CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND NINETEEN
CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND NINETEEN
His aura was evil like he'd been through a lot of preparation for this battle.
All the fights and screams around me suddenly stopped as we all took in the deformed form of Damon.
He was on four legs, the veins on his neck were bigger than my arms and his face had morphed into something evil.
He rose on his hind legs and roared, throwing everyone around him off with his thrashing.
At the command of his master, he ran towards me, making people scream and try to set him off.
“Now's your time to prove to the devil that you're more than a little girl,” the angel whispered in my ear, focusing my attention on the wild demon hurtling towards me, “you're going to show him that you're his worst nightmare Aria. Reach into your soul and show him who you are!”
It was like something else took over me, that personality I'd been fighting off all this while; it was within me with power, begging to be unleashed.
I didn't stop her; I let her rear her head in my mind, letting the cold fill me up, setting me on a war path.
Damon got to me and roared ferociously, his large teeth in my face directly.
Instead of running away like my real self was screaming, I reached forward with my hand into his wide mouth and unleashed a torrent of ice.
His eyes widened in shock as he began to freeze, chunks of him falling apart from how intense the ice was.
In a few seconds, he was gone, his eyes wide, but completely iced.
I took my hand back and the smile on my face said game on.
“Be careful; you're not at full strength,” the Archangel told me as I ran off, killing demons left, right, and center.
The thing with the ice in me was that they weren't sending the demons back to hell, they were dying, disappearing from existence forever.
The devil backed up as I got closer to him, in fact, everywhere was clear from how powerful my strikes were.
“You still want me to come with you?” I snickered in his face, “Be your whore? Live under your control?” I continued, walking around him while he tried to comprehend what he just witnessed.
“You're a beast,” he muttered in disbelief.
“That's rich coming from you, using the power given to you to create beasts, literal and figurative. I'm not going to live in fear of you, and neither are my people, so take your rancid creatures and go back to the hell created specifically for you!” I yelled at him.
“You win today, but I'll be back, and I'll show you the reason why I've survived this long,” he growled while walking backward to the portal.
“Release my mother while you're at it!” Alaric exclaimed, making me look at his beat-down form. He couldn't even stay in his demon any longer.
“He's holding your mom?” I asked in confusion, “I thought she was dead?”
“That's what he told me but he let it sleep that she's hidden somewhere,” he replied, coming closer to me.
“You heard him. His mother should be here in one piece in the next thirty minutes or we might have to do something about that prophecy you're so scared of,” I promised him.
He paused and shook his head
“I can't do that, we're bonded. She's my soulmate!”
“I'm not giving you a choice. Besides, it'll just be karma doing its thing. You hurt Kaiden through me, and now, it's your turn to feel that pain only; no angel is coming to save you!”
“You can't make me do this!”
“Remember how you put me in a tight corner with my soulmate and gave me six hours? The way you're feeling right now is exactly how I felt then, so make sure you sit down, relax, and eat what you dished for me,” Alaric told him with a satisfied smile while holding onto me proudly.
“You're so shameless! Depending on a woman to save your as– Ahh!” He screamed as I cut him off with an ice bolt I fired at him, freezing his arm.
Immediately, the portal began to close.
“Remember, you have thirty minutes!” I yelled into the closing void. “I should have made it shorter, what does he need all that time for?” I mused out loud.
“It's fine, he should look at her for the last time, he'll never have the chance to imprison her ever again,” the angel replied to me as we turned around.
The entire compound was a disaster, blood of different colors soiling the ground as well as body parts, but never the owners. Ice blocks were melting here and there with the body parts in them as well.
If I was normal, I'd be throwing up right there.
“Arch,” I heard Alaric call to the angel who had literally stood there and watched the whole thing without lifting a finger. I had a totally different perspective about them before now.
"Yes?”
“You said I was to get a protector, but from what I'm seeing, it's the other way around.”
“You're not protecting her from outsiders, you're protecting her from herself. Take her inside and bring her back your soulmate. The longer she's in this form, the deadlier she'll be,” the angel said, making me frown.
“What crap are you spewing? I'm not deadly to anyone!” I spat.
“You'll understand later Maria, for now, just follow the demon. He means well for you,” he replied to me with a gentle voice while unfurling his wings from where they'd been hidden
In fact, his entire form was morphing into something else. He looked undescribable as he began flying off, leaving us all gagged.
“But I don't know what to do!” Alaric yelled at his receding form.
“Oh but you really do,” he replied with a smirk as he disappeared into the sky.
“I'm going to pretend he's not talking about what I think he's talking about right now,” Kiara said, shaking her head.
“Angels,” Octavio chipped in, “always pretending they don't know anything about these things.”
“What are you all talking about?!” I exclaimed, confused as hell.
I mean, the angel just called me an entirely different name.
“Come on baby, let's get you inside and out of these bloody clothes,” Alaric replied instead, taking my arms in his.
I wanted to resist, but he had a point about the clothes; splatters of blood were all over me, and I was definitely irritated by them.
“Go, girl!” Kiara hooted from behind me as they went about clearing up the place.
“You're weird,” I replied with a shake of my head, but they all laughed.
“Don't mind them, they wish they were you,” he said with a smile as we got back into the house.
He did as he'd promised, took me inside the house, took off my clothes threw them into the laundry basket, and prepared bath water for me.
Us.
But then, I realized too late that this was the actual trap and I was losing my hold on this body.
“Fuck!” I exclaimed as she took over, rushing into her lover's arms while locking me up in her mind, only to be let out when next she was in danger.
Ugh!
