Chapter 385 Mistress
"I just wanna be good to you, no reason needed." Isabella's face was full of tenderness as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "You're my husband, the father of my child. Of course, I gotta take care of you."
"Did Terry say something to you?" Michael's brows furrowed slightly as he asked, guessing.
"Yeah, Terry sent me a message. But I'm good to you not because of him, but because I want to be good to you." Isabella leaned weakly against his chest, explaining slowly.
Michael held her, the subtle fragrance on her calming his restless heart. "Isabella, if you had to do something, even if it was dangerous, would you still do it?"
"Depends on what it is and what kind of danger." Isabella replied.
Michael spoke slowly, "Terry told me I can't go up against the Runyon family, that I shouldn't choose revenge. But after all these years, I still remember how warm my mother's embrace was, how gentle her voice was when she spoke to me.
"When I close my eyes, I see her, still young, standing in front of me, smiling. But in my dreams, no matter how I chase, I can never catch up to her."
"As her son, knowing who killed my mother and yet having to let go of the hatred and live as if nothing happened, I can't do it."
"Michael, I know you can't; anyone in your position wouldn't be able to. But please, wait a little longer. Give me some time, okay?" Isabella pleaded.
"Isabella, what are you planning?" Michael asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.
"Michael, don't ask now. It won't be long before I tell you." Isabella promised.
During her days abroad, her phone signal was poor. When she returned, she found that Leroy had called and messaged her, but she hadn't received them.
Once she contacted Leroy, she would know more about Mrs. Runyon's situation.
"Isabella, if you have something going on, you must tell me. Don't hide anything from me." Michael said seriously, looking at her suspiciously.
"I will, but it's not confirmed yet. Once it is, I'll definitely tell you." Isabella said, feeling guilty.
She quickly changed the subject, "The gifts we brought, I want to deliver Kenna's myself. I want to give it to her personally."
"You care so much about her, why not be nicer to me?" Michael said jealously.
Isabella cupped his face and kissed him, laughing, "Are you jealous of Kenna? She was your first love."
Michael playfully bit her earlobe, feeling a bit mischievous hearing the term "first love" from her.
But he agreed to let her deliver the gift personally.
Having missed a lot of work due to the vacation, he stayed home to handle business, sending a bodyguard to accompany her.
Isabella called Kenna, arranging to meet at the café across from the Jackson Group.
Soon, Kenna walked in gracefully, drawing everyone's attention in the café.
Kenna ignored the stares, accustomed to being the center of attention.
She walked straight to Isabella, sitting down and asking, "How was Azure Wing Isle? I went there with Preston and Michael before. Michael even made wine under the winemaker's guidance. That year, the vineyard's grape yield was low, and only a few bottles were made. He stored one bottle in the vineyard, it must be a rare item now. Did he take it out for you to taste?"
"He mentioned it, but unfortunately, I can't drink now." Isabella reminded with a smile.
Kenna slapped her forehead, feeling annoyed, "I forgot you're pregnant, so he didn't take it out? Great, next time we go, I'll make sure to drink that bottle."
"Sure! Next time we'll go together. This is the gift Michael and I brought for you. Michael said you like these." Isabella handed her a beautifully wrapped gift box.
Kenna smiled, "Thank you, I'll definitely enjoy it."
"Has Austin not returned yet?" Isabella asked.
Kenna's eyes widened in surprise, asking curiously, "Isabella, have you thought it through? Even though you're pregnant with someone else's child, if you fall for Austin, the Jackson family will treat your child as their own. I swear, I'm serious."
Isabella blushed, quietly defending, "I'm not concerned about him, I'm worried about Lucy. She's been away with Austin for so long without any news. Aunt Luna happened to be abroad and doesn't know about this. Aunt Luna is returning soon, if Lucy doesn't come back, Aunt Luna will break her legs."
Austin had gone to the Jackson family's hometown to honor their ancestors, and Lucy had secretly followed. Only Isabella and Kenna knew about this. If the Johnson family found out, it would cause a huge uproar.
Kenna nodded firmly, "Don't worry, I'll contact Austin and make sure Lucy returns before Luna does."
They exchanged smiles.
"Kenna, you bitch!" Suddenly, a woman rushed over, cursing at Kenna.
She held a bottle of some unknown substance and splashed it on Kenna.
The situation was so sudden, catching them off guard! Kenna instinctively shielded Isabella with her body, taking the full brunt of the liquid.
The bodyguard accompanying Isabella saw this and immediately subdued the woman.
In that moment, Kenna's heart sank. She thought the woman had thrown acid, and if she took it head-on, her face would be ruined.
She was quite fond of her face, and if it were disfigured, she would be devastated.
But thankfully, there was no pain, it wasn't acid.
"Kenna, are you okay?" Isabella asked urgently.
Kenna quickly moved away, saying, "Don't get too close, I don't know what it is, it smells awful, don't let it affect you."
"Who are you? Why did you do this?" Isabella angrily questioned the restrained woman.
The woman glared at Kenna, cursing, "You bitch, you seduced my husband, you deserve to die."
"Who is your husband?" Kenna asked coldly, feeling confused.
The smell on her was awful, like cat urine.
"My husband is Cameron Simmons. Because of you, he wants to divorce me." The woman said, her eyes red with anger.
Kenna frowned. Cameron Simmons? She didn't even know this person.
"You're lying, Kenna isn't like that." Isabella retorted angrily.
Kenna shielded Isabella behind her, saying, "Don't waste words with her, call the police and let them handle it."
She took out her phone and started dialing the police.
