Chapter 50 - Out For Blood
~~~ Hayden ~~~
“Baby, what is happening to you?” I gently pull her into my arms, her face is pale and she is mildly convulsing.
I hold her close to my chest, shock and panic are eating me alive. One minute ago, she was feeling fine, and then she passed out, all of a sudden.
Was there something wrong with the fruits? I ate as well and there was no harm to my body. None other than sensing her troubles through the mate bond.
I place a pillow underneath her head and bolt out the door, trying every room, until I reach Gabriel. I didn’t want to leave her alone, but he might know what affected her, he might have a solution.
“Allaya, something happened to her! I need your help!” I utter as soon as I spot him, despair coming out in waves from my body.
“What did you do to her, wolf?” He slams me against the nearest wall. “Did you harm her? If you touched a single hair of her body, I’ll kill you on the spot!”
Maddox is trying to take control and force me to shape-shift, but that would be the dumbest thing to do in a castle filled with blood-suckers. And it won’t solve whatever happens to Allaya, which is my main priority.
‘Not a good moment!’ I reprimanded my wolf, though I understand how he is concerned.
“Why would I do something to the woman I love, to my mate?” I growl, forcibly removing his hand off my throat, my chest is heaving with rage.
“What happened?” His face is clouded, the vampire really cares about her.
“We skipped all meals in the last two days, and after we ate some slices of fruit, she passed out, suddenly.”
After a few moments of contemplation, his lips shape into a devilish smile, and much to my horror, the next thing he does is to dissolve into laughter.
What the fuck! This was not what I had expected from his part.
Anger is coursing through my veins. “Do I perhaps amuse you? Is Allaya’s wellbeing of no importance to you?” I cast him a life-threatening glare, which seemed to amuse him further.
“Allaya had awakened as a hybrid.”
Like I wouldn’t know that. “So?”
“Ohh, I heard EVERYTHING that you and my niece did in the last days, but are you still thinking with your other head, wolf? I thought you were a smart one, but clearly, I was wrong.”
A million thoughts are racing through my mind in a split second, until the answer finally comes to me.
Blood.
Allaya needs blood.
She is half werewolf, half vampire. Her vampire side requires for her to feed on blood.
Fuck, how did I not think of this?
“I’ll bring someone to feed her.” Gabriel declares nonchalantly. “And then you’ll be free to carry on with your… activities.” He smirks.
“Fine!”
I rush back to the room, only to find my beautiful mate trashing from one side to the other, the scent of her arousal is stronger than ever. Without even realizing, I inhale it deeply, my wolf crying inside to take her, to mark her, claim her as ours.
“Shhhh, love, it will pass soon!” I press her against my chest and kiss her closed eyes.
And the second she opens them, I lose my ability to breathe.
Her eyes are bewitching, their black pitch color is replaced with a purple one, that holds strong, irresistible emotions. Love, lust and a compelling sexual desire. I would do anything for her, as long as she has her eyes locked with mine.
World slows down, time stops and all I can do is stare at her. To admire her beauty, she has me under a spell and I love every minute of it. I’d give my life for her anytime, but now, now it’s different. If she were to ask, I’d go on a killing spree. I don’t care about the boundaries anymore. If she were to ask, I’d…
Am I compelled?
My love for her is genuine, but now my feelings are enhanced to the brink of despair, to the point of addiction.
I open my mouth to speak, but the door opens, and Gabriel enters the door, followed closely by a human man.
Allaya’s eyes start glowing as her regard lands on the human, the purple color is now of a more reddish shade, even more irresistible than before.
I fight for control and snap out of my trance. “What is this?” I demand Gabriel.
“Food. This is food!”
“Are you fucking serious? You want her to feed from a human?”
“What did you expect, wolf? A bag of blood?” He quirks a brow at me.
“You want her to kill a human being?”
“We don’t kill them! We feed on them, but stop in time and they recover after a few days of rest. We even pay them, and a handsome amount I might add.”
“And you think that she’ll be able to stop?”
I don’t finish my words, that the human, spellbound by my beautiful mate, takes small steps in her direction, tossing his shirt on the way. He is unbuckling his pants and then peels them off, his erection visible through the underwear.
Gabriel is puzzled as well, now understanding what he really did, he brought a human to half she-wolf that is in heat, a half vampire that would not be able to stop in time.
A powerful growl escapes my chest, making the human tremble in fear, and driving Allaya’s attention to me. Silence engulfs the room.
She closes her eyes as if to fight for control, and the clear purple color returns.
“Hayden, what is happening to me?”
Her face is contorted in pain, her forehead is sweaty, I can feel her ordeal through the mate bond as well.
“Take him out of here!” I demand in a menacing tone. “And don’t ever bring her a human to feed on! This is not who she is!”
“And how do you intend to solve her thirst?”
“With my blood.”
I’ll give her my blood, now and forever. I won’t allow an innocent to be hurt and as sure as hell I won’t allow a man in her proximity when she’s in heat.
“Now leave!” I order and to my surprise, Gabriel takes the human away.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what has gotten into me.” She whispers with pleading eyes.
“Sshhhh, baby, you’ll be fine soon!”
I pull her into my arms, a shiver runs down my spine as her teeth elongate and pierce the skin on my neck.
Fuck! What is this sensation?
