CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
The thought of Jethro gaining access to the fountain where every water source in the werewolf kingdom is connected shook even the traitors. He could kill everyone with one single dose of the arsenal of potions he had in his possession.
The King left the fight to Dante and the more soldiers who were pouring into the hall.
He chased after Jethro and the traitor soldiers chased after him, making the room clear up a bit.
Meanwhile, Taylor had finally connected to the goddess and it was a scary situation. If anyone saw her, they could kill her as she was in between worlds.
When she appeared in the familiar surroundings, she and her wolf quickly ran down the path that led to the moon goddess and in no time, they had come to a swing where she sat, humming a song.
She looked at the beautiful garden but she was more drawn to the ethereal beauty of the goddess. She had seen her before but she still felt amazed at her beauty.
Taylor got close, her wolf in tow and the goddess finally turned to her.
“Taylor, you have disappointed me sorely. I gave you powers and you have refused to use it and now my enemy is close to the power source of the werewolves.” She said to Taylor, her expression depicting disappointment.
Taylor fell to her knees and began pleading with her.
“I had no guide and no one to teach me how to use them and my mate and I have faced so many challenges since I last saw you. I'm so sorry for not living up to your expectations. Please forgive me, great goddess” she begged, her wolf also bowing down.
“Well, I forgive you. You are but a little child and I put all these responsibilities on your shoulders. Get up. We have much to do and too little time.” She commanded, getting up from her seat
Taylor got up as well and followed her as she began climbing the long stairs beside them.
“What did you mean the fountain was our power source? I thought that was you.” Taylor asked.
“Well, there are laws in the land of the gods. Everyone has to have their powers curtailed. It is the reason many species are created. Instead of holding it all in, we let it into you all, sharing the gifts that come with our status as gods. In that fountain lies the power to become a god and I don't know how, but Jethro knows this and that is what he's going for.”
“Hell no! We must stop him. He's very heartless and if he gets access to more power, he will not stop destroying lives.”
“Yes, we just stop him” the goddess said as they got to the top of the stairs.
Right in the middle of the stairs that led to four different directions was a raised dais, a bowl on it.
She beckoned me to come close and there was a shimmery, blue liquid in it. She put her two hands in the liquid substance and poured it on my head.
I couldn't possibly put how I felt into words. It was heavenly, it was powerful and so many more.
“I have decided to give the throne to you and your generation. Cane allowed so many atrocious acts to happen under his watch while he enjoyed all his father had worked for.” I began to protest but she raised her hand to stop me. “It's not negotiable. You shall be their queen, not just because of your wisdom but you have experienced everything that ails the werewolf kingdom and you can empathize with the people. Your reign will bring to an end all sort of inhumane rejection of mates. If one doesn't want their chosen mate, they can reject them in an honorable way.” She instructed, showing how she had been affected by the cruelty meted out by power hungry wolves, both male and female.
“Also, I'll have to create an institution that takes care of wolves whose mates have passed. Jethro simply needed to be reconnected to you and he would have been better and all of these could have been avoided”
“That is brilliant?” She beamed, making me smile.
We walked down through the second arm of the stairs, my wolf trudging after us.
“This will take you straight to the fountain. You have more powers than any other wolf ever so you can stop Jethro. Don't disappoint me” she commanded and I nodded eagerly, ready to put an end to all of this.
She told me to close my eyes and I felt my wolf come back into my body, a free-falling sensation prickling my senses.
When I opened my eyes, I was standing in front of a shocked Jethro.
