Chapter 26 I Will Stay Tonight

"You..."

Christina's face turned pale with anger, but before she could say something, David stopped her, "Go back first."

It was not a good idea to remain in such a stalemate, so Christina could only suppress her anger and leave the Whitfield villa in a huff.

Now, there were only Jennifer and Michael left.

Jennifer finally put away the coldness and anger in her eyes. Somewhat at a loss, she thanked Michael, "Thank you for believing in me."

Michael, in a neutral tone, said, "I only see the facts."

Even though he said so, Jennifer still felt grateful that he did not directly drive her away.

No longer dwelling on this matter, she tugged lightly at the hem of her clothes and whispered, "Today, William was scared. Can I accompany him tonight?"

She could tell from Christina's words that William might have been hurt by a home tutor before.

Today, such a thing happened, and she wondered if Michael would restrict her from getting close to William.

Michael was calm, speaking in a calm tone as if it were an unimportant matter, "I will stay too."

"What?" Jennifer's eyes widened in confusion as she looked at Michael.

Was he planning to accompany William with her?

Wasn't it inappropriate for an unmarried man and woman to be together?

Jennifer was confused. Was he testing her again?

Michael raised his eyebrow slightly, "My room is being renovated."

His tone was calm as if Jennifer had misunderstood.

But Jennifer could sense the teasing tone in his words.

In her heart, she complained, “With so many rooms in the Whitfield villa, why did he have to stay in William's room while she was accompanying William?”

Michael looked at her slightly blushing ears, his brows furrowing even more.

Why did she blush so easily?

In a good mood, he spoke, "As a father, can't I sleep in m William's room? What are you thinking?"

…

He said this again.

Jennifer felt helpless. She wasn't thinking of anything, just feeling a bit awkward.

Forget it, she couldn't explain it to him. Jennifer changed the subject, "You stay with William, and I'll go make dessert for him."

She turned to leave.

"Have I given you permission to leave?"

Michael's tone suddenly turned serious. Jennifer's steps faltered. Could it be that he didn't want her to spend too much time with William?

So did that mean he decided to stay and accompany William and they didn't need her anymore?

The sourness in her heart surged, making her want to cry.

As Michael stared at her left cheek, a layer of coldness covered his eyes, her skin as white as snow, with five distinct fingerprints visible from being slapped.

How could his home tutor be hit?

A sudden inexplicable anger rose, "Let Robby give you the healing ointment, apply the medicine, and then go cook."

Was that all?

Jennifer was momentarily stunned, and her heart suddenly warmed, and she gave a big smile, "Thank you."

This smile was like the light of a cold day, dazzling Michael's eyes.

An hour later, the sweet fragrance wafted through the air, filling the entire room with sweetness.

It seemed like everything had returned to peace and tranquility.

Michael, who had never been interested in desserts, sniffed and suddenly felt a bit hungry.

He picked up William who had just woken up and said, "Let's go eat."

William was about to complain about being forcefully picked up by Michael when he smelled the scent of desserts.

Happily, they went to eat.

After eating desserts, William became lively again, which put Jennifer at ease and she continued to accompany him in reading and drawing.

Seeing the happy look of the two, Michael's eyes softened.

In the evening, it was time for acupuncture.

Michael gently pushed open William's room door.

Inside, the two were lying on the bed without any sense of decorum. Jennifer supported her chin with one hand while flipping through a storybook with the other.

Her raised foot swayed back and forth, her pale skin shining brightly, and her long beautiful legs looked even more striking against the cartoon bedsheet.

Her voice telling the story was as gentle as a breeze, soothing and pleasant to the ear like willow branches gently brushing against his heart.

Michael looked at them attentively, reflecting the figures of them in his pupils.

Reluctant to disturb the current tranquility, Michael quietly sat on the edge of the bed, listening to Jennifer telling the story.

It seemed that without acupuncture, just listening to her stories could make him fall asleep.

But how could he suddenly sit on the bed without being noticed?

Jennifer immediately sat up, and straightened her clothes, sounding slightly surprised, "Mr. Whitfield."

How come he walked without making any sound?

Her voice stopped, his drowsiness fading away. Michael said, "Come over and give me acupuncture."

"No, Jennifer is telling me a story." William immediately blocked Jennifer, looking very displeased at Michael, "You can't take away Jennifer."

Michael looked at William and found him somewhat annoying. His voice was low, "You should go to sleep."

"I'm not sleepy."

William looked at Michael as if he were looking at an intruder, tightly hugging Jennifer, afraid that Michael would take her away.

Michael also looked at William at the same time, indicating that he should go to sleep now.

The two seemed to be in a state of conflict.

Jennifer was slightly speechless.

She looked at Michael and advised, "I'll try to put William to sleep first."

Upon hearing this, Michael withdrew his gaze and began to rest with his eyes closed.

Jennifer hummed a lullaby and lightly patted William.

William. soon fell asleep.

Turning back to look at Michael, she didn't expect that he had also fallen asleep.

Jennifer moved slowly to fetch a pillow for Michael, making him more comfortable to sleep.

After settling him down, she planned to move to the other side of William.

However, as soon as she moved, Michael suddenly reached out, his long arm pulling Jennifer into his arms.

"Mr. Whitfield."

Jennifer suppressed a cry of surprise, afraid of waking up William.

At this moment, she had already fallen into Michael's arms. Her eyes looked panicked like a startled kitten.

Michael's sturdy chest was right in front of her, and she could hear his strong heartbeat.

His strong arms held her tightly, and Jennifer felt his skin burning hot, whether it was from the summer heat or something else she did not know.

Jennifer nervously swallowed, and spoke softly, "Mr. Whitfield, I am Jennifer."

She thought Michael mistook her for William.

Michael seemed to have fallen asleep, completely unresponsive.

Jennifer felt her skin getting hotter and her heart beating fast.

What should she do?

Jennifer gritted her teeth and forcefully pushed Michael away.

Fortunately, Michael didn't wake up.

...

Jennifer breathed a sigh of relief and quickly moved to the other side of William, far away from Michael.

But just the thought of Michael being next to her made it impossible for Jennifer to fall asleep.

She had a night full of strange dreams, especially when breathing gradually became difficult.

Jennifer struggled to open her eyes to wake herself up from the dream, only to find herself in Michael's chest.

Jennifer exclaimed, bouncing up directly from the bed.

Startled, Michael also opened his eyes.

Just then, Jennifer looked down at her clothes and then at Michael, "Last night..."
