Chapter Forty-Six
“What about Iris…” Finn asked cautiously as he walked side by side with me or rather Gader’el, they were currently at my mother’s castle and getting closer to my mother.
“Weak and has given up.” Gader’el replied and he was not wrong, I had no will to even try clawing my way back, not when my father was missing and presumed dead while my mother, the woman who birthed me was the one who placed something else in my body with me.
“But she is still alive right.” Finn asked but Gader’el paused at looked at Finn.
“You like her.” Gader’el tilted his head to the side. “You are in love with her even though she doesn’t even think of you that way.”
“You don’t know that.” Finn replied, his face growing red.
“I do remember that I am her.” Gader’el replied as Finn shook his head.
“You are not her.” Finn returned.
“I am her and will be forevermore, nothing can change that.” He reminded Finn as he continued to walk, and Finn caught up then led him into another room. this room was a simple setting with a chaise and a desk with some office chairs. Nambra was behind the desk as she looked through some documents.
“Iris dear, you didn’t tell me that you are coming.” Nambra stood up as she came towards me to hug me, but Finn stepped in front of her.
“Finn?” She questioned.
“That is not Iris, that is the demon Gader’el.” Finn explained as I stored the new information away even in shock. Demon? My mother was playing with Demons, what is she thinking?
Nambra laughed and my attention moved back to her. I watched as she stood straighter and something about her seemed to change even though she remained the same. “You took your damn time in taking control.” She griped.
“Apologies mistress, your daughter is a fighter.” Gader’el bent at the waist in a deep bow to Nambra who preened at the attention.
“Of course, she is, she is my blood after all.”
“I just need to ask, why your daughter.” Gader’el asked.
Nambra looked at him weirdly. “Because I birthed her solely for this reason. You see, I have a plan. A plan that had spanned more than twenty years. I needed a strong host for you, and no one is stronger than my daughter in the whole of faery right now.”
“That I believe because she is filled with untapped power.” Gader’el agreed. “What would you command me to do Mistress?”
“Keep a low profile for now but we get to plan.”
“What do you need to do?” Gader’el asked Nambra.
“I want to repair the world, it is dying. I need to cut off the excesses before it can grow better, like pruning a tree.” Nambra suggested as Gader’el nodded.
“Killing of citizens who have power is going to be difficult.”
“Not for a pack of demons.” Nambra stated and Finn made a sound of distress in his throat as his eyes widened but the queen and the demon did not pay him any attention.
“You want me to invite my pack into this realm?” Gader’el raised his… my brows in shock.
“Please.” Nambra rolled her eyes. “You have already started the process, don’t think that I do not know all about your black out visits and the small rituals which you have been holding for the past months now. I even have the perfect spot for the last one to connect the pentagram together and not only that, but I also have the perfect date too, it’s a week from now. Thank god you got control, I was starting to think of ways in which I could make Iris relinquish control, I thought about rape and …”
“And you gave birth to her?” Gader’el asked. Apparently, I was not the only one shock at the level of my mother depravity.
“Well yes I did. The resemblance physically is uncanny, you should have noticed. Now will the rest of your pack be needing physical bodies?”
“Since they will come through a portal then no, they would not.” Gader’el replied. “This is also the first time that someone is not being tricked to open a portal willingly for demons.”
“I am a very open-minded person.” Nambra returned but however, nobody should take my open mindedness as something else. Now I believe that you know that I am in charge and all, but I need you to be explicitly aware of what will happen to you if things don’t go my way, or you try to double cross me.” Nambra stated cheerfully even as her stance changed again, this time to deadly.
“Break.” She ordered and Gader’el and me screamed in pain, he must be feeling the same thing I was because both our cries were torturous. I felt like my mind was breaking, like I was being shattered and torn into bits by a pack of wolves.
Gader’el turned to the side to vomit, and I did not even have that relief, I lost my grip and sank deeper into Gader’el suffocating presence.
“Stop it.” Finn scream brought me back as I struggled to listen to what was going on. “You know that you are hurting Iris too right.”
“Iris should have been creased by now, but she is still hanging on. This is a warning for both of them…” Nambra paused then added as an afterthought. “It is a warning for Gader’el, dear, and it is weakening system for Iris so she cannot gain control again.”
And after that explanation, she shoved Finn words to the side and did it again and just because she could she did it five more time to ensure our compliance.
By the time she was done, I was barely existing, the option of letting go completely and creasing to exist appeared close to me.
“Do I make myself clear?” Nambra asked Gader’el in a sweet tone as if she had not spent the better part of an hour torturing us.
“Crystal.” Gader’el replied panting.
“Good, get back to school and act like everything is okay… nothing strange at all. I want to take the entire faery world by surprise, and I still get to play the grieving widow.”
“Did you kill her father?” Gader’el asked, I could feel his intent, he wanted me to give up completely and we both knew that if her answer was yes that I was taking the coward way out. I would give up.
Nambra smirked. “I get to ask the questions Gader’el. Get back to school.” She ordered.
Not knowing that her words gave me enough strength to gather, my father was still alive, if he wasn’t, she would not have hidden it. I didn’t try to shove or claw at Gader’el though, I kept that to myself.
I would grow stronger, and I would take over someday but until then, I needed to bid my time and watch and learn.
When I would strike, the first person I would kill would be the incubator that brought me to this earth.
