Chapter 81 - HEIRESS'S SECOND CHANCE BILLIONAIRE

Chapter Eighty-One “Blooming Love.”

Christian Kingston.

“You are not serious,” Isabella deadpanned the moment I closed the door behind me, before turning around to pin her glare on me as I strolled further into the office to catch up with her. For someone so short, she certainly walks hella fast when she wants to.

Coming to walk past her, I reached where her desk is and leaned on it, then folded my arms over my torso as I watched her stand a few feet away from me, staring at me in disbelief. “I am not serious about what?” I asked, feigning ignorance.

She pinned her narrowed eyes at me. “You cannot be serious about the lawsuits,” She pointed out, despite me being already aware of what she is talking about. “You cannot go ahead and file a lawsuit against every single one that dropped a malicious comment,” She said, as if trying to reason with me.

I arched a brow, feigning seriousness. “Why can’t I?” My question was genuine though. “Last I checked, there is no law against that.” When she parted her lips to speak, I raised my hand to stop her before I added. “But, there are countless laws about trolling someone on the internet, defaming them, and lots more. It is a very long list really. I have so many reasons really.”

“Oh My God,” Isabella mumbled, looking away as she pinched the bridge of her nose, releasing a breath as she shook her head. Then, she turned around to look at me, hands akimbo. “Christian you cannot do that.” She repeated, her tone more firm now.

“Isabella, I can, and I will.” I repeated as well, my tone firm, showing her I have no plans of backing down. “Do not try to change my mind, I did not try to change yours when you made your decision.” I pointed out. I did not say a thing because I trust her, but I need her to understand this as well. “You made your decision alone, and fine, I trust you and support you. But, that will not stop me from doing things how I want as well. Just so you know.”

“Christian…” She groaned, then ended it with a sigh and slumped shoulders. Her expression softened, her walls falling down as she exposed her vulnerable side to me, the one she hid throughout the meeting we had. “…I am sorry I did not let you know before hand, I know you only want to help but,” She shook her head, drawing her bottom lip between her teeth as her shoulders slumped even more. Meeting my gaze with her soft ones, she added. “I decided to apologize because even though the recording was tampered and I did not push her, I still had a role to play.”

“And why do you think so?” I arched a brow.

“Because,” She sighed, “Because I did black list her. I did it for a valid reason truly, but I was well aware that I will be ending her career by doing that and selfishly enough, I went ahead with it. So, yes. I am certain it played a role in her decision for even when she confronted me, I still ignored her feelings. I had a role to play in that, Christian, and I need to own up to it at the very least.”

“So you want to apologize?”

She nodded.

“Will apologizing to the public bring her back from the dead?” I know my words are harsh, but I need her to understand my logic here. She did not answer, though her expression pretty much gave me the answer I need. So, I added. “Answer me, Isabella. Will apologizing to the public whose opinion should not matter, bring her back to life?”

“Their opinions do matter,” She tries to reason. “Look at my current predicament because of them.” She gestured with her hand out, “I cannot even step out of this very building and I am getting bashed every second on the web. My work, Christian, it keeps crashing right before my eyes. One step back, and two steps back. That is what is going on.”

“And I will handle them all if you let me,” I cut her off, my tone determined. “You do not have to shoulder all of these on your own. Give me 10 hours, no, give me three hours and I will get rid of everything on the web,” I meant everything I utter, every single one. “And I will get rid of the people outside as well, just let me. Your work will get back on its feet; I trust you will be able to handle it. You are not a quitter, Isabella. You have been through so much; this is just another setback.” I would have offered to help with her business as well, but I know Isabella would not want that.

The Tokyo Warehouse was something she did out of desperation, but with it handled, I am certain she would not welcome my help in her work any time soon. Besides, I know she can handle it. She should handle the important ones here, and I will handle the rest.

She gave a look that shows she is not so convinced.

“Come here,” I said instead, unfolding my hand and reaching it out.

She sighed, but walked towards me regardless. I parted my legs and she walked right to stand between it, taking my hand which I brought to rest on my shoulder while I rested both hands on her waist, pulling her close to me. Given I am seated on the desk, we are now at the same height.

I dropped my voice when I asked. “What do you want me to do exactly for you, Isabella?” I asked, keeping my gaze on her, “Just say it, and it is yours. If you want me to destroy whoever published those articles on top suing those trolling you, I will. If you ask me to make sure no one dares to come at you again, I will. If you want me to help you with the business, I will too. Just say it. What do you want?”

She suspired, her fingers moving to play with the hair on the nape of my neck. Her expression softened when she confessed in a small voice. “I want to stop using you,” She whispered. “I feel as though I am taking advantage of you so much.”

“Use me as much as you want, I do mind.” I shook my head, then offered her a small smile. “Use me for as long as you want, preferably till we are old and grey haired, I do not mind.”

She held my gaze for a few seconds, her regret masking her features before she eventually whispered. “What will I do if I become too dependent on you?” She whispered, her tone scared. “I do not want to get my heart broken again.”

“And you won’t,” I assured her, earnestly. “You and I, love. It is a forever thing.”

A small smile made its way on her face, then she whispered again. “How did I get so lucky to have you in my life?” She asked, as if wondering to herself. “How can I pay you back for everything.”

“Well, let me think…” My smile widened as I pulled her closer to me, so our faces were mere inches away. Holding her gaze, I whispered. “…a kiss every day will do.”

Her own smile widened. “Well, in that case…” She leaned down to press her lips on mine, and I inched closer as well.

However, just as our lips were about to press, the door was suddenly pushed open and a voice I absolutely detest came.

“Mr. Kingston, the car is…oh shit! No, I did not see anything,” Carter shrieked, making Isabella pull away from me, her cheeks flushed. I huffed out an annoyed breath, then slanted my narrowed eyes in his direction just in time to see he has turned his back to us, covering his eyes with his hands. “Carry on, just pretend I am not here…”

I released a small, mock chuckle under my breath which disappeared as soon as it came. “Carter,” I called out calmly.

He hummed. “Yes, Sir.”

“GET THE FUCKING HELL OUT!”
