so easily."

A groan of pain left Hunter's mouth and he elbowed him in the stomach leaving that monster stumbling backward; Hunter used the opportunity to pull out the dagger from his wound and use it to draw a sharp cut on his chest.

This was Knight, who emitted a sound of pain.

"Trust me, I won't let you have the satisfaction of killing me," Hunter said.

Knight tried to punch him but dodged it off and kick him in the ribs so that his body hit the pillar.

"How could you even possibly imagine that you can take my mate away from me, huh?" He grabbed him in a chokehold, "You'd really regret your decision of hurting my mate, Knight. I'd make sure to show you hell before I kill you with my own hands. You'll die such a pathetic death that you won't even find peace after dying."

"If your mate keeps losing blood like this, the mate you are fighting for will die anyways," Knight laughed, motioning at me to distract Hunter, and soon as his eyes fell on me that cunning monster headbutted him.

"Careful there, the love for your mate might turn into the reason for your death," Knight let out and punched Hunter taking the advantage of his imbalance because of being hit on the head.

"It's you who is going to die today, mark my words, Knight," Shouting Hunter grabbed his neck and threw him against the window, the loud sound shrouded the atmosphere.

He did not give him any chances to get up, and grabbed him by the collar and threw him against the wall, the paintings hanging there fell to the ground due to the harsh clash. He landed on his face, his lips busted and blood gushed out of it along with his nose.

Signs of defeat showed in Knight's eyes when he gathered himself from the floor that was covered with his own blood. It was not anger that shimmered in his eyes, it was doubts— Questions that made him doubt if this game was going to be on his side.

But then he strode and pounced at Hunter. Everything was a blur. Their attacks, the movements, every time they'd launch themselves at each other....it all went under a thick blur because of how rapid their actions were. All I could notice was their beastliness and aggression.

Nothing was clear other than the sound of their growls and shouts that'd break through every now and then.

On the other hand, I witnessed my skin turning paler and paler; The blood loss was going out of hand.

Suddenly I saw Hunter's body hit against the nearest wall with such a force that a gush of wind brushed past me. The crack on the wall appeared almost instantly.

"Hunter...." A worried gasp tore from my throat.

He did not waste a second and attacked Knight once again. Till then both of them have gotten their fair share of injuries and scars, but fortunately, it was Knight who had more injuries than Hunter. He was covered in his own blood.

As the moments passed Knight's hits started losing their strength but Hunter's only got stronger and stronger.

"Watch your own death advancing towards you, Knight. See it with your own eyes," Hunter was throwing Knight here and there like a rag doll as if he weighed nothing, "It's your end I am going to write it. You have already lost this battle.

"You have lost the battle too, Hunter," Knight laughed, the blood gushed out of his mouth as he talked, "Your pack is a deadland till now, and soon the rouges will tear you down into pieces too just as they did to your pack members."

"It's your misconception that you think those rouges have succeeded in destroying my pack," Hunter emitted a small laugh as he picked Knight from the ground by his neck and slammed his head against the wall, a spurt of blood from Knight's mouth covered the wall.

"Staying in my pack might have given you access to know the security methods but there's one mistake you made, and that was to not try to learn about the traps we have set outside the border." Hunter said and this time he slammed Knight's head against another wall, as he dragged him there he left a trail of blood covering the surface, "Soon as each of your rouges would step on those traps, they'll be scattered into tiniest pieces because of explosion. And the army of thousands of rouges will only reach the pack in the number of hundreds."

"And I am sure you know, how easy it is for my pack to kill a few hundred rouges. It would be done within a few fucking minutes."

This was the moment when the realization finally crossed Knight's expression; He knew he already lost and at that moment, he could see his death in Hunter's glazing eyes.

And this was when he used his fraudulent way and grabbing the ashes from the ashtray on the side he threw them into Hunter's eyes.

A hiss tore from his mouth and stumbled backward. He vigorously rubbed his eyes, trying to open them but to no avail, he was unarmed and because of Knight's duplicity he was even unable to be aware of his surroundings.

Concern shrouded my mind, my rapid heartbeats banged against my chest. I knew Knight was going to try something dire. He was going to play it dirty, once again.

As soon as he began limping towards the knife to grab it, I became aware of his motive.

I couldn't let this monster hurt my mate no matter what.

So I gathered the last drops of my strength to stand up. My eyes noticed the swords hanging on the wall.

My body was not supporting me to take any step further, in fact, my legs were giving up so badly. But I needed to save my mate and for me, he was my first priority, his life mattered to me the most and right now I did not even know if I was going to remain alive after losing so much blood and this wound that possibly wouldn't heal.

So, I did what I had to. I forced myself to the point of excruciating pain in order to reach the sword and grab it in my hand.

My eyes widened once I saw Knight reaching closer to Hunter and raising the knife to stab it in his neck from behind. Pushing away all my pain and thoughts, I strode where they were.

The knife was inches away from Hunter's skin when I raised the sword and beheaded Knight with one swift motion of the sharp weapon. His blood came splattering at the side of my face and his head landed at my feet whilst his body dropped lifeless on the side.

The thud sound made Hunter turn around, and he managed to look at me even though he could open his eyes to the bare minimum.

He looked at the dead body of Knight and then at the sword in my hand that dripped with his blood.

My legs finally lost their balance and I dropped to the floor before Hunter could hold me.

Hunter quickly dropped to his knees and pulled me in his arms, "Aria....oh, god." he was hesitating about what to do.

I doubted that there was anything he could do after how much blood I have lost.

"Hunter...listen," I struggled to speak, my breathing was coming in pants, "I'm sorry. Just because of the flaws of our relationship, he managed to put us in this position. I am sorry..." tears gathered in my eyes.

This could be the last time I was seeing him.

The thought that I might never get to see him again hurt me to the extreme that it overpowered the pain I was going through.

"It's not your fault, baby. It's not your fault," Hunter shook his head, he too had tears in his eyes, "I'll save you, okay? Nothing's going to happen to you."

A smile spread on my lips as I looked at Hunter's face. I reached out and traced my fingertips on his cheeks and lips.

"Kiss me, Hunter. Just one last kiss before all of it ends..." My voice was barely higher than a whisper.

"Nothing will end. You'll be fine, I promise I'll not let anything...." I cut him off by pressing my lips against his, the warmth of his arms engulfed me and sparks shot through just like always.

I couldn't keep the kiss longer because of the state I was in. Inching closer to my death...

I looked into Hunter's tear-filled eye, black dots began blanketing my vision and dragging me into the endless trap that I might never be able to emerge from.

"I love you..." It was all I could say before my eyes closed shut on their own and the endless darkness sucked me into its deepest depth.
