CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE
For several years, the fountain of power had been locked and its key hidden in a secret location only the Alpha King knew of.
But when Jethro became the Royal Delta, he began an indirect search for it. He used his position to go through the pack files, searching for it over the years. When he finally found it, he discovered it had been hidden in plain sight; right in front of the pack house, the huge water fountain had a pearl at the top of it. He found the images in a story book meant for children but was hidden away in the Royal Pack House attic.
When he finally got his hands on it, he sped up his quest of conquering the WereWolf kingdom
It didn't matter who came up against him because he was now very sure of the location of the Fountain of power, the pearl, a live locator.
When he had shown his full self to the King and his council, he quickly abandoned everything else and hastened to the fountain as this was the most important part of his quest; for in controlling the water supply, he will gain absolute control of the entire werewolf kingdom.
He told his minions to keep the king and Dante occupied as he rushed to the underground dungeon. As he walked in, he began opening the doors of the cells, releasing the Kingdom’s most wanted criminals back into the world.
“Go and kill those who imprisoned you” he commanded them and they happily obliged.
When he got to the last cell, the locator kept pointing forward, to a wall.
He pushed it, but nothing happened. He kept rubbing the wall, hitting it, screaming at it; he was so close to his triumph and now this obstacle might cost him his victory.
In anger he kicked the wall and a heavy amount of mud fell off from the wall, revealing an iron handle.
Smiling, he kept kicking the wall till everything wore off and he grabbed the handle but it was very hot, burning his arm.
But Jethro was used to pain, his mind and body had been put through layers of pain that he was not immune to the feeling but he had learnt how to live with it.
He then closed his eyes and grabbed the handle.
Everyone in the pack could smell the burning smell that came from the underground dungeon as it took a lot of time before he was able to pull the old handle in the right direction, forcing the door open.
Hesitantly, he stepped into the dark room, his almost dead wolf perking up in recognition to the great power that was in the room.
It was huge the ground was stone all through, the water pouring from the head of a wolf down the path that led down to the river.
His plan was to get to the head of the wolf and this was only going to be easy if he was either the king or he could fly. He was neither.
The water spread out in different areas, the pressure strong enough to carry him away.
He looked around him and saw wooden planks that were used probably thousands of ages ago and he picked it. It was probably going to break under pressure but he was a sorcerer; he could do something about it.
He cast a spell on the wood before placing it on top of the first water pathway.
But immediately the water touched it, the spell dissipated.
So he brought it out and began searching for stones.
He found some and threw it to the other side and positioned it on the equal side where he stood and he tried the spell again.
This time, it held as the water was far from it.
He stepped on the wood and began climbing.
When he got to the middle of it, the water became alive, splashing all around the room. Terrified, he began running towards the other side but before he could get there, the water succeeded in hitting the wood and it broke but Jethro jumped, landing on the other side, his knee hitting the stone.
With injuries on his hand and leg, he sped up his journey. He knew once he got to the top, everything will be worth it. He could finally prove to the moon goddess that he was better than her in all her glory. Even though he was a man, for her to be in charge of the amount of pain he felt at the loss of his mate, something must be wrong with her.
He finally got close to the head before he looked back and saw Dante and when he ignored him and looked forward, shockingly, there stood his mate.
“You need to stop. All of this has gone too far! You cannot destroy the very essence of our existence and expect it to go well, Jethro. This needs to stop now!” Taylor shouted at him, trying to give him one last chance.
Befuddled but still resilient, he ignored her pleas. He noticed that the room weakened his powers but once he got to that wolf head, it'll be reversed. He will become a god!
“You are in my path woman. I have plans for you but not now so get out of my way. If I throw you into this water, you won't survive it” he growled threateningly, rushing towards the steps that led to the top.
Taylor shook her head before pointing her hands towards Jethro, connecting with the powers that pooled in her wolf's mind and stomach
Dante, the King and many people who were there to stop Jethro from destroying the pack’s source of power saw the change in Taylor.
Her hair stood on its end, the red shining as bright as fireworks. Looking closer, one could see her eyes changing color, and her veins became blue, and as she opened her mouth, a dead language poured out of it.
When she released her power towards Jethro, at first, it only shook him and in return, he sent lightning to her.
It hit her and she fell causing everyone to shout but before Jethro could get to her, she rose up and this time, she was flying.
She spread her hands and she screamed the words of condemnation and judgment on Jethro.
“For all that you have killed, for all that you have deceived, for my child that you killed, you are hereby marked for death!” she screamed, sending a white bolt to him and it struck him, sending him across the room into the water he had crossed earlier; and the water began to boil him from the inside out.
He had known pain before but this was different. The evil powers he had earlier on consumed was being purged out of his system, the ones he had over other wolves, causing them to join his revolt were snapping back to him, increasing his punishment.
It was a terrifyingly slow punishment and the pack watched it happen.
When it was over, he opened his eyes and began begging for forgiveness but there was none to be given to him.
“Bring him out so he doesn't contaminate our water” Dante commanded one of the wolves.
Taylor sent one final bolt that killed him immediately and there was a moment of quiet.
Then the entire pack began going down on their knees one by one and to the shock of the King and Taylor's mate, they chorused
“Long Live our Queen”
