Chapter 22 Chapter 22
Chapter 22 Chapter 22
SERAPHINA
I had been blindfolded for hours that felt like days.
The things I've always read on the news are not happening to me live and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it.
I already bid my mom good-bye in anticipation to see her again only for the unforeseen to happen.
The question that I kept asking myself…
Who have I offended that will think this is the best way to punish me? Who?
What would my mother be feeling?
They'd most probably be thinking it's one of those days where I'd want to look for excuses again to stay off or see some friends at their own expense.
Reverse was the case this time, I have been abducted.
“Who is there? What have I done to deserve this? Why are you holding me hostage? What do you want from me?”
I kept screaming these phrases repeatedly hoping that someone would at least answer me.
My voice kept hitting the walls and bouncing back at me. The room was empty, and I was even immersed in the emptiness itself.
I felt like crying, I screamed until I didn't have the strength to anymore.
For the very first time I felt lonely…I felt the whole world against me. The thoughts of what my mother will do to herself fuelled my anger.
Wait a sec…
I've been screaming ever since I gained consciousness and it's not looking like there's anyone within reach. Maybe this is my time. Maybe this is my time to get myself out of here.
I have often heard that staying calm in turbulent situations can help one figure out solutions.
I realized that the rope that held my hand behind was already slacked. A ray of hope maybe…just maybe.
I was able to lose rope from my hands and the blindfold from my eyes.
The room seemed like an old storehouse, with clueless inscriptions scribbled all over the wall, maybe it could give me an insight where I am exactly.
I searched frantically around if I could see my purse or anything that belonged to me to no avail.
The last thing I remembered was a big arm wrapping itself around me with a handkerchief. Whether my purse was with me or not, is something I can't even give an answer to.
“Oh my!”
I continued placing around the room, trying to find my way out. The door of this mysterious room is not visible.
I tried using my hand to trace the lines on the wall little by little if I could find a way out but it kept ending in futility.
I was still trying to trace my fingers through the lines when I heard a creak. I stopped in my tracks. Balls of sweat trickled down my cheeks.
What if they have come to kill me?
Or what if they want to release me?
Are the police around?
I continued to ask myself these questions as a part of the wall dropped open.
“Look what we have here…she's trying to escape”
A voice growled.
A masculine figure emerged through the shadows, darting flirtatious looks at me.
The rays of light coming from the opening were blinding, thanks I couldn't get a proper image of who exactly was approaching but the voice sounded familiar.
“Who are you and what do you want from me? There's a more matured way to settle things instead of abducting me”
The figure laughed sarcastically, as he approached me.
“Look who's talking about maturity…you amaze me Seraphina”
Did he just mention my name? Who's this? I leaned forward to have a clearer view for myself.
Mason! I couldn't believe my eyes.
“Mason! I can't believe you can be so delusional to do something like this. What exactly do you want from me and why are you doing this?”
“Talking about being delusional, it is Lucian”
He sounded so sarcastic, yet annoying.
“You should keep that name out of your mouth. It is me and you here now so tell me what exactly it is that you want. We could just meet up somewhere instead of doing this silly thing”
This guy has plans up his sleeves. I have no idea what he's thinking or what he wants.
“Well, what I want from you is simple and you're the only person that can do that for me. You either agree or agree. This is not the option of yes or no…it's either yes or yes”
He burst into another round of sarcastic laughter after dropping the last consonant. I was engulfed in so much hate and disgust.
“But you know you don't have to do this…there's a better way to handle this”
I felt my voice shaking at this point. I have no idea why I suddenly became afraid. His voice depicted sarcasm yet carried so much power and seriousness.
“Don't tell me you are afraid my dear…this is the best way to deal with this”
He started taking subtle steps toward me. I could hear my own heartbeat as he moved with every step.
“Sir, the package has arrived”
Two men dressed in black walked in.
“You guys can let her have her space…she doesn't have anywhere to go…she belongs to me here…she has what I want”
He kept moving towards me until the only thing I fell behind me was the wall. He raised his hand slowly to caress my face.
The stench of alcohol coming from his breath was enough irritation for me to spit at his face.
“I owe you nothing and there's nothing you can do to get anything out of me, just leave me and let me go”
“You are Lucian's mate and you are the best candidates to get what I want from him I have no business with you whatsoever it is Lucian I want”
“When the time is right, you would play just like the pawn that you are in my hands. For now enjoy the serenity of this luxury I'm giving you”
“Damn you Mason!” I yelled.
