CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN
CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN
The entire room was gagged, especially me, who couldn't contain my excitement, and I ran into his arms, which gladly received me.
“I'm so sorry for the pain you went through on that journey,” I whispered into his arms, overwhelmed with joy.
“Shhh, don't even try to blame yourself for that,” he replied, cleaning the tears that I didn't even know my eyes produced already.
“You both need to move this reunion to a more convenient time, this whole situation is scary,” Kora said, making us break apart and taking back the scene before us.
The devil still kept struggling, shifting back from his demon form to human and back to demon form because the transformation stopped at his knees.
Kaiden touched my hair lovingly before moving me to his side and then I watched his face change.
“Yes, as I was saying, the devil thinks women shouldn't have strong powers so how's Kora supposed to help you? Mind you, it's a woman that put you in that position,” Kaiden chuckled evilly at His father's predicament. Although the form was Alaric, from the eyes and voice, I could tell it was Kaiden.
He held my waist and even in the middle of the chaos happening, he was still clingy.
I guess I'm not the only one that missed us being happy with each other.
“You are playing with fire Kaiden!” Lucifer growled, and I could see a twinge of fear in his eyes like he was scared. I can't believe I actually did that to him.
“Aren’t we all playing with fire here? You're doing all of this because you held all the cards before, but now that there's someone else in the picture, you're unraveling, throwing tantrums, and playing stupid tricks. Well, I don't regret turning my back on you, seeing as you'll never actually see anyone else as important but yourself,” he said, and I could hear the pain in his voice. “I’ve wasted years waiting for you to do right by me but now you've gone too far. Putting my life in danger and worst of all, hurting my Aria, you're going to have to bring all the fireworks you have stored because I'm not backing away from this fight,”
“Oh because you got a little Archangel by your side, you think you suddenly have the upper hand? It'll take a thousand of you and him to stop me! I'm going to consume your little soulmate and they're going to watch me from heaven, unable to do anything about it!”
Baby,” he called, turning to me, “let him free from His restraints,” he commanded, making us all gasp.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes baby, he doesn't know how powerful all of us here are, and we need to take this battle outside anyway.”
“But I don't know how to,” I confided in him, feeling burned out already.
“It's pretty easy, just reach inside your reserve was and call back the power you let out. Let it dissipate into the air, though; you don't want anything that's been around him, except me, of course,” he said with a smile.
“You're not a thing and it's not as easy as you say it, okay?”
“It's easier than putting food in your mouth baby, just stop doubting and try it. Reach deep," he encouraged me.
I took a deep breath and decided to trust him.
I focused on the ice, tracing the way it felt inside me, following it all the way to that depth inside of me.
Then just as he'd instructed, I began pulling back.
I was tempted beyond measure to take it inside of me but Kaiden had warned against that.
The moment I heard a clash in the room, I opened my eyes immediately and I saw Kaiden and his father were already fighting.
“Everyone clear out!” Kora yelled above the chaos.
We all ran out of the dining, following their violence to the sitting room.
Kaiden transformed into his full form and dragged his father by the horn, both of them screaming for different reasons.
It was chaotic as we all rushed outside with them, even the angel who stood on one side, hovering in the air while watching father and son barrel into each other in the big compound.
“Here,” I heard Kiara's voice and I turned to see her handing me a cup, “I'm not comfortable with you being weak in this situation. The weird dream I had last night makes sense now,” she explained to me.
I smelled the contents of the cup and drank it when I didn't smell anything fishy.
The result wasn't instant, I watched with heightened emotions as Lucifer got the upper hand all of a sudden, bashing Kaiden's head on the side of the fountain and scattering the whole thing.
I screamed out loud in fear, rushing towards him.
“Don't!” I heard the angel shout, and I turned to see him shaking his head, “It's not the right time yet. When he brings reinforcement, the rest of you can join but for now, rest your strength.”
I nodded but deep down, I was finding it hard to hold myself still while they fought.
When Kaiden lay down, unmoving, Lucifer did as the angel had predicted and opened a portal.
Immediately, he opened his arms and created a dark dome above us all, forcing every flying beast coming from hell to remain in this space.
“Don't join in unless it's totally necessary,” I heard from beside me, the angel standing so close to me I could hear the way his skin danced all over his body. It was like his blood pressure was so high it was effectively jumping from one spot to the other.
His instructions were very hard to obey, Kora was standing on one side, mute and teary, while Octavio joined the fray, but he wasn't as powerful as Kaiden, who finally got off the ground.
The Fallen were in full force, fighting the demons and sending them back to hell but they were outnumbered.
And the Archangel insisted on me standing and watching.
The devil walked to Kaiden and punched his gut, sending him down again. He grabbed him by his wing and held his neck and then looked towards me.
“If you want this to end, all you have to do is come with me,” he said with a snarl as he twisted Kaiden's neck, making me scream. “And for the angel on your shoulder, I have a little present for him,” he added with a cruel smile.
I wasn't even looking at the portal when he was speaking, but the moment his mouth uttered those words, my eyes were drawn to the portal, and out came a demonic beast.
But even without being told, I knew who it was.
Damon.
